Hey guys, there's some great stuff happening here, good to be part of a really active campaign
Made a little more progress on the old Tammy. The top two pics show the loaders legs being used to "set up" the seats while the glue dries so that their feet sit on the foot rests correctly.
Here's a lesson in how not to do things right.
Firstly I don't have a lot of resource books, can't afford em, so for anything I'm not familiar with I use the net. Did a search and the first decent build log of the old 7/1 I found showed how the guy had made the kit side skirt mesh sit "better" by cutting and fitting them into the angle-iron recesses on the outside of the frames.
So I raced off and started doing the same. As I was doing it I had a nagging thought that the mesh would have more support if it was a solid piece tack welded to the top of inside/top part of the frame. The way I was fitting it meant it would be prone to a stoutly wielded kraut boot popping the weld on the mesh when they stood on it ....
After I'd finished the rear frame, I went back to the pc and after 15mins managed to deduce it should just be plonked in one length on top of the frame and not fitted fancy-pants wise to each partition. Oh well ....
Slapped one loader together to make sure his hands were actually gripping something and not waving about crazily and as you can see, at least the two big sides have the mesh fitted correctly !!!!!

Christopher: Very nice idea indeed This I really look forward to see.
Gary: This sweet stuff falling (endlessly) is called snow angel of depression or plainly: White poop I wish it would stop SOMEDAY SOON .

Brent, like you, I have a limited budget for research material, and for that matter, modeling in general. So the net is usually my go to resource. After a few Google searches I'm always amazed at what I find.
Your mesh looks really good as one piece. Will you be redoing the rear one to match the two side ones?

Hey Everyone,
I'm back from my trip, and man do I have some catching up to do!
There's some really great work going on here. The half-tracks seem to be ruling the day.
I've managed to get some minor stuff done. Mainly small details added to the chassis and getting the guns together.
Next up is more minor detail and replacing the plastic handles and lifting rings with wire.
Is it me, or is Tamiya's plastic a bit hard and brittle compared to Dragon's?
Keith

Than again for the comments guys. Gary your chassis is looking good, I went minimilistic with mine Hey Kieth, good to see some heavy armour. I've worked on this (Tamiya SdKfz7/1) and the Tamiya late Jadgpanther as well as Dragon late Hummel and yeah, certainly the older Tamiya plastic is a lot tougher than Dragons, esp the ancient 7/1's.
Hey Joel, nah the back is done now. I fitted it by running suprthin CA around the edges and it's gonna tear if I pull it up. I don't have enough left to replace it. A few ammo boxes, tarp etc should take the eye off the mistake
Brent

Everyones been building like crazy for this campaign...well, here's my progress !
I really enjoyed bending the radius on the PE stowage boxes. A simple way of ensuring I had them close was to use the kit parts as a bending tool! The PE latches...well thats for another day....
How about a pic of the business end of this TEL..

Details, details. I cut out what appears to be an access cover to move it on top of the kit provided engine screen. This is more in line with the real vehicle.

Aloha All: A lot of great progress going on here. Nice work Gary, Brent, Keith and Jeff.
I have scratched part of the drivers hatch hinge lost to the carpet monster and got the drivers hatch installed along with filling the gap between the glacis and the front deck. Still need to fill in the ends.
Otherwise, the lower hull assembly is complete. However, test fitting revealed that the gun bucket does not sit fully into the lower hull, so I will need to sand the inside of the ring quite a bit. In the photo you can see a "line" about 1/2 way down. This is acutally a small lip that the bucket gets hung up on. Something for this weekend.
Happy Modeling, -zon

Hey Phil, nice start to your build bro. Hope things go well for you from here. Mine is killin me man! The cab fit is horrendous and im having to break off stuff, cut, sand, dremel and repaint. The instructions got this completely wrong. Shoulda built and attached the cab, then the engine and finally the front fender and radiator assembly which is backwards from the instructions. Ill carry on however and make it work!
Jeff, outstanding build fella...lookin good
Zon, im lovin your build my man...looks awesome!

Well, my other projects are stalled for the moment so I have a chance to start a kit for this campaign. I've been cleaning up the 38t based stuff in my stash so it seems fitting to build Dragon' s Flakpanzer 38t. It will be s.o.b. as the kit comes with everything you need. 😊

Hi there everyone, some cool stuff shaping up here:
@ Brent. nice one, are you using the original Tam. figures too
@ Gary: oops, sorry to hear that dude, but I´m sure you´ll
master it
@ Keith: cool choice there and looking good too
@ Jeff: Wow, mean mashine. Howe are the tracks I read in mag that they are extremly delicate.
@ Zon: what can I say to that, except cool
@ Phil: my freind your getting there and it´ll look perfect too
Well here´s where I´m at, got a dark wash on, then matt clear from Revell aqua range, another wash, painted the barrel with Tam XF 1 black and polished it with graphite and then started to beat the whole thing a bit:
next up is dust, then sort the base out and add the figures Could be done next weekend
Paul

Paul / Gary- thanks for the comments ! The tracks are typical friuls...very time consuming, but worth every penny on this build. They included a new drive sprocket since the kit one was too narrow for the metal tracks
Honestly..it's the only thing thats going smoothly on the build!

Gary: thanks for the encouragement. Sorry to hear about the instruction mess you have to work with. I know you can get it done though!
Paul: thanks! Your gun is looking fantastic. Wear and tear is spot on and the color is awesome. Are you doing a crew and a truck to put it on? (hint, hint)
Robert: nice work so far. Keep it up.
