Hello Dave,
am I allowed to enlist although the campaign has started?
If so I would like to build a StuG III G of the 12th Sturmgeschütz-Brigade, that was just south of St.Lo on the 6.June´44. At the moment I know only that the 12th pulled back on the 10.June with one remaining StuH from 248 reported StuG´s. I´m sure I can find some markings somewhere, if they were still used of course.
Paul
Hey Paul,
Of course you an still join!
there's no time limit for joining.
A Stug G would definitely qualify, only the unit must be in action somewhere in Normandy on or before June 10th. If the 12th was, then it's perfect. If not, use decals of a Stug from the 21st, 150th or 12th SS panzer divisions. There were more then enough german units in action, and they surely had stugs, so this shouldnt be a real problem.
On a side note, does any one know where to get decals for a Canadian firefly ic in Normandy? I think there were some in and around Falaise. Since the EC is ruining my modelling time, I was thinking of doing an intermediate project, the dragon firefly ic oob, but I don't want to do it as a polish unit.
Thanks!
Dave

Hey Paul,
Let's assume it was in action:

Even as the 12th Brigade was still training at the beginning of June (5) it was rushed into action immediately after the Allied landings. On June 6, 1944 the unit was moved to the area south of St. Lo (A, 241)(9). The Brigade was attached to the 3. Fallschirm-Division (5)(9). Under the command of Major Güther Gersteuer, the Brigade consisted of three batteries that each contained seven long-barreled StuGs and three StuHs (A, 250). Engaged in the fighting on the Cotenin Peninsula, the Brigade reported eleven combat ready assault guns on June 27, 1944 (4)(5)(9).

What units had them? If you can identify them I'm sure I can scrounge up the AoS and Formation decals... (You may still need to look for squadron signs and census numbers etc...)

Hi Dave,
great,
I´ve been running round the net trying to find some
markings for the last half an hour without a result
but shall find them
if it takes me all night.

Archer has various Canadian markings, but not a specific "Canadian Firefly at Normandy" set. Probably the best bet is to try and find a photo, and then find to markings that will work.

@Tom, the Fort Garry Horse definitely had them, but I can't seem to find a picture.
@Paul, good luck and have a great build!
@Jesse, yep, but it's harder then I hoped it would be to find a photo. Did find a nice one however from a ic of the 11th armoured in Holland on IWM.

Dave,
I have the AoS (52 on red, with white bar at bottom) and maple-leaf Formation signs for the FGH if you want a set - PM me a snail-mail address. You'll still need your own census numbers for the hull sides, and geometric squadron markings, but from the FGH pics I've seen most tanks seem only to have worn those on the rear. And the piles of gear seen on most of their tanks hide a lot of missing markings!
Somebody once offered a set of FGH markings, but I've made mine up from a mix of other sets because I couldn't find them.
There are a number of FGH M4 pics on the web, but mostly shot from the rear so you can tell they are M4s but without good turret views I cannot be sure they were Fireflies.

Hey Anthony,
There's a picture of some centaurs towing the sledge in a village in Normandy. It's a colored pic, do a google search, cant be to hard to find. It's also in a thread on missing lynx.
For the centaur names, check out the bison decals for centaurs, will be a perfect reference.
Good luck.

Hello Jose,
First of all, welcome a board!
The 76mm gun was however not deployed in Normandy before July, so I'm afraid your Sherman won't qualify.
That was the bad news, good news is, there are a lot of other subjects to choose from!
just read through the thread and you'll find lots of inspiration!
Good luck.

@jesse, great, you make me want to open one of the tasca Sherman's I have in my stash.
@tom, I looked at Archer, but I would take me 3 different sets to build on FGH. Found some pictures, but indeed all from the back.
I do gladly accept your offer. I think I can find some tactical signs here, or buy those from Archer. Anyway, really appreciated and pm is on the way.

Hi Gary,
I haven't had any issues yet
It seams like a really nice kit. The instructions are a little confusing but I haven't run into and mixed up part numbers yet
I think I'm up to step 7 which seams a lot confusing so I will wait to do that when I have quite

Thanks Sal!
Ive had the kit for a couple years and keep putting it off just because of the undercarriage and the instructions which look VERY busy, and we all now how those DML instructions are.
Now That i have enlisted in a campaign with it ive got to build it, RIGHT? Anyways, ill follow yours close and ill be better prepaired in August.
Thanks Sal,
Gary
