Okay guys, don't be too rough! The camera DOES reveal the mistakes, so I have some touching up to do.

I WILL touch it up as soon as my eyes return to normal. Looks like black and gray are the two most serious issues.

hi Jeff,

some update to do on your nice engine work.
-ignition coil is always semi gloss black
(they are olive drab when it is a replacmeent part)
-the head cylinder is the same colour as the engine bloc
(green forest/olive drab for willys and grey for ford)
-the distridutor should be semi gloss blach and the cover brown.
(it is a bakelite part)
-the carburator as a black color on his foot and it is aluminium(56 humbrol)
-the gas pump is also humbrol 56
-the air filter and the gas filter are on the engine dashboard.
-there is a mistake on the exhaust and intake paint.
(i will take a pictue asap to show you)

I hope that you will understand that it is only contructive words, not a critic at all.

Cheers Alex

Hi Alex,
that is some offer you´ve put there I think I can safely say thanks from everyone here. And maybe you´ll even regret it later when you have to answer 3 million questions
Well heres three for starters:

1. Do you have any info on the passengers 50 cal mount, on top of the dash and on the vehicle floor?

2. Do you have anything on the twin Vickers K gun mount on the back deck?

3. Any Info on the drivers Vickers K gun mount?

Hope I´m not over doing it

Umm, thanks but I was only following the color guide in the directions and not making them up as I went along. I was an ASE Certified Technician for over 20 years so I have good knowledge as to what's what. Actually, there were some American companies making the reddish color distributor caps.

Why don't you join us and make it official?

Hi Paul

no problem with 3 millions questions ; i will answer all that i can or found the answer.
I am not a weapon expert, because I'd rather get genuine mechanic parts to restore my jeeps.
But here is what i found

Well heres three for starters:

1. Do you have any info on the passengers 50 cal mount, on top of the dash and on the vehicle floor?

the cal 50 mount is call M48 mount.
it is bolt through the inner glove box, and bolted to the engine dashboard:
exploded view of the update military kit:
the front of the jeep is on the left side

2. Do you have anything on the twin Vickers K gun mount on the back deck?
no data at the moment

3. Any Info on the drivers Vickers K gun mount?
no data at the moment

Hope I´m not over doing it

Paul, i never do offer in the wind, fell free to ask.

Hi Jeff;

I would joined you but I have not so much time for 1/35 at the moment.
To much work to do in the appartement and on the 1/1 jeep, althougt the 1/35 bee never let me alone.
Got some diorama idea, but not really times to realised them.

(what a ASE technician is?)

cheers Alexander

Hi Alex,
Those are nice pics of a 30 cal mount. As far as I know
the 50 cal was somehow bolted to the top of the dashboard and the footwell too. This was done to take the recoil of this big mother of a gun.
I´ll try and do a sketch drawing of what I mean and get it on here soon.

Oh, so you have time to hang out and post comments but not to build? There is a place for that here http://armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewforum&forum_id=30&page=1 called Constructive Feedback.

Campaigns are a group effort with little or no pressure where we share our builds. I'd appreciate it if you would join our effort here with a build because we want to return the favor to you.

Next we need to teach you how to quote as well.

Hi

I didn't want to offend any on this post.
My purpose was really to share my pictures of a real jeep, didn't want to teach any to anyone.
I am not one of these boring guys, who have an opinion on every things but have never put the hands in the grease and old mechanic, or even open a 1/35 kit box and built a kit.

I am quite sorry if any felt offended, my english is very basic and does not allow nuancy or understand joke or play of words.

Once again apologises
My offer is still here.
The fact is that i am a jeep addict guy, and see the work of other people on 1/35; at the same time that I haven't it to build a kit, is always a pleasure

cheers

I bought my kit-- the Italeri one with trailer. A while before I get he old workbench cleared though. Some time to plan and prepare.
I'm looking forward to getting going in your campaign, Jeff!

Alex, thank you, thank you, thank you for the awesome photos! Most especially for the photos of the M48 dash mount. Those are the best photos I have seen of this particular mount and they answer a few questions that I had. Also can't go wrong with the restored Jeep photos, very valuable as I'll be hitting the engine painting stage soon. (Building the same Hasegawa 1/24 as Jeff but my chassis/engine is still in primer).

BTW, Hi Jordi! Just received three of your sets in the mail (1/35 sets including the M48 dash mount). I have to say the Minor sets are INCREDIBLE! The amount of work and detail in these things are amazing and they appear to build like the real thing. Also Jordi includes a wiring diagram for the radio sets that will help you wire and detail the finished pieces for added realism. These pieces are awesome Jordi, you should be proud!

Will upload the photos of the kit/box and accessory pieces used as soon as I make a final decision on what Jeep to build. No boxes for the accessories though as I haven't designed them yet!

Thanks Jordi. Between your photoetch set and the photos that Alex provided I now know exactly how to build one. This is one of those pieces that would be easy to make wrong if you don't have these types of examples.

I like the .30cal mounted on this more than the .50cal in Alex's photos. And I've seen this mount used in several photos with the old style "heavy" gun cradle. That's what I think I'll use on this one. Plus by using the .30cal I can use the Aber barrel set that I got from our own Piter over at his Panzer Hobby Art site. I've been wanting to put it to good use since I got it awhile back.

Starting the surgery to remove the Hasegawa reflectors off of the jeep body today. These appear to be quite a bit oversized (perhaps post war?) and will be replaced with LSA units. Not sure if the Hasegawa units are incorrect but they certainly look different than any of the jeeps that I have seen. Maybe Alex has a size measurement for this?

This will be the first actual model I've built in ages. Now I am remembering how much fun our hobby can be!

Wow, that's pretty detailed looking PE Jordi.

My Academy M151A1 OOB has the engine complete. Not as realistic as Jeff's but I'm not execting mine to run when I turn the key. It's all about to get hidden away now anyhow.

Oh, it looks fine Sean.

The only reason I went as far with mine is that I have never done an engine lately, and the color guide was right there. Sure, if it said to paint the distributor cap purple or the coil pink I wouldn't have followed it. But I am not going to take advice from a restored photo library, where the restorer pretty much is in the drivers seat as to what you see and not original photos of the JEEP after it was manufactured.

I wish only entrants would leave comments and not a few trolls stopping by that are not even building a JEEP with us. This is not a modeling contest but a group effort to just have some fun. Some are very good at what they do and for a few of us just do it to keep busy.

Thanks for everyone joining in to have fun!
