Is this kit acceptable for the campaign?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom... have you read this?: http://armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=635

And, have you read the whole thread yet?

You will see your answer in both as the Campaign Leader IS building the same kit too.

Come on and join us!

Welcome Tom! Awesome choice. Looking forward to seeing your build. (There are a couple of 1/24 jeeps being built already.) Check out the whole thread to find some really good references and maybe pick up on an idea or two.

best of luck,
Jim

Well I've started on the easy bits, the hose reel and water tank gluing seems fine so far. Just so much red plastic I may go blind!! Be assured it will be painted once I undercoat it .

Inspired by interest in my build of the little JGSDF Jeep - and the very cool builds on this Campaign - I have signed up.

I will be building - Trumpeter UAZ 469

I will get my qualifying picture up soon. But I was really pleased when they announced this one ! I spent over 5 years in Russian and FSU and this is a common vehicle you see every day.

I once bought the military wheels kit from St Petersburg - it had a lifespan of about 30 minutes before it got hurled into litter bin !

best

Paul A, great choice on the kit. The Hasegawa Willys has some detail advantages over the Italeri Jeeps but in the long run I still like the old Italeris. They go together fine and end up making an impressive model mainly due to their size. The Fire Jeep version is such an interesting vehicle to begin with and the model has so much more to it that it almost has to be cool when it's done!

best of luck,
Jim

Just a few bits so far. The hose reel nearly done, ladders ready for u/c tyres assembled and cleaned up. Hoses assembled.

Started on the engine late, late last night will take some pics of it once I've assembled and undercoated it.

I don't know if it'll be released in time for this campaign but Dragon are to release a 1/35 SAS 1/4 Ton 4x4 Patrol Commander's Car

It comes with two figures and corrects most if not all of the mistakes of the cyberhobby desert raider jeep

Hi;

since I enlisted I purchase several jeep kit from Tamiya, dragon and Bronco.
But nothing is really arrived excepted some photo etched from minor and a front axle from resi cast.

so I have been working on a portable work bench to group tools and paints.
It is a 60 long *40 large *20 deep cm box , that offer a great opening door in the bottom parts.
The upper white part is the light support with a light deflector to avoid to get light directly in the eyes.
The left side is dedicated to the paint and knife storage, whereas the right part is for the brushes and pliers storage.
A small piece will allow to keep the drying parts safe.

Hope to get the ordered kit soon to be able to start the campaign.

Alexandre that is one cool workbench. I'm afraid that mine will never be that organized! Paul B, looks great so far, it should be an awesome vehicle once it's done. Your scratchbuilding is fantastic.

Howdy Y'all |:-)
A couple of update photos. First I tried the new Vallejo Surface Primer in RAL 8000 'German Green Brown' and then Vallejo Model Air 'Dark Yellow'.' Finally I highlighted with my own mix of Portland Stone using Tamiya paints.
Y'all take care,
Don "Lakota"

@ Alex: nice mobile modeling box, my wife refuses to let me have one, she says "youīll take the damned thing on holiday".
Never thought of that

@James: thanks for compliments, they are well appreciated

@ Sean: I like your vietnam jeep espescially the ammo belt
for M60, nice to see some formed plastic instead of the flat etch.

@ Don: can you tell us the ratios of paint, I like that Portland stone and want to have it too.

Well hereīs todays progress:
Jerry can holders

the straps will be added later, I donīt wont to lose them. This thing is getting hard to handel now, hope I donīt break anything

Howdy Y'all
This is such a cool campaign, I enjoy following everyone.
@Paul-A modeler named Mike Starmer came up with 6 parts White XF2, 1 part Yellow XF3, 1 part Buff XF57. I use more white in my mix, I don't know: say 8-9 parts white? Thanks for the question.

Okay I've made a start on the Italeri Jeep
jeep

For some reason it comes with an open grill and is meant to be an US Jeep in 1945. Is this a mistake - a hangover from their SAS Commando Car maybe?

Anyway it's a really nice kit to build and apart from the grill no problems so far.

@ Jeff: cheers mate, you know by now that I like to scratch build anything so I canīt let the side down by doing nothing can I.

@ Sal: nice one, now get loads of dust on it and maybe change the color of the straps. All those I have seen to now are a canvas color. But thatīs only my 2 cents going
of again.

@ Don: thanks a lot, Iīll try that but with enamels. And
if it goes wrong i know who to blame

@ Pat: nice start, heres a tip if you want to sort the grill out. Just use 0.3 mm plastic card cut ito 0.5 mm strips and add to missing part with 0.3 side showing forward.

Well I think Iīve done with building side, down to the paint shop:

I donīt no about the sand channels yet , I might remake them, as this first set is a tad rough
cheers people
Paul
