I just wonder if a white gun carriage/breach would look alright in an open top fighting compartment on the Sturer Emil?

Not many pictures of that and most completed kits are the same color as the rest of the vehicle.

~ Jeff

Not sure Jeff.
I think it would be panzer grey / body colour, maybe some burnt iron / steel for some parts.
But not sure about it..

Nice pics John and thanks but I do believe I will paint, at least THIS one, a Luftwaffe grey which is an aircraft light blue for the gun assembly.

More progress pics later!

Hi John, Excellent build, love those details. Since I started very late, am struggling to catch up with you people. This is my 3rd KV and still a joy to build. So, hopefully I will be able complete this one on time.
Hi Team,
I have started my build planning to catch up so that I am not left behind. Here are some progress pics.
Trumpeter KV1 Heavy Turret 1942. I am planning to depict the KV1 Late (Feb – Sep 1942).
Completed step1 and step 2

I have opened up the slot for headlight cable which I understand is wrong. Never realized that the correct one is the inner most slot. Need to plug this one open the next one about 5mm towards right.

I have the engine deck from the earlier build which does not have the dome. Earlier I thought I need to use the flat engine hatch cover but after going through 4BOGreen site, understand that the kit part is the correct version. Can any one confirm? Refer the pic. Below:

What is the part which I have shown on the left (outlined)? Can some one help please...
I am stuck at step 2. There seems to be an ugly gap running along the edge on one side while fixing the engine compartment area (part Q3). Hope I could finish the problem area ASAP and move along. I used Mr.surfacer 500 to fill the gap and waiting for it to dry. I will start with the wheels in the mean while.

Very nice Jose !
Can you add some sag on those tracks, between the rollers ?

What markings are you planning ?

A few progress pics.

Sorry, no plumbing or electrical wiring to be ran... just straight out of the box building which was fun and challenging on its own. Maybe I'll do so on the leFH18/40/2 (sf) auf G.W. Pzkw. III/IV for the TD Campaign.

Jeff,
The Sturer is a beuatiful kit aside the problems wich it have... Try to get the Hobby Boss tracks, you can change too the main rollers components (the kit of HB included that)

Wow, you guys are giving me the SPG bug!

Jeff: Nice choice on the new barrel! I agree, that kit already has plenty of detail

Mukund: Welcome aboard! I don't know offhand what that piece is for. I took a quick look through my book on KV's and didn't see one yet, leading me to believe it may be located on the bottom of the hull? It may just be an optional piece that isn't used on your variant.

Jose: Your ISU-152 is coming along nicely! I agree with John though, you should try to get the tracks to sag a bit between the rollers since they were very heavy "dead" tracks.

Here is my first in-progress photo of my project. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo.

I have most of the construction done as you can see. After everything has dried and I get some scraping done I will get the base coat of paint on it. I am really dreading the tracks.

Thanks,
Randy

Jose: Don't worry about it, those kits were likely intended for wargaming and such.

Mukund: That was a really cool link, thanks for sharing! Your weld beads are looking good, what are you using to create them? I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can't find something about that piece, it looks like something that may be unique to earlier models.

Randy: It's great to see you get some facetime in the campaaign, looking good!

Small update on my KV as well...

I think I might have to reduce the weld beads a bit

It seems the IS/KV is slowly taking over this toppic. Well I dont mind. The most problematic part of the build are the tracks. As anticipadet, the fitt was not good and the individual links needed some sanding and adjustment.

Some great looking progress here! Awesome!

So, on mine... I am in the paint drying stage.

Need to then do a little detail and touch-up painting by hand.

I think this stuff I have will lighten up the color a bit after the decals are applied so I might be a bit happier once everything is finished and this thing goes together.

I STILL have all those road wheels to put together and I'm on the fence about some AM tracks. I saw some HB on a Emil and they look awesome so I think anything less will look like crap. The sag the HB gave is what I want.

Nice progress Jeff, Maybe I pick the Emil up in my LHS next time I see it.

The KV-1S is completed, I will start with primer and paint today. Since some of the additional parts were moulded very poorly I left away all the optional equiplment, towing cables, additional towing rings and spare track links.

Bruce,
I would like to enter this Tiger Mid, somewhere in Russia/Poland 1944. I am still undecided which Abteilung. It has been sitting in the stash for too long.

Best Regards,
Raul
