Joel, if you mean mine, thanks. I really love the way the MG's came out and will post pics of that later.

Just finished up the cab unit on my DML M2A1, and I was amazed at how detailed it is straight out of the box. It went together perfectly, and even the instructions were pretty accurate for a change. Decided to leave one door partially open, and both window armor panels down in different positions.

I masked both sides of the windshield glass with blue painters tape. I'm hoping that the tape stays in place for the next few weeks or even longer if necessary.

Pictures to follow in a day or two once the glue really dries.

This is my 1st half track build, and it's been a joy build right from the start.

The cab and associated parts dried over night, so as promised, here's some pictures of the cab assembly dry fitted to the chassis. I'm still amazed at the level of detail, as well as the excellent fit of this kit.

Well it’s been awhile since my last update. Busy working on other projects and family life. I begun some of the weathering on the model with some paint fading using different colored oil paints. I’ve also made a slight change or should I say addition to the build. Just picked up CMK’s type A-3 fuel trailer and I have to say this is a really nice kit. Adds a bit more life to the some what dull scout car.

Cheers

Great progress guys, looking very good!

Guy, nice work on the PE. Were the rails along the seats also in the set or did you scratch these?

Irvin, welcome to the campaign!

Chris, I like the idea of the trailer!

Here's the latest chart. Unfortunately, we seem to lose members who've already started their build! I've marked those in yellow. Hopefully it was just a mistake and you guys will re-enlist soon!

Cheers!

Phil, Like it, I love it. Your work with PE is simply amazing. It's what separates true modelers like you, from OOB builders like me.

Hi Folks,
Scoutmaster here with his entries to this Group Build. I'll be doing the M3A1 Scout Car and the M3 75mm GMC in Braille:

Start Date:

My hope for these two kits is to model them after units that were used in the defense of the Philippines (1941-1942). For the M3 75mm GMC that would mean having to scratch-built the gun shield to backdate it to the M1897 75mm type. The Scout Car, on the other hand, would need an M1917 Water-cooled MG in Braille to replace the M1919 MG that came with the kit.

Happy modelling to all of us!

howdy all..

long time no post, been looking at the posts.. nice work everyone. I took a 2 week vacation in July.. 3698 miles and 12 states later it took me 2 weeks to recover..but now I'm ready to build again.

anyways here is a post to show what I have been working on.

To refresh, its an old Zvezda kit.

This is the first kit I bought off e-bay about 11 years ago, and I keep finding out I'm missing parts so I've had to make replacements.

I've had to make a casting for a part of the ditching roller, one side was missing, one of the wheel hubs was missing so I had to cast that. The parts were small so I made temp molds using clay instead of RTV. cheaper.

The radiator cover was missing so I robbed one out of a Tamiya M16 kit. Its not exactly correct but I think it will look close enough when I'm done.

I was thinking tonight, if I had built this kit 10 years ago when I got it, It would either end up terrible or be in the trash by now.. LOL.

here are some photos.

Overall progress.

casting photos.

I used schulphy clay and I will say that even with using mold release, the clay tends to stick to the resin parts and takes a bit of work to clean off.

well thats all for this long rambling post
thanks for looking

Steph, good to see some paint on it!

Phill, that PE is amazing! I don't think I've actually seen anyone tackle this one.Looks like you can almost build another halftrack with what's left...

Marcos, great to have you on board! I've had these in my hands several times but never actually bought them, so I'm looking forward to your work.

Dlebert, I know what you mean, one should always have 4 weeks vacation: 1 to recover from work, 2 to actually go somewhere and another one to recover from vacation... Nice work so far, don't think anyone will notice the Tamiya part once it's painted.

Cheers and keep up the progress shots everyone!

Hello again everyone.

After examining Phill's P.E. Master Work, I almost didn't post this photo, but I figure since there are some very highly skilled work going on here, I thought I'd lower the curve a bit.

I'm using some unnamed eastern block P.E. on my M3A1 and its going ok. This is the most Photo Etch I've used on a kit, and its a learning experience.

as you can see I'm a Photo etch newbie.. lol
