Got my Stryker in, today. Here are photos of the unstarted kit. I will post photos of the pe and other am parts as I get them. Just from the weight of the instructions, I can tell this will be a fun build.

I plan on scratch building the tool holders, so I left them off.
May build some more, tonight.
I do have a question. I intended to build this kit with the Pearson mine roller. However, I see that it comes with a dozer blade as well. Was the dozer version used in Astan?

Amazing work Richard.
How do you think of removing the vertical grooves on the humvee turret ?
too difficult for me. I have thought about putty, I will try.
I played with a couple of options for hiding the grooves. I found it hard to get putty to stick, so I applied a putty super glue mixture which seems to reduce the grove depth. On the other side I used Superglue mixed with fine pastel dust. Not sure it made much difference, though was more colourful
.
I will know how well it worked when I undercoat the turret, but I just waiting to finish the gun mounts and add a control lever. This might not happen till Live Resin's minigun is released as I assume their ammo belts will be better than the Legend ones, which are very hard to clean up and get a nice edge.

You're flying through that Stryker Matt. I do like them, both Trumpeter & AFV Club....still have to do an M1132 myself some day
More progress on my M1151 from Academy:
Hood, roof and turret dry-fitted. Rhino installed and wired.
Front office kitted out....looked better in the flesh. Photos show up ever little flaw :-(
And trying to decide how much gear is too much.... :-)
Bits are from Blast, Legend, Trumpeter and others I can't remember
All comments welcomed!

I have an AFV Club Stryker M1126 I will eventually build. I find the Trumpeter kit to be more detailed. However, the Trumpeter kit has a generous amount of flash and parts that don't line up. I had higher expectations from Trumpeter.
Sean: I like how the M1151 is building up. That may be part of my Christmas presents.
Rei: I'll take that in to consideration. Where did you find a photo of one in that color?
A little more progress. I intend to do the kit in the sand color, as that is a recent modification to the Stryker family in Astan. I will paint the vehicle chassis, mine roller/dozer blade and slat armor separately. I have decided to go ahead and order the storage baskets for the AFV Club kit and may swap out the 50cal barrel for one made of metal. This kit requires a lot of patience and putty. Recommended for the advanced modeller.

Some more progress. I have little bit more to do on the mine roller assembly, then spray a coat of salt with some salt weathering. I plan on having the rest of the parts in September.

A little progress. I have finished the mine roller assembly, minus some adjustment due to not alining the brackets correctly. I'll finish painting the green, tomorrow. Then, put it away till I get the am parts in.

Wow Matt, sure you took enough photos?
I can't tell if you added the photo-etch perforated suspension strut covers, but you should. Only the Canadian LAV-III uses the solid covers.

Well, do yourself a favour and build the AFV Club M1132 someday.

Matt, your Stryker is looking great. It makes me wish I would have brought my LAV III with me this summer. Instead I brought my Bronco Buffalo to build in barracks on my down time. (Maybe a double entry in this campaign if I can pull of the majority of the construction this summer
)

Reach for the stars!
Jim: unfortunately Trumpeter does not provide instructions on how to bend the covers, photos of them installed or how to install them(beyond a vague reference to somewhere around the suspension). I haven't ruled them out, but am unwilling to risk getting this one wrong.
Yes, there are tons of parts. A-E, P, Q, WK, WG, WH, WI sprues and some are multiples!
I used to think that 1:35 would save my eyes and hands, but it looks to be a forgotten dream. I rather prefer the amount of detail, but never expected plastic pieces smaller than a grain of rice.

Here are a couple of photos of the suspension covers. Turns out the directions are somewhat misleading, when it comes to the forward covers.
From now on, I will only be posting progress photos in my album, located here:
http://s832.photobucket.com/albums/zz242/capnluki/Stryker%20M1132/This is for anybody that wants to follow my blog. I'll be posting a finished photo in the campaign gallery. If I have time, I build a vignette to go along with the Stryker.

Nice work Matt on your project and thanks for remembering about the NSVT but I think I'll leave it as is and go with the US version.

Matt, yes, the Trumpeter instructions aren't very clear on the guards. I've seen people attach the p.e. right over the solid guard - which is almost what the instructions seem to suggest. I used some Evergreen strip to help on the one side that's missing:

Jim: Thanks for the photo. To be honest, I was just too lazy to do a quick image search that clarified the problem. You can visit my link above for photos of the cover installed.

On the last step of assembly, I realized I had glue the support arms for the mine roller on backwards. I seriously considered trying to break everything apart and try again. However, I forged ahead and built the dozer blade instead. I may still go with the mine roller, if I decide to order a parts kit to use with the dozer attachment. Here is a photo of the dozer assembly finished.
Let me know what you think.
