Jeff, I assume you don't have a problem with me starting my diorama base? I should easily be able to find the measurements for my kit and can plan around it. Come March 1st I'll start the actual kit....that's provided I can get the base started at the very least.

No problem at all starting on a diorama, just not on the kit. I don't expect newspapers with the date or anything like that at the start, this is just for fun!

Cool. Now, knowing me as well as I do, I'll lose complete interest in my diorama idea and never get it done. I should try to avoid that!

Not that this will work for you (it does for me) I like to work on several projects so I don't get burnt out, PLUS... I skip around a lot on a build and not follow the step-by-steps either.
That way I don't lose interest and if the build does nothing for me I can always abandon it and save it for later when I do.

Always skip steps when glue is drying, something needs to be painted individually (I don't mask small parts on a 'finished' kit) or if there's PE to do. Road-wheels and suspension set-ups tend to get skipped around on a lot too, damn Germans and their complex inter-leafed wheels!

M55 with all the Griffon goodies arrived today (thanks Nathan) and the M18 will be enroute shortly. I figure by March I'll snag an M39 conversion and will be good to go!

I may look into something else by then too. I like the Duster but want something older too, like maybe a Skink?

Hey Jeff, for this campaign does the anti-aircraft need to really shot at the target or can it be a vismod ment to simulate a SPAAG? Reasoning why I'm asking is I have a M109 just sitting around and been wanting to model the ZSU-23 vismod use by opfor back in the 80's.

AFV Club M18 arrived today (thanks again Nathan!) and I'll be ordering a Legend M39 conversion after the first of the year. Haven't found much more info on the M39/55 combo, but I do have some original documentation from the unit to work from.

Hey Chris!
I'm going to say... YES.
For one I am not an Anti-Aircraft expert and two... it' kinda like the JEEP Campaign. It just looks like an Anti-Aircraft vehicle, so it's in!
Now I want something special to build. I already built the Coelian for the Panther Campaign.
I wonder if I can build a 1/16th Skink? I have the Quads already?

I'm still wondering... flakpanzer or Halftrack w/flak.
That small Tristar Flakpanzer I is a good pick.

Hi Jeff, that would be really crazy , but tell me where
youŽd get the turret .
Although in that scale you could do a sandcast in your kids sandpit in the garden

Hi Paul!
Well I would take either a high bustle Tamiya turret or a low bustle turret from Nick and modify it.
I may retract from wanting to do this right now as I am full up to my neck in special projects.
I do have a few 1/35th kits in the stash with a layers of dust on them.

I should be finishing up my current build (also an AAA piece) within the next couple weeks if all goes well and once that's done, I'm ordering the Legend M39 conversion. I've got the rest of the components and I've put them all away until March so I won't be tempted to start!

@Jeff Well if they are older than 2000, then you could build them after you have built that beautiful Monogram Kitty Hawk in my "Jurassic Plastic" campaign
@Jon: are doing the M39 with the Maxon turret That I will follow with great interest as I also would like to do this later on.

Paul,
I sure am! Unfortunately all of the documentation I've got on it is a few operational reports, but the good thing is the one photo we know to exist has most of the necessary information. I'm hoping that when I get all of the documentation from the battalion I'll be able to decipher what vehicle number it wore. We know its bumper codes were 8A52AA * HQ??, just not sure what individual vehicle number. The "W" vehicle number on the side is completely visible too, which is great.
I'm chomping at the bit to get this one started!

Hi I think I might have seen a skink turret that was over grown when I was stationed at CFB Shilo back in the early 80's. Might be a good build . Could try scratch built 72nd turret or 35th conversion or both not positive yet.

Mount it on a vehicle OR a fixed emplacement with some more crew members and you're in!
