Yup, the 50 looks good!
I decided to assemble the 105 first so I can get measurements for my 1/16 T-19 and start putting that gun carriage together.
I don't like the way DML has this little sub metal barrel with this tiny anchor. CA doesn't work and the area really isn't plentiful enough to use epoxy, so I may use parts or ALL of my towed Italeri 105 instead. You'll be able to tell because the plastic is much darker (almost black) but the barrel is all one piece. If the anchor had been a bit longer the glue would have worked.
Sorry, no pics yet. Nothing to see here.

Andy, nice work on that old Tamiya kit! The .50 looks great!
Steph, I admire your scratch work. What plans are you basing the build on?
Sal, I think you caught a Russian mine there, here's a pic I found of a US M1 Anti Tank Mine:
Of course gray makes a bit of a change from all the OD...
Cheers!
Stefan

I used what I could with the older stuff, then backed it up with dripping some super thin CA into the seam.
NOW it's on there!

Hello, Thank you Stefan and Jeff. I have no plans, I only have two schemas for dimensions. For the rest I made from images, which are very good. steph

You need to fix the bumper and roller, it should be up against the radiator armor.

I've finished the chassis through basic painting, and finally have a few pictures to post.
This being my 1st ever half track, and only 7th armor build, I'm constantly learning from my mistakes, and I've made a few dandy ones already on this build.
I wasn't aware that you had to install the tracks as two separate pieces once the bogies, drive & Idle wheels were installed. So I did my usual thing by gluing them up and base painting them when I airbrushed the chassis. Then I ran across a little tidbit in one of the build articles on the M2A1 that I bookmarked, stating that the only way to install the tracks was as I stated before. So now what? After every conceivable approach I could think of, I just couldn't get the tracks on. Finally, taking the all or nothing approach, I got them on. Luck was sure on my side this time.
I painted the chassis and the running gear with Tamiya O.D. even though I found the color to be way too dark for my tastes. Since I'm going to be weathering the chassis and running rear with dirt, dust, and some mud, I'm not to concerned about it. But for the upper hull and drivers cab, I'll be using a much lighter mix.

Nice Rob. I wonder if they make one for the 105?
And hang in there Karl! Flickr and photobucket are easy to work with and no reason for anyone to go nutz over!
Nice choice with the M2A1.

Joel, thanks for the heads up on the tacks, it will be my first DML halftrack as well, so good to know. You're right about Tamiya's OD being too dark. I usually lighten it with probably about a 50/50 mix of XF-60 German Yellow or Buff. With the washes and all it will turn out perfect.
Karl welcome to the show!
Cheers!

Stephen, I'm going with a mix of 50% O.D. 25% German Yellow, and 25% Sand. As for trhe tracks and running gear, I'm still amazed I got everything together without destroying them.
Next time I'm going to leave the wheels off the bogies and try to install the tracks, drive gear, and Idler wheel all at the same time. I can't see installing the tracks as separate pieces as a viable option.
Since this build is on till the end of December, I just might try to complete two half tracks, which will be a campaign 1st for me.

I finally got my pictures uploaded. I'm just about ready to prime and paint. The Lion Roar PE set is really nice, and has been very easy to work with. All sections are only dry fitted at this point.
Hmmmm, it appears I've had a hook fall off the front bumper!
