Jeff:
I think some stretched sprue rods for fillers followed by a little sanding could address these nice gaps! That would be my first approach - stretch to about the diam you like, cut to length, soak in thin cement 20 sec or so, lay into gaps wet and let completely dry - and then scrape and sand a little. IF the rods are a snug fit, scraping should bring them down to surface nicely.
Alternatively, if you have some thicker styrene sheet, you could cut a few strips and wedge them into those gaps and follow up the same.
Hope this does not happen with my little KT coming in!

Bob... I can see that great minds think alike I went the stretched sprue route. It did come out fairly well,I've just been so busy,I have not had time to really post anything
What kit are you getting for your mini KT?My build is Dragon's Armor Pro #7345,Jagdtiger,with crane. It came with about half a sprue with stuff on it that looks like it could fit a KT,hooks, shackles, fenders, jack, rear deck covers, ect. You could end up with the same problem,if it's a Dragon kit.Don't worry though, the fix was pretty easy
Pics to follow.Jeff T.

Happy Thanksgiving guys,I have two questions this morning.
1.I'm thinking that My Jagdtiger should have steel roadwheels,is that right?
2.I had to shave off the boss that the fire ext.mounted to to make room for a lifting hook on the rear deck. Can some one give me an alternate location for it?Thanks,Jeff T.

The Jagd.Tiger is just a stretched Tiger II chassis thus have the steel wheels. Either Henschel or Porsche. As for the fire extinguisher should go aft of the right rear circular grill just between the lifting hook and the engine access hatch. The small lifting hook should be centered on the rear of the cooling grill lip. There should be enough room there for the extinguisher if not we have a problem.

Trevor, thanks for the info on the wheels, thats what I thought.
On the other hand,It looks like we may have a problem with the extinguisher,I just don't think there is enough space for the hook and ext. I'll check in the morning.Jeff T.

Uh oh... I'm in the company of a GREAT MIND! Ok OK, jist funnin'
Glad this would work out for you. I'm pretty much a fan of stretched sprue and slivers of styrene sheet for much of this sort of thing. Just did a little gap-filling with sprue on my Tamiya Pz II build going on in Light Tanks...
My KT... I'm right now fingering the Dragon ArmorPro KingTiger w/ Porsche turret w/zimmerit kit 7254. It's a pretty cool little version of the 1/35 kit, with only about 1/4 the parts (if that many)! And I'll actually have some chance of both getting it done and on time, given I have over-committed in campaigns and maybe review stuff!
IF I jump into this campaign, this will probably be my entry. It would be the first 1/72 armor I'll have built in 38 years! Wow! Makes a guy feel Ooooooold.
And I'm still be fervently hoping that I won't see this gap problem when I burrow into it!
Just off the weirder side... here's a little numerology for this kit... 72 for its scale, of course... and 54 for the year I first saw my parents, the house cats, etc.! As the Romans might have said (but in latin, se probabile): auspicious!

If it does not fit there, not too sure where to put it. By that time in the war most tools were placed on the rear deck so find a place that works. Unfortunately that is all that I can suggest.

Dark green base coat
Also started on the camo scheme on the turret, will have to do at least 3 coats of Dark yellow.

Bob... Maybe I should have said,Some minds think alike,GREAT I was impressed with the detail in my kit too.But don't worry about the hull fit,as you can see it was an easy fix.
Small rules Bub,kits don't cost much, you use very little paint and they build pretty fast.Don't be scared, enlist today.I sound like a recruitment poster
Trevor... I had to move the hooks, but there is just enough room for the ext.Since I had to shave the cutters off I may mount 2
John... Slow and steady wins the race,I'm thinkng about brushing the camo on my build,I will watch your progress.
Should have an update tomorrow.Still recovering from Thursday Jeff T.

And We're off to the races
Fisrt we had this
And now we have this
Next up,roadwheels painted, with bare steel on the contact surfaces.Doesn't show that well,I'll get a better pic later
Lower hull primed
And basecoated
Drilled out the lift tube and added a handle to the rear hatch cover
And last but not least,I found another small problem, this time with the tracks.
Whats wrong with this picture, other than its not very good
Model on,Jeff T.

Well it’s been a while but I have been a busy lad with the Kingtiger mostly with work on the wheels and tracks, you will notice I have already done a little painting using the hairspray technique and I have also added some of the muck that accumulates in the areas around the wheels and tracks as it was easier to start when the wheels were off. I have added some small parts to the tank in general which I am sure you will be able to see. Here are the first lot of pictures of the Kingtiger and I have included some figures I am looking to use in a cold weather diorama, the “Cold Wind” figure set from MasterBox are excellent in my opinion and I am also looking into Stalingrad’s 3580 - German Infantrymen, Winter 1942-45 Big Set however I am concerned about the cold weather tank crew and would like your thoughts and/or suggestions on them and an alternative preferably in plastic but I am open to suggestions for resin figures. The diorama if I ever get the time will show the kingtiger going into the frying pan while the troops are getting out.

Darren... Looking strong Sir All the extra hull work you did for the zimm is really paying off.
So are you going to try and show the tank being ambushed with the troops bailing out in a hurry,or just getting ready to go? All the figure sets look good to me,but,if you are going with an ambush type of scene,I think they look too relaxed. They just look cold and tired, with the exception of the crew, they seem to be comfortable. The sun must have been out that day Jeff T.

Jeff: The infantry are coming out and the tank going in, I did consider placing an enemy sniper in the mix but it would require a base that was too big. I agree about the crew and they will require some work but then again I will only 2 or 3 of them.
Tom: I am unsure about the German Geschutzwagen Tiger fur 17cm kanone 72 (sf) for this campaign however I am happy for the current members taking part to support or reject the application.

Tom and Darren... I am by no means an expert on German Armor, but looking around on the net,I found these two pages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nashorn
So, at first, it's a Nashorn built on the Panzer III and IV chassis, but if you go to this page, you will see it evolved into this http://www.achtungpanzer.com/grille-series-cricket-series.htmIf you scroll down the page it shows the Grille series 170mm K 72 L/50 as being the first type of this armor to use a Tiger Chassis.
Tom,I think this matches your kit,and if I'm reading this stuff right, then it is a Tiger, and your build is O.K. with Me
Jeff T.
P.S. I think it's funny that the Germans came up "Cricket" for this series, they where just so freaking big.Goes right along with the Maus, those where small too, NOT

Darren, your KT looks incredible. I can't wait to see the final paint! I think a mixture of tankers and infantry would be optimal. Perhaps the infantry a little bloodied as the tank moves in for support.
In my novice hood I have learned that assembling tracks sucks! Here are some fuzzy pictures of my progress. Still lots to do.

Jeff Hooper, I really like the look on those tracks !
Can you tell us what you used to achieve that look ?
Meanwhile I started painted the ambush scheme on the turret and the Dark Yellow patches on the hull.
Pics soon. Stay tuned.

J.H.... Yes,building tracks does kinda suck, but they look so nice.I will ask also, how did you finish them,'cause they look good
Well,I have made some headway too...
Upper and lower hull joined,primed
Under side of the sideskirts primed and painted
Lower hull painted
Tracks painted
Roadwheels gloss coated with a light pin wash,I may have to do one more app
Drilled out the exhaust
And rolled some PE
That's all for now.Model on,Jeff T.

Tom I concur with Darren as it is just a stretched Tiger II chassis. Just the same process as with the JagdTiger and the Cricket mounting the 170 and 210 just a bigger stretch.

Hi!
I have a Dragon KingTiger Porsche tank with zim, that suffer a lot of damage due a "soft" divorce.
Was done as "Anelise" with winther camo, fits that I do a reassembling or campaigns are only for vehicles from the box?.
Need scratch for some part, Mr. Muscle wash etc.
TIA, regards Alvaro
