Thanks Alex. You have a lot figures to do for your diorama my friend, good luck!
I understand what you mean about populating the diorama. I've finally settled on my base. I want the truck pulled over to the side of the road with everyone dismounted except for the person (male or female? I haven't decided yet) standing guard on the tanker. I have an idea for a zombie easter egg also, which is why I was looking for a skeleton.

Bruce, now I understand why you have these strange lamp-holders on your truck. It totally makes sense.
This makes me curious which other ideas you will build into your truck!

I have laid apart the doors and have worked on the alien walker.
Many items were removed or altered to get this thing away from the standard Gundam look. The basic layout wasn't changed, but new weapons (rebuild from the 1:144 Gundam accessory sets), new scratch-build head and battle-damaged forearm (amongs others) were added.

But pictures tell more as words, so here the pictures:

Quick update.

Figures are coming along. The picture is a little blurry. I reworked the pants legs a bit. I added equipment. There's still some work to do. I have to finish up the respirator units and give them arms.

I went ahead and started on the Mini Cooper. Great little kit that didn't cost much. I think it'll look great parked on the street. In such a scenario I figured the streets would be a mess with litter and abandoned cars.
The downside is that I would have liked to changed the steering over for US driving. Unfortunately, Airfix did not include that as an option and I am worried about damaging the dash to try to move it over. All Airfix had to do was have the steering culumn molded seperately. The other problem is that the tires lack any tread pattern.

Thanks to Christopher for the help with the Mini. I know nothing about the cars.

Looking at your sprue shots I can say the air vents are wrong and the center console is off too. Then again there are likely small differences between the UK and US models that I'm unaware of. Other than those two points it's a very accurate looking kit.

@ Thomas, yeah I wonder what else these people are going to come up with too!
The walker is looking good, can't wait to see it in paint and weathering.
@ Alex, your people are coming along great. I wouldn't sweat the left hand/right hand drive thing, unless you are planning to show the roof ripped off. If you don't mention it, most people won't notice it. Easiest fix? Flip on its' roof

Finally got the cab done to where I want it. Just waiting on Lucky Models to get the guns here.

This is the tanker with the armor added to the rear truck.

On this side of the tanker the wheels didn't fit as far under the fenders as on the other side, so I had to add a spacer to the fender to get the armor plate to fit on correctly

And test fitting the tanker to the tractor for the first time

Still a lot work to do on the tanker, so more to come

Thomas, the walker is really looking nice. Nice work on the modifications.

Bruce, I did some mock-up set ups last night to check positions and such for the scene. There's not going to be alot of room for zombies. I do want to have a couple. This thing could really get out of hand. I'm goign to try to make a few. I might use some as stragglers for the other EOD diorama.
I think I'll just build the MINI and park it on the street as planned. I hate to hide that interior but I think that it'll be obscured anyway just with the darker interior.

Alex, if you have problems with the right hand steering of the Mini - just do a few blood splatter on the inside, and nobody will notice it

Chris Weeks over at the Model Geek website just posted a URL for a company called Paintable Miniature ToyZ. Their newest release? 1/32 scale Box O' Zombies!!
The URL is http://boxozombies.bigcartel.com/product/box-o-zombies-set-1
Boy does this solve some problems! 6 figures in the kit, 2 girls, one woman, 3 guys, of which one is a crawler, avalible in green or purple

Thomas, Or just tint the windows.

Bruce, the zombie figures look nice. I also see it's labeled as set 1 so maybe there'll be some more down the road. Styrene or soft plastic?

I'd love to do a diorama where there's a lot of zombies roaming around. Maybe a defensive post with armed soldiers on the wall. Or maybe even revive the idea of a VIP being recovered and escorted out of an overrun area. Civilians, firemen, policeman, members of the news media.

"2.5" plastic figures" seems a bit big even for 1/32 scale. Would 1/35 not be more marketable?

@ Sean I'm not sure if they will be noticeably off or not since with vehicles the difference between 1/32 and 1/35 is 9 scale inches, but, as they say, the proof is in the pudding, we'll find out when my set gets here to chilly Florida

Yesterday I had nearly bought a box o' zombies.
But right now I don't need them, so I just put in on the wish list for my next project...

But it was close - very close

What I found were zombies for a boardgame (last night on earth) - maybe you find it interesting:

Zombies with grave weapons

Live Resin got here yesterday.

So i now have the 2 M240 machine guns I need, I'll start putting them together today.

While i was waiting for them to get here, I put the look-out stations on the tanker and started working on the first of my figures. I have purchased the Trumpeter Logistic Supply Team kit thinking that I could use at least 2 of the figures for my diorama. Now it looks like it's just going to be one. We'll see.

Hi all ,great to see all your work progressing .

No progress here , been working lots , but tomorrow is model club , and my friend is bringing the finished zombie cheerleader , so pics to follow .

I'm going to use this Verlinden figure , in a kind of " me n my ride" kind of thing .

I've just got to get some figure painting help ...

I'll see how I go tomorrow

Brian, your Schwimmwagen looks good.
The combination with the large tires gives a counterweight to the MG-mount.
I am very curios how it will look like together with your zombie-cheerleader.

I thought I could present the alien walker ready this weekend, but today I came to the decision to strip it completely. I had the Walker from the movie "District 9" as guideline for the dark grey body-color, but the combination with the metallic blue from the lifecolor Guns&Weapons set looks simply awful....

... on the other hand I was to hasty with the color of the body. Obviously I didn't wait long enough after applying the hairspray over the silver base coat.

The damage effect is OK,

but so I will learn how to strip color with Dowanol...

Have a great weekend

Pics as promised

the figure was painted by my good friend .

I think she has turned out increadible , Andrew said that the sculpting was really good , the throat was cut , and there are bite marks on the legs , so he went with lots of blood .

He did say that the figure is flexible , so no touching ...

The figure is head and shoulders taller than the Verlinden figure unfortunately , so I'm thinking just somehow photograph them together with the Schwimm buggy .

Thomas thank you ,I'm keen on Gundam , built a few myself , yes shame about the paint , good luck stripping it . I like your damage effect .

Fred , there should be link to the campaign on this thread , or go to campaign tab and sign up , more the merrier

@Brian, the schwimmwagen looks good as does the figure you have with it. Zombie cheerleader looks interesting too.
@ Tom, the walker looks good in the pictures. Battle damage is very well done, and the crackle on the hands and arms actually made it look like the walker had seen a few fights before, IMHO.

Finally got the M240's mounted to the tractor of this little beastie. This is the gun mounted on the passenger side

And the driver side, sorry about the blur, phone camera...

close up of the gun on the driver side

and the passenger side. These little resin guns are absolute works of art. I am in awe of the amount of detail and the options included in each kit

Well onto the weathering and then back to the tanker and figures

Brian, It's coming along good. And thanks for posting the pic of the painted zombette.

Bruce, It looks like she's coming along great. I like the gun stations in the sleeper. It'll be interesting to see it all come together.

Thomas, The walker is really looking great. I think it'll look amazing once done.

My Box O' Zombies arrived yesterday and I just wanted everyone to see what you get for your money. Right up front, you won't be disappointed.

molded in pale purple or light green, there are 6 figures in the box. I chose the purple because I think they will take primer easier, whereas the green might need more coats.

Unfortunately, I did notice a problem with the figures. Brian I am sure you can relate to this one. At 1/32 scale the figures are a "bit" bigger than a 1/35 scale figure. This is one of my Wehrmacht figures from my "Forgotten Soldier" diorama (now on hold for this campaign) and the zombies.

And this one is my poor frozen soldier on the base that the monster just so we get a good idea of the difference.

Luckily, I already know how I'm going to overcome this slight problem.
but more on that

Bruce, they look nice. I think you can get away without doing anything to the zeke on the ground and the female taking the big steps (far left). I think you can cut down the one armed male (3rd from left) at the wast. Remove a piece and super glue the torso back to the legs. Females #2 and #4 maybe shorten their legs at the skirt hemline. Are they wearing heels? Not sure if I'd try to remove them. And big momma, I'm not sure how I'd try to shorten her a bit.

I'm still working on my Hazmat guys. I've worked out what I am doing for their respirators and am now getting them arms and armed. I have one basically done and I'm currently working on the humvee gunner. I decided to use a MG from Dragon's Vietnam Helicopter Crew.

After I get the figures done I'll start on the base and the MINI. I still want to maybe add a couple of zombies to the scene. I'm taking pictures as i go and will post when I get up some batches.
