As for the JS-2 it was primed last nt and sprayed this morning with what I use for Russian Green
Now its back to my homework that is due on Wednesday

I got a Tamyia set of 38cm Shells in metal (great looking) set them up on the racks.. for nothing.

Anyway here's my progress no the mighty KV :

Hola Jose ||

I see you are building that same kit for the Trumpeter's Campaign.
Did you have any fitting problems with the KV-2's hull ?

I had no problems with the turret.

Paul;

OK - I have a chance to get one of those Tamiya Finnish BT-42 kits - a captured ex-Soviet (Red Army) Russian BT-7 converted by the Finns to a sort of howitzer-assault gun/tank - for a fair price.

Would this be a fair player HERE in this campaign?

PLEASE Tell me "YES!" so that I can rush out and own it and build it right now while I have some time and little else needing to get done!

Hello Bob,
well as you have so kindly asked , then yes you may.
It fits perfectly dude, it's a captured vehicle, it's been upgunned , and then it was sent back to hunt it's previous owners

John, she's looking good my friend.

Alrighty! I'm flyin' and buyin'!

Oh, right, mate... but you forgot to mention the sad final truth of all this capture - refurb - up-gun - use against the former owners stuff... For the BT-42, it was ... go out and DIE! Not the most-successful conversion ever fielded. But it does look cool! And it's a Tamiya kit, so I expect it will be a smooth build, too!

KV-2 Model 1940 PzKpfw KW II 754 (r), Panzerkompanie (z.b.v.) 66, Malta invasion force, 1941
In the spring of 1941. the Wehrmacht was debating whether to invade British-held Crete or Malta as part of their Mediterranean campaign. In the wake of the summer invasion of the Soviet Union, several KV-2 tanks were captured intact, and seemed ideally suited to serve as bunker busters for operations on Malta. Several KV-2s along with some captured T-34s were formed into a special company of (z.b.v.) 66 for the Malta operation. In the event, the high costs of Operation Merkur against Crete led to the Germans abandoning plans to invade Malta. The KV-2s were later committed to the fighting near Demyansk in August 1942. The KV-2s selected tor Malta were painted in the March 1941 tropical camouflage scheme of RAL 8000 Gelbbraun (Yellow-brown) and RAL 7008 Graubraun (Gray-brown). They carried the usual national insignia, and were modified with an added PzKpfw III commander's cupola.

Update.

This is the basic premise of the scaled back base. Three figures. The one in all white is a frankenfigure, constructed from bits and pieces from the spares. The other two are from Tamiya's Field Briefing set.

The base was mapped out. I used cardboard to build up areas. I add a penny to all my bases, covering them with groundwork.

Double-check and make a few last second adjustments.

And now the Celluclay. This batch was a lot more soupier than I expected. I knew that it would take a few days to dry so I put it in a back room.

Finally dried, I painted it white and discovered my mistake. Thanks to the overly watered down celluclay, the footprints I had made had filled in.

I mixed up a new batch of Celluclay and added a layer. I used the figures to make the footprints. I also decided to just go with two figures....long story.

Celluclay dried and painted. I snapped a couple of pictures outside. One with just the Aerosan and the other with the figures.

That's it for now. I've got to finish up the figures and do some touch-ups but this one is almost done. I'm going to give the figure in all-white a PPSh-41. I think it's a fitting easter egg for this campaign. My next update should wrap this one up.

Here's my progress:

Despite the bad photo skills, you can easily see the difference between the hull ( Dark Yellow base coat ) and the turret (w/ camo , filters and pin wash, also added some chipping )

Hi there,
I'm afraid to say that cannot judge anybodys work here
I am logged in at at work,and all I can see are little
red crosses . The reason is that my internet and telephone are down because the telecom decided to do some maintenance, that went wrong.
Well I trust you're all doing great stuff and please stick at it, even if the camapign leader doesen't sign in

Thanks all for the comments. I went ahead and finished up the figures. I added goggles, dispatch case, map, and PPSh-41. That last one was an added nod to the captured theme of this campaign.

The idea here is that the Aerosan has been pressed in to service as a dispatch vehicle. They are either lost or are planning out their travel plans. I had thought about putting a figure in the driver's space, like he's waiting for his gunner to receive/deliver their dispatch. Unfortunately, the added seat cushions made it so neither of the kit's figures would fit...even with gratuitous sanding.

And that'll do it. I enjoyed the campaign and building this kit. I'll probably go ahead and upload a couple of pictures in to the gallery.
