I have liked colour and in searching the A.J. Press books on the Panther. I have found a few colour photos that show a multitude of colour on the road wheels> Thus I took advantage of it and painted the road wheels an array of camouflage colours. Base colour is oxidrot with dunkelgleb and olivgrun. which will also include the deck, the turret is another story.

Well, I pulled out the M55 today to start getting it ready for the M39. Since the M39 is currently occupying space on my mockup of the museum facility, I figured I needed to do something to move forward on this project...

Plus, having just reassembled a real M55 today, I figured I should dig into the kit and get over the intimidation factor of all that brass...

Well Gents here is my Gepard with the first round of paint. I did the desert camo like I found on the web for something different. Weathering and other shadings will commence this weekend hopefully! LOL Again all comments welcome!!

The gun barrels still have some wiring to be done but they will be there when she's finished! Have Fun!!!

That modern German desert scheme is really cool and you've done a great job on it LoneWolf.

Nice builded and painted Gepard.
German didn`t use desert camo on Gepard, the "last" Gepard wear that camo.

Hey Victor
Thanks for the compliment but earlier in this thread I posted a picture of at least one Gepard with a desert scheme. Besides, I figured something different than the usual three color NATO scheme. Have Fun!!

Yes AFF is done except for the figures that I want to put in it, and I have the Ozelot to go with it.

Here are some pics of what I was able to get done tonight, I think I glued a part or two wrong though because I can't get the rear turret door that holds the radar equipment to shut all the way. Unless it's designed to be built with the door open and exposed. If anyone can tell me what is what, it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyways here are the WIP progress pics.

And this is my dog "Libby" she makes sure I'm not screwing anything up, and always points out where the parts are that I drop!

sorry for all the pics but thanks for looking, and thank you for letting me participate in this build!

thank you, I had planned on spending more time detailing the rear interior and radar equipment, but for some reason, I stopped where I did, maybe because I was happy, I don't know.

Anyways there are some great builds here! and to me this gun tank is like the ultimate in anti air craft. I got a good deal on the kit too.

Gepards..Gepards everywhere...and mine sits stalled waiting for me to get back and get started on it again!

@Lonewolf--the desert camo looks great, very convincing. What's next on it?

@G--Wow, you completed your Gepard quickly. And did a great job in a small amount of time. Very nice pre-shading and color modulation. It's difficult to make a one-color paint scheme look realistic. You have a cute 'carpet monster guard dog'. I think my 10 week old puppy would be more hindrance than help in finding parts on the floor.
I have a few questions: Is that the turret starboard antenna mount I see sitting on the turret roof? Is that an alternate location for it? What material did you use for the antennae?

@Sal--lots of detail on your truck and gun. Looking forward to seeing it come along.

A reminder of where I left off. My trip has been extended a week. And between that and the new dog my bench time will be limited once I get home.

yeah according to the instructions I was suppose to put two antennas on the unit, one on the angle, and off to the side, and then the one standing straight up. I used styrene material in "Rod" form in .20 thousands material, I got the material from my local hobby town usa, it fits in the spot perfect and really looks the part. If I need to mount a antenna that's bending and when I'm trying to create the illusion of movement, I simply use 5lb test fishing line that's been painted black.

@G. hmmm...thin styrene wouldn't survive long on my builds. My kits get dusted often (I have a wife who's OCD causes her, and thus me, to be a cleaning nut). And they get a bit mishandled in the process. I've been using guitar string for antennae of late. Different sizes for different scale. It works for 1/35th down to HO (1/87th).

It's tough, durable, and looks the part.

So what's next on your workbench?

The painting is getting on!

Primered all the parts and started (my first) pre-shading of the turret.

Thinned the paint a wee bit too much, so I'll be doing at least another layer.

@Keith
I'm still working on the shading, detail painting and I have one figure that I'm going to mount in the turret.
@ Pytagoras Nice flakpanther. I would drybrush the subsequent coats to lighten it up.
As To antennae, Guys I us a carbon fiber rod I get at my LHS. It comes in 3 foot lengths and one piece lasts me five or six models

I've been feeling sorry for myself (metal health sucks). Anyway today I managed to get some time at the bench to work on the bit that goes bang.

I'll get some paint slapped on it later.
