Just to prove I am still building a few pics of the start of the dio base. To the right of the building will be an alley with a gate across it. I will put up some better pics tommorrow once I have better light for pics!

As promissed yesterday some better pics now I have my new camera set up and daylight! Unlike yesterday's pics I had my delivery of half round evergreen so I have finished the rollershutter door, just need to add the ramp and then I can sort out the road surface.

Hi Thomas,

I'm Glad you like them and yes totally built from scratch. A base of 2.5mm styrene sheet + various evergreen and plastruct bits I had in my large spares styrene box. I have a dumpster I am just finishing up to use to plus my converted Unimog.

No pics yet but started my Hemtt last night. Going to build it OOB first then add all the EoD2 bits: just not sure what all thet will entail yet. Armour and/or cage around the cargo bed, wire mesh on the windows, platform for storage instead of the crane, and guns, lot of guns...

Quick update.

I started work on the MINI. I decided to keep it simple since it will serve as an accessory. I'll probably start on the interior shortly.

Somethign a little closer to being finished. I'll place the MG when I get the gunner done. The front grill added. I still have to come up with a license plate and some sort of CDC related markings.

And the Japanese NBC vehicle. Basically OOB. Left the paint basic overall dark green. I had to add clamps for the tow cable. I made those out of scratch PE runners. Still a good bit of touch-up left on this one. Might try to find some sort of UN or WHO markings for it. I'm not sdure how the JGSDF would feel about possibly firing upon civilians, even zombie ones, so I might cover the 50cal. I'll probably change out the antenae as well. I don't care for them being curved and one is actually thicker than the other.

And one of the HAZMAT guys. This one started his styrene life as a Dragon German Sniper figure. Sorry for the bad picture. My camera is having a difficult time focusing on the HAZMAT figures. Putting them in front of a darker background seems to help.

That's it for now.

This is the start of my Italeri HEMTT. The plan is to build it OOB initially and then I'll add the post-apocalyptic stuff. I just haven't decided how my world will end: zombie plague, global drought, meteor strike, rise of anarchy, new ice age, sea-level rise etc etc So what scenario do you fancy and what would you add to this truck to survive in that world? No idea is too crazy....but my skills may not be up to it.....but involving lots of guns is good!

That's one of my Landrovers in the cargo bed on the left, the engine in the middle and the chassis half done.

Sean, If you want a "different" EOD scenario, try one based on the Rapture. You could go with other biblical themes as well. Revelations is full of them. I guess it depends on your own religious views and just what you feel comfortable doing.

You could also have some fun with it and go with an "Idiocracy" style social downturn.

Maybe even toss in a bit of the "Doomsday Prepper" mentality.Have a group of preppers prepping for some disaster scenario. The emphasis being placed on their preparing instead of the one or more events they may be preparing for.

Or just keep it dark with a vampire outbreak like "Daybreakers" where humans are captured and farmed for their blood. It could be a group of humans trying to escape or preparing to attack a "farm". Or sci-fi with either humanity being exterminated (Dalek) or assimilated (Cybermen).

Have fun with it. It's not often you get to destroy the world on your own terms.

Thanks Alex: there are lots of choices!

Chassis done:

Detail painting of some parts may be an issue having put it all together first, but we can hust dirty it all up to hide any mistakes ;-)

Started the cab and cargo bed (just dry fitted here)

And the crane: it moves! Probably won't when painted but went together very nicely

Quick update. First up...the outbreak diorama.

I got a little work done on the Mini. I'm thinking about having it as a business vehicle. Maybe for an English pub. That would explain the steering wheel issue. I'd park it out front and maybe put a logop on the doors or rear quarter glass. I decided to keep it simple for the interior. I still need to touch up the trim before I wrap it up.

A better shot of the Hazmat guys. The Humvee gunner is put in place. Both figures still need soem touch-up. The thing on the Humvee's roof is supposed to be a loudspeaker. The passenger will be repeating a message for any survivors to come out. If you look back at soem of the other interior shots, you can see he's talking into a hand mic.

And now for the Road diorama.

I've been dragging my feet on the Road diorama. I decided to jump in and get some work done of the Mutt. The plan is to have it parked on the side of the road, abandoned. I ended up buzzing through it and actually changed the design idea in progress. The original concept was to have the seats and rear all enclosed. So there aren't any build pictures of it. But here's it getting a coat of green paint.

And here she is with the basic assembly done. She looks a lot like the one I did for the first EOD Campaign. That is intentional and will be noted in the backstory.

Here's the newest EOD Mutt up next to the one from EOD 1, for comparison.

That's it for now.

Brian: good work on the figure. I can see him casually checking out the cheerleader

Sean: Nice truck and crane. Can't wait to see a bunch of guns on that.

Alex: Looking good. I'm really liking the HazMat guys and the new Mutt. The pub logo is great, but I wouldn't even worry about it. Even over here I've seen right side drive vehicles. Certainly not very many, but one I remember was a Land Rover defender tricked out for serious off-roading, ironically for sale at the BMW / Mini dealership. Keep up the great work.

Happy Modeling, -zon

Some nice progress goin' on here!

I've been plodding along by comparison it seems, but have gone back thru the pgs to refresh the brain...

@Brian - COOL! I like it, totally original man.

@Zon - Zero bench time? Sounds awfully familiar! To answer you, the lrgr size does give some options. The weapons will be of the SB type. Simple civie stuff no military issue heavies...well maybe one

@Thomas - Great bldg! Really enjoy the WIP pics. Look forward to its completion. And I like the MechFig too! I guess he's gonna be taking a beating? Nice balance btwn the Robot & Bldg.
The size of the truck is truly gi-normous

@Bruce - TY for the tip. Had some luck with some of the chrome pcs, but some others were just plain stubborn even with the brake fluid. Nice job w/ the diamond plating and the XXL plow! Dude mine is a lil different and taking me all my time to complete Awesome rolling thunder you've got going - The cab and tanker trailer looks BADARSE!

@Paul - Clean bldgs! Very nice street scene for your subjects. You know what you want the final to look like I'm sure.

@Sean - I like that crane! Talk about hvy lifting!

@Alex - Great progress man! Real nice figure work w/ the DG/Hazmat guys, and all the vehicles are spot on.
I read over the blog from pg. 1, and I mean this as a compliment but you are the voice of reason on here, fer shure!

ex: I was going to give one of my srvrs a crossbow, but now I have to admit it does seem far-fetched; you're a survivor of the collapse and mass hysteria, seen first hand the horrors of infestation etc, and appreciate the very real threat of migrating HORDES, only to pick a puny crossbow as your weapon of survival?
As the bad guy says in Taken - "good luck"

More pics soon to follow but here's a couple. DeChromed, fitting, trimming, sizing, some assembly...

I used an old 72nd plane base

Trimmed to fit

This is what can hpn to a plastic F1 SuperStar stumbling into an EOD Campaign

That's it for now.
Thanks for any comments Cheers

Thanks all. There's some great work being done in this thread. I'm just trying to keep up as best as I can.

To be honest, I am close to dropping the Japanese NBC vehicle from the Outbreak scene. The NBC vehicle just requires too much explanation to justify its inclusion. The vehicle is basically done, but it wouldn't be the first (or last) time I've made a major change in the middle of a project.

Dave, for the Road diorama I built two crossbows. They are pretty simple. I've tried to build a more complex compound crossbow but it just didn't look right. Anyway, for that diorama more primitive weapons work as several years have passed and ammo, fuel, etc. have all become more scarce. My horsemen are more selective in how they fight.

Alex, Exactly.
I really like the idea of mixing in horses as I remember the original P o-t Apes film. Also, in Red Dawn, the young guns adapted their techniques in hitting back at the enemy invaders. Look forward to your progress, as I also have a slew of figs awaiting conversions.

Cast and crew. Planning took some time to seperate, combine, and designate these guys. Some were obvious choices for walkers, others as firing weapons etc...
while many more swapped arms, torsos and what not

On a side note, my 19yr-old freshman home on SB saw what I've been up to and donated these skate stickers to the cause!

Keep it comin' man, this too cool a campaign!
Cheers

I went ahead an finished up most of the MINI. So now I basically have all my vehicle done for the Outbreak dio. All in all it wasn't a bad little build and it'll make a great little addition to the scene. My biggest beefs were the tires that had no tread detail at all and the "glass". It was very brittle and the driver side shattered off a piece when being removed from the sprues. I cut it off so now it looks like the driver's side window is down.

I'll put the end of the work on hold for a few days. I need to work on my figures for the Civ/Proxy War Campaign.

Wow, I'm impressed about all your progress.
This campaign is getting better and better...
... and I am happy that I joined it

ALL of your vehicles are coming to life, I am really really curios how this all will look in the end.

Alex, your hazmat guys look great - the pose of both figures fit perfectly.

Brian, a while ago you asked me to paint the zombie cheerleader.
Well this weekend I was a bit bored with my diorama and wanted to something complete different.
So I took the zombie cheerleader onto my workbench and started a small weekend project - and here she is - fresh from the men's changing room with the femur of her preferred quarterback she loved to bits ...
(she will not fit into my alien diorama but perfectly in my 1:25 zombie hunter dio...)

I hope you like her

Thomas, Thanks. I did a little work on them tonight...ironically enough while watching The Walking Dead. I ended up doing two sets of replacement legs. A couple of the figures looked like they were in action poses and I don't want that. I want them to look like they are walking down this urban street.

The zombette looks nice. A well-done paint job. I was thinking more of a stripper or a prostitute than a cheerleader though. I guess she could be a cheerleader for a professional team.

I'm hoping that one of you guys doing a zombie group will make one of them look like Waldo from Where's Waldo?

Slight accident here
I was working on the Mosquito I am doing for the Devils in the Dark campaign, and managed to shake a can of paint off the top shelf of my work station...which landed right on the finished tractor...oops

Let's see if Humpty Dumpty can get this one back together again

Tell the truth Bruce: you were "flying" your Mozzie?

For anyone with access to BBC and interesting new 3 part mini-series taking a different slant on the zombie genre: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00szzcp

"Recovering" zombies or PDS afflicted: "Partially Deceased Syndrome". I've not seen the first episode yet but sounds interesting.

Bruce, I guess the bright side to the accident is that any repairs can be attributed to damage and the survivors piecing their equipment back together as best as they can. Slap a strip of styrene over a break and fake some ugly weld beads.

Sean, One of the things that appeals to me about this campaign is the variety of perspectives on these EOD scenarios. We get to see how folks from different nations/cultures view them. Anyway, hopefully BBC-America will show "In the Flesh".
