yufkey: Nice work. It really is too bad that there is no interior available for the Guardian.

yufkey: looking great. How did you weather the tires? I can never seem to keep the pigment off of the tread.

I used the MIG Pigments, by dry brushing them in between the tire treads. After that I took the AK interactive Minerals sprites and gave the tires a good wash. I repeated the wash a few times, letting them dry in between washing.

Well after getting all the bolt heads done on the lower hull and turret I decided that I was not happy with the ones on the upper hull so those were redone.

Cheers Rob.

I’ve changed my mind on the build for this campaign and will be building a YPR765 instead. The Kentic MATV just requires too much work and what time I have doesn’t allow me to complete the build. So I will build the kit pretty much straight from the box as a Dutch version in Astan. I’ve actually managed to get a lot done on the build over the last day and half and should have this completed well before the deadline.

Hi everyone,

This is my contribution to the campaign, Swedish CV9040C. I am still planning and researching for modelling possibilities of this vehicle using in Afghanistan, with or without barracuda camouflage, colors, etc.

But I think the project going to all green vehicle with partial barracuda. Like the reference photo I shared in this thread.

Who makes that YPR765 Chris?

Talk about teaching an old dawg something new, this vehicle is a first for me and it does look interesting!

I believe the YPR is an AFV Club offering. Had to look it up, myself.

Yes the kit is by AFV Club and they make 3 different versions of the kit (early, late and NATO) Perfect scale out of germany makes a few conversion kit fot it also. It's a great kit and almost builds it's self, only real let down is the mest for the storage bins. The mesh that comes in the kit is the wrong shape and has to be cut out. Afv club does make a photo etch replacement part for this area, but is hard to find these days.

CV9040 C progress so far..

First of all, I corrected the suspensions and added the belly armor that Hobbyboss "forgot", also cleaned the overdone texture on the road wheels.

By the way, the kit is nice and clean, I didn't have any (almost) problems joining the parts.

Here we go:

I finished the joining nearly all the parts of the kit.

Next I will add some other modifications that the CV9040 C on Afghanistan have (like the machine gun mount on the top, Hobbyboss also forgot this), built the tracks, paint and weather all over. Then I will add the barracuda camouflage.

Cagkan: Nice work. I would compare HobbyBoss kits to the newer Tamiya ones. I've currently reviewing one and am amazed at the ease of assembly and amount of detail.

Update:

I completed all details, added storage box, machine gun mount and the FN Mag. Scratch building the mg mount is very hard and it takes a day and a half, too few reference photos and not any measurements. Maybe it is not %100 accurate but I think it is close.

Matt, that "little cute mg mount" costs a lot of time and pain, I was nearly lost my patience. But in the end, I'm happy with the result.
