Howdy..
just thought I'd show that I have actually done something on my kit..
the details are going to be the devil in this kit. the track links in the photo show 4 of the links together, and in the kit there are around 216 by my quick count.

I had this kit in my stash and thought I would give it a go. I was disappointed in a previous Academy kit so lets hope for the best. This should be pretty much a OOB build.

Hey Mike
I'll be watching your build with interest. I just added that kit to my stash a few weeks ago, and almost choose it for this build, but I have done a couple of allied vehicles of late, and wanted to do the panzer Ib as the early German armor seems very interesting.
btw which academy kit have you had problems with?

It seems to me there are a lot of interesting subjects getting shape, so guys keep up the good work:)
Finally I had some time to work on the paint phase of the 7TP.
First of all, I have primed it with Mr Surfacer 1200, then it got some preshading. The base color is the Agama's grey sand specially designed for the Polish three-tone camo of the era. I have airbrushed one layer onto the black preshading, and then it got another preshading layer, this time it was dark green. Then came another layer of the base color, which was faded with lighter colours, and even white on the middle of the panels. The other two color of the camo was a tough one, as working with the Agama colors is not as easy like the Vallejo's or the Mr.Color's (or maybe it is not water soluable? Unfortunately I don't speak Czech nor Polish). Finally I have diluted it with alcohol based Mr Color thinner, and it getting worked. As this kit is a rebuild, I don't have the decals anymore. Luckily, we have a plotter in my company, so I have designed the insignias in a vector graphic program, and cutted it from vynil self adhesive sticker. The details of the bison are extremely small, but imho it looks pretty nice
Here is some wip photos. Now the main painting phase is over, and finally I can give a try to the filter technique, which I have never done before.
Cheers,
Istvan

The Academy Kit I was referring to was the Panzer IV Aust. H with Armor #1327. Problems I encountered was a poorly molded rear deck where I had to put a filler strip in on the back edge to fill in a rather large uneven gap. Top of the turret did not fit well and overall I just felt it was rather weak in molding. Thinking of using it as a practice model for the knocked out campaign. Will try out the burnt out effect and some shell hole effects.

Today I got the bogie's finished and the running gear finished, and I started the track links. Got about 26 of them done.. lots more to go..
The kit has the wrong rear idler wheels, it has the ones with the rubber for the panzer I, I got the correct set from my panzerjager I kit, when I do that one I'll have to find a resin pair..
and here is the photo..

Wow, seeing some great things happening here. Loving every bit of it.
Since some of the cats have had a little "accident" with the Vickers Light, I decided to start something else. Today it arrived:
I`m hoping this will go somewhat better. Must remember to take some anti-cat measures before building

Benjamin, it looks promising !
I hope it turns into a nice kit !
Watch out for the cats, I have the same problem
But usually he's sleeping near the kit boxes...

Benjamin - nice to see another tankette being built here. Although it is very pricey for such a small kit, I guess that is the nature of the resin beast. If you plan to build with crew hatches or anything else open, I suggest gluing those after painting. I can't tell you how many times mine broke as there so little area to hold while handling this small vehicle.

Jack

John: just about every box top from a big kit gets confiscated instantly. If I don`t let then, they crawl into the parts box and destroy the PE
Jack: Thanks. I really liked yours. As for the added price: it is all worth it. You get a full interior, accurate details for a Seconda Serie and the figure and accessories shown on the box top. It`s a little gem

Benjamin,
It looks really interesting! That engine is awesome on the box photo. Do you build it as an Italian vehicle? I guess the Hungarian army has also used this version, just the machine guns where replaced to Gebauer ones, and later the cupola was changed.

Hi Benjamin,
I just saw your excellent review about the kit, and I guess it answers all questions about the kit I'm really looking forward the build.

Thanks Istvan. I`m planning to build as an italian vehicle during the invasion of France or maybe the campaign in Libya.

howdy all..
This is a planning part of my build
I like how the early panzers look, but I have never done a panzer grey paint job that I have liked all that much, which is why I have not done to many of them.
Well with this panzer Ib I hope to take my build to the next level, therefor I have ordered the following..
All in all I tend to Aim High, so if I miss it will be a Huge Crash and burn time..

@Delbert I have been looking at those very sets to add to my every expanding collection of weathering options. Really looking forward to how they work for you!

Yep I took the plunge after reading a lot in my new FAQ2 book. I just hope the wife don't see the invoice.. LOL
And for those interested I plan to show the results here as well as going into great detail with lots of photos on my websites build blog for this kit..
although at the rate I am going on the track links that may be a while..

Delbert,
Those AK sets are very nice and I’m sure you will enjoy them.
One word of caution. The AK filters are a little too heavy and in my opinion, need to be thinned down or else they will cover up any prior work. I'd test an unseen area before prociding with the filter.

Hi everyone,
there are some nice builds being started here. I look forward to seeing the C.V. 33 and the Type TK builds.
Here is whats up with mine.
The Tank is taking shape got a bit done on the top structure of it. I really like how the kit goes together, I've used only the tiniest bit of putty in one place.
I also got a little more done on the tracks. Tedious but they look good.
and here is the photo for those who like this sort of thing.

Hi All,
It seems I have finished the 7TP light tank, now it is completely reborn after more then a decade. Of course it mean it is ready in 99%, and I still need to work on it a bit, as I think I have to fade the mud a bit on the front and the back of the tank. Also I'm planning to use it in a dio, so the tracks and suspensions are not fixed yet. I have used plenty of filters, washes, oils and pigments on it, and it was a really great fun.
Here are some photos of this tiny vehicle.
Cheers,
Istvan
