Hi Al!
I thought I was keeping up with all the discussions, but apparently not.
So, what are we looking at on this particular Centaur? What is it dragging and what did the wader stacks look like?
Thanks!
~ Jeff

Hey Alan
thanks for the reference.pic i already have that 1 on my picture files though on that sled cant see any ordanance sadly.. And this centaur has a cover or stowage on the frony of the besa plate aswell. any idea of its serial number and name?
@Dave
the centaur you refered to in the normandy village.. ive found but it doesnt show the porpoise sled on the back.. please note though that someone has turned that picture into colour by photoshop or other programs which you can tell by the colour of red on partial building and also on righthand side of turret aswell.. ive also checked this with a part time photographer who confirmed this.. plus all acounts ive found of centaur state the centaurs were never painted olive drab as only intended to last till D+14 then either be transfered to the canadians or french... Though havent found where they were transfered too all accounts of the centaurs after D+14 are non existant.

Thanks Sal! Ive had the kit for a couple years and keep putting it off just because of the undercarriage and the instructions which look VERY busy, and we all now how those DML instructions are. Now That i have enlisted in a campaign with it ive got to build it, RIGHT? Anyways, ill follow yours close and ill be better prepaired in August.
Thanks Sal,
Gary
Ok Gary, pay attention here at step 8 the instruction get very busy but what I can tell you is use part B5 last and refer to this photo
Take your time and be careful
Then skip step 11 because those are all screwed up and just go to the vision port steps. Step 11 only list 2 parts but shows 3, it is better explained in the next few steps
Step 15 has you gluing the upper and lower hull together put I will stop here and paint the interior 1st
Questions, comments suggestions are always welcome

More updates on the firefly. Drilled the holes in the bullet splash shields, added some details to the rear engine plate for the spring tow pintle, and wiring and springs for the smoke generator box. And did some more work on the final drive cover with a couple of applications of Mr. Surfacer -> sand -> Mr. Surfacer -> sand, etc.

The Centaur is towing a "porpoise", which was basically a sled with inner compartments that held extra ammo, supplies, etc.

Good to know. I guess I could have looked it up but just didn't take the time. The Centaur is just a little sweeter looking than it's sister, the Cromwell.
Loved seeing it in the movie "Band Of Brothers".

Alright I went to the LHS today and picked up the old Tamiya M5A1 Stuart kit. I would have went with a different manufacturer but they were just overpriced in my opinion. I like to support the good old LHS but their prices are making it more and more difficult. And they didn't even have the paints I needed.
For the figures I might go with some old Dragon paratroops from the spares.
What I am goign with is a precarious moment where my Great Uncles group link up with a US armor column headed to Ste. Mere Eglise. You have this moment of great relief to see friendly armor among enemy territory and know that the landings were having success. Then a few hundred yards down the road...disaster.

No problem I will but this will be my last post and no progress until the weekend
I am on a daddy/daughter road trip looking at colleges and this hotel is the only 1 with free Internet so no more blogs or post from me until I get home on Friday
:_|
But I did bring my STuG III kit for the Stug Campaign and hope to get some work done on those tracks tonight

I did some more work last night, but didn't get a chance to get the pictures uploaded. I should have some good stuff for everyone tonight. Upper and lower hull are joined, bunch of weld beads added, etc.

Hi,
I have just enlisted for this campaign and would like to do some Axis armour. I have checked and found that the 352 Infanrie Division were operating in the named area during the initial invasion and a component part of them was the Panzerjaeger Abteilung 352. I found this photograph which is of a Marder M from the aforementioned unit, I won't be modelling it in this condition, but either stalking Allied armour or driving to the beachheads. Will this be ok? If it is I will go ahead and get the kit required.
All the best,
Paul

Starter pic. Not the best pic quality but the headline should date it as Monday's paper.
That's funny. The ad at Photobucket is for a 60x Fuji Digital Camera. You think they are trying to tell me something?

Hi Guys,
I'm afraid all the football is distracting me a bit too much from modelling.
Anyway, Sal, Jesse, great progress! They'll sure will be worth to look at!
@Anthony, I won't start a discussion about Centaur colors. that's already been debated to death.
@Nathan, looking forward to your AVRE. I also have it in my stash, I hope I can start it rather sooner then later.
@Alex, I'm really curious to see your dio develop and what you'll do with that old Stuart kit.
@Paul, your model is perfect, don't worry about that. I'm anxious to see more.
It seems you're all of to a great start!
Keep up the good work.
Dave

These are a couple of pictures from last night... some details added.
-two small drain holes at front armored ventilator covers
-weld beads added at small armored pieces protecting turret splash guard
-handle for radiator access on top of engine hatch
-add weld beads for rearmost engine deck panel
-add (2) T handles for fire suppression system
I also added weld beads all around the armored block-off plate where the hull MG would normally go on 75mm tanks, but don't have any photos right now.

@Dave, It's an old kit. I'm probably going to regret not going with the AFV kit. I'm not going to show any interior for this one so I went with the Tamiya kit.
By the way, some great work being shown so far. I'm really interested to see Nathan's Churchy come together.

Hello Dave,
I have a change in plans. Im pretty much done with the Greif, however theres possibly more figures and a Kubelwagon i may add to the dio and i dont have any of those items yet. I am also delayed somewhat on my second Panther build for the Panther campaign. So Im here today to post a pic and date of my entry for this campaign and ill begin the build almost immediately. I dont know yet if ill be able to get the wadeing stacks. I may think on scratching them up but its a big maybe! How soon after the landing would they have removed the stacks? Thanks Dave.
Thanks!
Gary

Hello gentlemen,
Here is my first installment of my D-Day build. I have completed steps 1 and 2. So far its Very simple and great fit. I drilled out the tow eye's on the final drive cover and the rear. Ill probably cut off the molded on grab handle on the rear door and replace with wire. Shoulda done it already but just caught it while editing the pics.
Ill have to do some touch up gap filling in a couple small places. Thanks for looking.

My latest update. Lower hull is basically finished. I just tack-welded (the plastic version of, at least) the bogies on for some nicer pictures, but they'll come off and get painted separately.
I was going to use an AM turned metal barrel on this, but it just didn't fit too well in the Tasca gun cradle, so I'm using the kit 2 piece barrel and 2 piece muzzle break. Just started the sand-filler-sand-filler-sand-filler-etc fun to get rid of the mold seem, but the detail on the muzzle break is actually BETTER than on the turned metal barrel.
Goal for this guy is July 13th, for the SC AMPS show. We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone ,
After hours of googling I've only managed to find two photos of the Crusader aa Mk.1 on the d-day beach heads. So let the build of the italeri kit commence , unfortunately no photographs because the kitmaker gallery is failing to load
That sherman is really coming along Jesse , much better than i can build

Blame Tasca. Great products. Worth the extra money to not have to deal with crappy kits. A little styrene strip and rod, and it looks great.
