Ok boys, heres my WIP after a brutal assembly process using Chinese texted instructions
See how this horrible kit did not have those turret ring knotches to lock the turret in place, so I had to improvise using four pieces of "number tabs" from the sprue branches
I guess I still have to scratchbuild some fuel lines to connect those gas tanks on the right side of the hull, then its painting time - yippeeee

Doesn't seem to hampering you much there Rei! It's looking good and so fast too!
I decided to make a tiny (and I mean tiny) update on my M1117 with a detail change from the box parts with a piece of aluminum tubing.
I thought the off-centered styrene kit part "D5" looked out of place with all that nice PE (now sitting on the clear cap in the foreground) so I couldn't leave that alone. Besides, it only took 15 minutes to cut, shape and set with Thin CA.
I shot the first coat on the wheels before I left for work (which is 5 minutes away) so when I return a second, then work on some decals for my bird. THEN, crack open the M46 and do some hull work.

Nice tidy work on the PE Jeff
As for my M1151 the comms unit is not looking as nice and clean as their promotional picture, but once painted and hidden inside should be OK. Some of the folds required are absolutely tiny! Less than 0.5mm in some cases I estimate. Definitly need my eyes tested after this:
Thats all I got done for this week. Bad weather permitting I'm hoping to get a significant amount of painting done over the weekend

Jeff: If you want to do the Bulgarian version, you will need to swap out the mg with a NVST.

I read that ... like this:
But then I read statements like this:
"Export Variants: Bulgaria uses a variant of the M1117 APC fitted with a NSVT heavy machine gun instead of the M2. Not all vehicles have been converted this way."
From here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1117_Armored_Security_Vehicle
But cannot find out anymore detailed info or close ups to make a good stab and changing it out ... if I go that way. And color variants? Need to see some better examples there too.
Ya got any examples I might need on the NVST?

Hi,
I just discovered the Campaign section of the site and was interested to share my progress on a few Humvee's I am building. Below are some photos of one I started a few weeks ago and have just started to get into in a big way due to holidays. The other two I will be starting over the next couple of weeks.
This is a Tamiya base with the Legend M1114 Frag 5 update set. I am also adding a Voyager warlock IED, a Legend M134 Minigun in the turret and a few other items, such as some Blast accessories, Legend figures and Live Resin weapons.
I was also inspired by photo of a HMMWV with the US flag mounted on the underside of the rear lid and will be adding this.
This will be forming part of a larger diorama with other vehicles, such as a M1A1 with TUSK that I have already built, or planning to build.

Richard: A very nice selection. I wish you had posted a blog on it. Been carefully considering how to pair a hmmwv with my M1A2 SLEP Abrams.
BTW: I will be ordering my Stryker from Hobbyeasy on Monday or Tuesday. I've heard this is a complicated kit with many pieces. I am really looking forward to the challenge.

I've done some more detailing since my first post. Mostly wiring up the communications system. It will be going onto the shelf for a week or so before I try and finish detailing the interior.
I've also included some shots of my M1. The diorama is based around a the tank having broken down, or been damaged and is being recovered. The tanks not finished and I am thinking of using Voyagers Tusk 2 set so I can show operational use and damage along the side and have missing plates.
I can't really paint in my current location and have to wait for a move towards the end of the year to get the airbrush back out and put some paint on these.
Richard
Also built a headset using parts from a Live Resin set
front aerial mount and wired
Some pictures of my A1M1 with Tusk. Originally this was going to be built with Tusk 1 and the RWS, but then the Tusk 2 set came out and I got carried away
This has a large assortment of aftermarket sets added to the Dragon kit with Tamiya plow. It has a full interior and engine. The M134's on the turret side are a personal addition to help the crew with street warfare!

Amazing work Richard.
How do you think of removing the vertical grooves on the humvee turret ?
One method used by a french modeler consists with some welds
http://www.colleurs-de-plastique.com/forums/showthread.php?41183-M1151-with-Spark-mine-roller-1-35/page9
too difficult for me. I have thought about putty, I will try.

The plow is from the Tamiya M1 kit with the Eduard etched parts for that kit. I was originally planning to use this kit as the base but I took so long to start that the Dragon kit came out and I decided to use that instead.

Just received the aftermath of my spending spree for the Guardian. I have BOTH nationality of decals now, window mask sheet and the mirrors too!
Still searchin' on a final decision for what version to paint it. I do like the Bulgarian version the best and even though the wheels are already painted, that could be the basis for sandy dust. The darker color and decals really look better or then I might just have a Bulgarian VAB?

Just stumbled upon this campaign. I'm going with a Leopard 2A6M CAN that I conveniently started after the start of the campaign.
Photo of kit before I started:
And my latest WIP photo:

Looking forward to my first campaign!

Looking good so far Michael and welcome to your first campaign. Remember the most important rule: have fun!
Anyway, some very slow progress on my M1151:
Should have taken some in-progress shots of the comms unit: sorry. It was very fiddely to put together and is far from perfect. Still need to add handsets and wires, and something on the screen.

Michael: I hope you are enjoying your build. It is looking really good! Being as you started it as a purely desirable build, keep up the enthusiasm. Too many of us suffer lack of motivation after a kit gets to a certain point. I really look forward to seeing your build completed and will be paying particular attention to the slat armor.

My Stryker should be in next Monday. It is the M1132 ESV with spark mine roller. I also will be using Voyager's rhino anti ied, ET's weighted road wheels and AFV Club's anti-reflection lens coating stickers.
Does anybody know if the M1132 has ever been equiped with a remote weapons station? If so, I will be using it as well.

Hey Matt!
Any advice where I could get a hold of the NVST, either robing it from another kit or a figure set? Or what could I modify to make it look like one?
Not a modern weapons expert here so a little help would be great. The Bulgarian decal set looks just too good to not use and I don't think it's covered in the Trumpeter instruction guide.

A quick google will show the M1132 always has the RWS Matt
