Hello Sean,

Sorry to hear from your exit from this campaign - I looked like you were nearly ready with your truck...

May I ask what happened to your truck?
Was he trying the direct way from your desk to the ground?

Yeah, it was near finished....was just waiting for this weekend to get some additional weathering products. But it drove off the windowsill in the work room, aided by little hands which gave it additional acceleration. I have all the bits but am too depressed to trying putting the chassis back together at the moment...cab, bed & crane remained relatively intact, just separated from the frame.

Sean, I'm sorry to hear about that, especially so close to completion. It was a good looking vehicle.

I don't know what else you were planning to do to it, but I think it looks pretty much there in those last few pictures. I'm wondering if Phill would allow those to be your final pictures and uploaded to the gallery.

@ouch! Sean, sorry to hear the truck took a nose dive! I managed to drop a full can of spray paint on mine It took me awhile to get up the will to go fix it and move on.
Which brings me to what I've been up to lately. After the accident I concentrated on the Devils in the Dark campaign. Now that that is done I repaired the tractor and started on the tanker again. Pictures are better than words So we'll get right to it...

The M-24 rifles and scopes from Live Resin. 2 of these are going into holders in the towers on the tanker with one of the figures holding a third.

The tanker with the 2 guard posts installed. I want to put barbed wire around 3 sides of each tower.

and the view from the top

Turns out pre-made barbed wire is expensive! In the order of a set of 1/35 scale barbed wire costs as much as 50 feet of the real deal. So, using my little handy-dandy 3rd hand and some copper wire I've had hanging around for a few years. Some super-glue, a small pair of wire cutters and something to place the free end of the wire on.

cutting a small length of wire, about one inch, twist a loop in it, space it about 1/4 inch from the previous barb, super glue it in place and then trim the ends off.

Once the barbs are on you take a second wire and wrap it around the first, making sure you go around each barb.

like this

once that is done, give the wires a few twists ( at least 3) and you are ready for the next one.
This one took me about 2 weeks....because it is boring!
Cut the wire, glue the wire, wait...trim the wire and start again
After measuring it out, it looks like I'm going to need 4 lengths altogether

Everybody keep up the good work, it's all coming together now

John, how about just using the ribbon from EOD 1. Maybe change the colors and/or add a "2" to it. I might try to play around with it a bit later. But if anyone has any ideas or wants to take point on it, please feel free to do so.

After all the problems the alien walker finally has his colors.

It's only the basic coloring - detailing, weathering and other stuff will be added during the next days.

So here's how he looks:

Front and Backside:

and from the sides:

I know, the gun under his right arm is wrong - it was late last night when I put everything together.
But luckily it's not glued on.

Cheers

Howdy guys ,,, I finally got the time to take a good look at our campaign and man oh man the work is even better than i expected ,,,thanks a heap guys for making this another great EOD campaign .

Now on to other things ,,

Thomas ,,, dude your dio is looking utterly amazing and i read about the problem you were having with your lanky zombies.
One idea which i was thinking about which would solve your problem would be that your zombie problem all started because of a chemical issue at some top secret military base,,like the good ol Resident Evil movies ,,hell would solve alot of problems
Oh as for what you said before dude about my health problem sounding disturbing.. well falling off a high thing is not recommended
Well blown off anyway
Oh by the way Thomas ,, the robot looks brilliant
Sean ,, Mate glad those little hands didnt do to much serious damage and your not giving up ,,your truck is looking very cool

Bruce .. Love the home made barbed wire ,,now all the other guys know an easy way to make it too .
Me i am lucky to have like 6 packets of the already made stuff and yes guys ,,, way easy to cut yourself with lol

Well guys i am off for a wee sleep ..these pills i'm taking for the head aches make me sleepy as hell .

Thomas, nice paint job on the mega-bot. That camo looks fantastic. The yellow shock coil springs were a nice touch.

I'm not going to finish the Road diorama. I just don't have the time. The Mutt will find its way into some other project. I should have the Outbreak diorama done. Working on some survivors at the moment.

Hello Guys,

thank you all for your kind words

During the last evenings I have tried to finalize the walker (to be honest, I don't want to see him on my desk anymore).

He got some black washing overall (what I usually not do) and some colored details.
But look yourselves ...

Overall it's OK for now (some dusting will follow before it's finally placed on the diorama) but I need some help from you...

The battle damage - it's not good that way.
The bullet holes just don't look right.

Do you have some pictures (for Youtube-clips) where I can see, how hits from 0.5 MG ammo and 40mm ammo from the MK19 look like?

I did not find anything really helpful...

cheers

Update. I repositioned the figures so that they appear to be coming from around the corner. I added a survivor. The hazmat guys are checking him over. I put him in the street to avoid it looking like they were shooting him. I was going to put him against the shop wall but that looked like they were setting up for a firing squad. I might add a survivor in the back of the Humvee to get the idea across that they are getting survivors, not shooting them.

I've still got some work to do. I'd like some feedback before I push through to wrap it up.

Hi alex,

I like the story of your diorama.
It looks like the pictures you see on TV (at least I have only seen such scenes only on TV, many others may see that quite too often in reality).

The figures, their clothing in hazmat-suits and their postures fit perfectly together.

At first I had some doubts that your composition would work together - but the outcome looks great.

From a figure-painter's point of view there is some room for improvement on the figures themselves (at least it looks like that on the pictures), but that's only a minor aspect.

The street is too clean (exactly as in my diorama is right now) but I suppose you will change that later on...

Cheers

No phots yet but I'm back in the game. It will just look a bit more battle weary which is appropriate for this campaign.

Sean, good to hear that you're still in the game. Your truck was too nice to not be usable.

Thomas, thanks for the comments. The figures are a weak point in the diorama...which is bad because so much of the diorama rests on those figures telling the story. I'm pleased with the poses of most of them. My favorites are the guy next to the humvee holding the m16 and the guy peeking around the corner. I'm afraid that that is as good as they are going to get.

I'm not very good at figure painting....I really don't have the hands for it any more. I don't have full use of my right hand so it makes painting a bit more difficult. I couldn't get the white to look like I wanted.

There'll be some touch-ups and some additions. I plan on avoiding much damage. I want it to look like the streets are abandoned. I'm thinking about adding a police barricade.

Hi Alex,

sorry to hear that about your right hand...

Maybe you can find some hints and tips reading the tutorials massive-voodoo (Blog (in English) of some figure-painting artist from Germany)

link to massive voodoo

Sean, nice to hear that you're back in the game...

cheers

Thomas, To be honest, I'm probably going to dismantle the diorama after the campaign ends. I'll probably reuse the gas mask heads on another project I've been thinking about for a bit.

I'm not very happy with how this one has turned out, but alot of that is my fault. I really overplanned and then had to redo a lot of it.

This project has been fun though. I've used it to try out some things. There's definitely some things I would have done differently.

If there's a EOD 3 I'll probably go back and do an armored vehicle...like Dead Reckoning from Land of the Dead. Maybe have it parked and the crew loading up while guards are standing watch. That'll give me an excuse to fabricate an interior and cargo space.

Hi Alex, you're being far too critical of yourself. I like those figures and think the layout, position & poses all speak volumes. I really like your dio....but it does need a bit of weathering.

Thanks Sean. I am my biggest critic. I've withdrawn from a couple of campaigns here because of not liking the way a model was coming out. Not to mention quite a few partials builds have found their way to collecting dust because of it.

It's a learning process so every little bit gets filed away to be used later.

The plan is to weather it some. I've got a sign for the shop as well as some decals for the glass. Wear ans staining on the road really doesn't show. I'm not sure if you can see that some of the cracks in the sidewalk have lumps. Those'll be painted like they are grass growing through the cracks.

Roman, looking nice. It'll be interesting to see this one as it builds up. What M113 hull is that? M163?

Well armed but they'll still be able to reach in those windows and with such a low ride you're restricted to roads with no debris scattered on them. When it comes to the end of days you'll want a truck!
