Most engines were painted black, or a very dark grey.
Ok I'll paint the engine Black on the Sd.Kfz.7/2

Thank you Bob. But as I can't afford aftermarket it will be strictly oob. And are there any kits of the FlaK 43, as I can't find any online.[/quote]
Darren;
Hi! Trumpeter makes a Flak 43 (kit TRP2311), and also GreatWall Hobby does - kit L3519 (actually GWH is LionRoar, and they have a upgraded Flak 43 kit with metal shields and barrel, and a styrene kit with mostly styrene parts.). These are both "stand-alone" gun kits with, I believe, the S.An. 58 trailer. While I have never seen it, I THINK Italeri also has one out.
Terry Ashley has reviewed the Trumpeter and GWH kits on PMMS. Personally, I think the GWH kit is near to the Bomb for this gun, at least in 1/35.
Probably, from what I've read, the styrene barrel in that Dragon flak-track kit is pretty nice - and maybe can be tweaked with a tiny drill to open the side holes in the flash-hider.

Well... after seeing Brents entry (and hope he doesn't think I am envious at all ) I looked around for an affordable kit like his and found this:
It is still sealed and should be here in a week! Yes, I still have the York and the Duster and I always want the DML Armored Cab, but at around 60 bucks I didn't need to buy it when I had others to build. But this Tamiya kit looks like it will launch me back into building, especially after hearing the birds chirping this morning!
Spring is just about upon us after a long, grueling winter.

Hi!
So many excelent works going on!
I want to join to this campaign with this classic from the Vietnam era, a SA-2.
The problem is I suffer from "the modelist sickness", so every time a kit that reaches my hands, I need to cut some parts, and sometimes, I need to glue something... so I glued the body of the missile.
If the campaign leader lets me in, I will try a diorama of a Russian technician explaining the parts of the launcher to a group of Vietnamese soldiers.
Jeff I'll wait for your authorization to continue.
PS: Does anyone have pictures of the launcher with the access panel open?

Oh, that is not considered too much of a start... so please proceed with it as your selection!
Thanks for being so honest with revealing your kit.

Victor, I'm not sure which open access panel you are looking for. I found this launcher at the Naval Aviation Museum parked way back in the parking lot while I was there back in 2010. I suppose it will end up on display at sometime in the future. I have several pics of this launcher if you need some, let me know. Don M.

Lol ...... should be interesting to see different takes on the same kit/vehicle. I'm a bit like you too in that I've always wanted to build an armoured cab verion, I just can't afford anything like a new kit at the moment though so I have to build from the stash only.

And a little progress. About 2 hours I reackon as I spent a bit of time making sure the tracks sat correctly and with a smooth join. Also there was a bit of faffing about as the wheels are intended to rotate so they have those spongy polycaps and metal axels and some of the fit was a little vague. Not a problem as I glued everything, just took some care to get everything aligned ....

Very sweet choice Phil.
I wonder if I could get by with adding styrene to mine?

Hey Jeff!
I`m pretty sure you could manage something in styrene since from what I understood those were field mods. So: BRING THE SCRATCH BRO!

Hi all,
some nice choices here, even if there are many armored cabs
around
Here we go then, I´m doing something simple for this one. It´ll be a small desert scene with a couple of figures added
for fun :
15 minutes later:
Why can´t I just stick the parts together? I changed this as it apears far to weak:
after an hour:
that´s all for today, I´ll finish the build tomorrow.

Ooppps! I AM looking at another kit. It's an armored cab but not the price tag such as the DML's are at.
I will know soon.

@Jeff Bulmer
Nice choice Jeff, looking forward to see those resin missiles up, with the PE bits and some wiring, it's gonna look impressive for sure !!
@Jeff 'Campaign Landlord' T.
I did that one for the Blitzkrieg Campaign last year, it was a Tamyia shake&bake kit, I remember the AFVClub 20mm flak took me more time to build than the halftrack...
For it's age, it is still a fun kit to build, no fitting issues or problems..
Here's a pic
@Victor
Welcome Victor ! Nice kit !
I've been following your diorama... it's an amazing work !!
@Gary
Hi !!!!
Great to have you on board !!!!
We are expecting a perfect build ! as usual...
By the way, did you called Dragon ?
@Brent
Good start so far !
@Philippe & @Paul
Welcome, glad to see you guys here too !
@Darren
Nice progress too !
I hate Halftrack suspension & wheels..
Here's my progress, almost forgot to post it..

@Jeff B--nice to see another Oerlikon armed vehicle, even if it us not in the campaign.

Well here’s my project for this campaign. Eastern express BTR-D with Skif ZSU-23-2. Extras include 2 set of photo etech parts for zvezda and skif BMD, left over parts from zvezda BMD-2, master club tracks and figures.
