My idea if for a 'Knocked out' campaign ANY... Afv from 1900 to present day. (Historical 'What if's' allowed = Paper Panzers etc)

'Knocked out' is not a track off but so badly damaged that it would take more than a day to fix or never! Shell/Fire/Mine damage even the elements Ice/Rivers/Mud!

I got the idea while searching for information on captured Panther tanks when I found this about the Ardennes

The totally smashed half-tracks especially the 2 in the snow, which look like they've had a huge tin of white Dulux dumped on them, really struck me. imagine a Sdkfz. 7 with the body all ripped off and the winch and trans all showing!!

I would be great to see different techniques and ideas swapped with each other and the list of possible subjects is endless, with plenty of burnt/blackened rusty, dirty muddy stuff to go at.

IF???? we get going lets start 1st January 2012 that way we can ask for the right kit for Christmas and do it right and finish in 2013 February/March time....... allowing for New Years hang overs

Thanks to Jeremy (vonHengest) for some sound advice and getting me to post this up.

Right anybody interested?

Yes! I like this idea!
Okay, I don't have too much success at this, but again, I've read a lot since my last attempt at battle damage. Count me in. January 2012 sounds like a decent start time.

Jeremy........... How many sleeves? but glad your in.
Alexander....... Thanks for the support and your joining in.
Vladimir.......... Kind words Vladimir, I hope you will be up for this campaign?
Sal................. Hi Sal, Yes! other builds for this campaign as per similar rules here.
Sean.............. Glad you in.
Zon................ Thanks for your support.
Greg...............Thanks Greg for jumping in too!

I hope that if we get this all going we will all learn a lot but have some laughs and fun along the way....
I think the trick will be in how we knock-out our chosen models or how we show it's knocked -out, and how far we go in it's destruction, I should add that the Panthers in the link I posted are clearly damaged with sagged suspension (indicating a fire) but look very clean and almost road worthy!

A quick Google brought all these to light it's going to be a hard choice picking

Regards Duncan.

I found these 3 photos about a year ago while I was working on the Workhorse Campaign. I believe that they are all of the same vehiclePhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
and since then I have been wanting to re-create this scene but I may use a different vehicle, what do you guys think

Hey folks,

Great idea, Duncan and great photos, Sal.

I think I know what I'm going to attempt. Here's some photos of destroyed T55s and a BMP from the siege of Vukuvar, Croatia, 1991:

With little more that RPGs, improvised landmines and one or two recoilless rifles, the mostly volunteer militia in Vukovar allegedly destroyed a few hundred Serbian tanks and assorted AFVs.

The 2012 timeframe sounds great. I've got a Tamiya T55 in my stash that I've been threatening to build anyway- although all the help/advice I can get would be very welcome!

i have a project that would involve a knocked out vehicle but it's down the line so if it starts in 2012 and runs for a while you can count me in as well. this campaign should include any vehicle though: trucks, cars, planes, trains, etc... not just armoured vehicles if i may suggest an amendment.

cheers, bd.

Jeremy........... How many sleeves? but glad your in.

Hmm, too many? LOL, I have at least three ideas, two of them for bogged down vehicles that would give me a chance to work with water and/or mud which I've never done before

I second Bruce's thought, this campaign would benefit from being opened to any military vehicle.

Aaaand you've reached your magic "10"

Sal....... Great photo's that would make a great Diorama with a different vehicle.
Eoin..... Excellent photo's too, the Tamiya T-55 is supposed to be a great model.

Bruce.....Very good point any Military vehicle it is then, forgot about all the Armored train stuff and Dragon do some 1/35 helicopters, plus all the other scales!

Wayne....Thanks for joining in! what have you got in mind?
Greg....... No picture ? try again you got us all curious now!
Jeremy.... the mud and water sounds good but tricky best of luck with it.

Right we've got the magic 10 .... I will submit another campaign form I guess this ones going to be a Mission'

and I will put in any Military vehicle and hopefully we'll get the go ahead, plus I can see a lot of "PanzerWrecks" books being bought!

Thank you to all who step up and joined in.

Ah yes, white 11. I remember a thread a couple of months back where a lot of photos of this vehicle were posted.

Back in the "good old days" we didn't worry about playground equipment safety!
Especially that unused shell laying on the ground to the right.

If someone's keeping a list...
The direction I'll probably go for this campaign (8 months from now) is a scorched hmmwv or MRAP with the front panels blown away, wheels and possibly the engine torn off, but the crew compartment mostly intact. Not to be too sensitive for a military site, but a feel-good "and they walked away" story.
