Just because I didn't post a picture of the grab handles set before, what do you guys think of it?
I'll get some detail screen grabs of it later.
I also started work on another simple project: plastic jersey barriers in this style:
Got some inspiration from seeing them outside of the college I attend. These shouldn't take too long. A day at most.

I've also started looking around for a Bronco M1 or M2 Bailey kit to use as physical reference when doing the work for the Bailey design model.

Too small to be printed. If you want larger scale I'm sure they could be done. But not in 1/35.

Here is the VIC-3 set sprayed in a dark green. The details are really nice and will show well with detail painting. I really like this set and can't wait for the VIC-1/2 set and speaker set. Great job on them. I recommend them to anyone who wants to add some details to their modern kits.

Wow. They came out better than I expected. I was worried that the wings on the knobs wouldn't print correctly.
As of right now, though, I have to put all the projects on a slight hold. I'm being bogged down with school work which is more important than working on 3D projects, or so I'm told. But that doesn't stop me from planning projects.

Michael, are you still planning on adding the speakers to the AN/VIC-3 set? I want to order a set but want to wait until the set is complete.

Oh, Gino, I just want to point out that the side you have pictured are the Uh... "Specialized" versions. I'm not sure what other word to use. Mostly units with data and telephone connections. On the opposite side are the "basic" units without data or telephone connections.

Good to know. I thought both sides were the same. Both sides look equally as good though. Like I said before, I can't wait for the VIC-1/2 set and the speakers set.

Only slight differences. The rear 2 units are different units on both sides, though. Other than that the differences are small. In the latest version of the model I did include embossed names identifying each system. I didn't upload it yet though.

Well I know some of you guys want me to finish off that radio set, I know. But I had some time today and I had just recently installed a new CAD program, PCT Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express, and I wanted to give it a whirl. So I started on a base for some 1/144 armor. So far this is where I got to:
I tried to add skirts to the sidewalk but I can't do it. Just not sure how. I also plan to design in cobblestones but I'm not sure how that would print (or affect the program as it would put a large load on the computer and the RAM...).

I also opened up another shop on a different website. I do not know how the materials compare but they
seem like the prices
may be a bit cheaper than Shapeways. I'm not sure as I haven't taken a long and comparative look yet. I also haven't uploaded anything to that shop yet. First thing I'll be doing is essentially copying all the designs on my Shapeways shop and uploading them into the second shop which is at i.materialise. Link for the shop is here.

Both shops will have the same models uploaded and you will only ever need to buy from one or the other to get a model. The two websites are two different entities that offer the same service.

An idea for something quite big actually: a modern cargo railcar!
Impossible to find anything to make a US Army diorama with vehicles climbing on a freight platform..

That would be very very expensive to buy from shapeways.. If you look on their ridicolous prices they have on small things|:( so i dont think you would buy it anyway as it would cost a fortune...

If you think shapeways' prices are ridiculous... heh... some websites are even more outrageous. Currently I have a set of M3 Stuart headlight brush guards up on shapeways for about $16. On another site the minimum is almost double that. Plus the resolution of their highest detail plastic is worse than what Shapeways offers.
And yes, to make a model of the rail car would be massively expensive. If you wanted the model in Extreme Detail the bed would need to split into two pieces to fit the print space. And it would be even more expensive. Over and above $100 as a base price that Shapeways determines. On top of that it would take A a long while to work out the entire model.

With Pro Art models closed there is no large set of 20 litre plastic fuel cans or 20 Litre plastic water cans.
Having a set with Scepter 20 x plastic fuel cans would be excellent. I'd get a few sets.

Real Model, Verlinden, Live-Resin and others also have modern water and fuel cans in resin as well. I would rather see something not available at other places..like the VIC 1/2 intercom parts.

Well I can do the cans but that wouldn't be for a bit. I still have the RAFT and Speakers to do for the VIC-3. I know, I know. It's been long enough.
But I'm still dealing with school work and I need to edit to base of the VIC-3 to make it more cost efficient then I'd like to start tackling the VIC-1/2 which will include radios and transceivers.
I also want to elaborate a bit by saying that to change the base to what I'm thinking of is going to take some work because of the way I designed the part. Unfortunately it won't be easy and could take a few hours.

Well in order to test how I can go about changing the base on the full version, I used a basic version of the AN/VIC-3 model with only half of the included items. I performed the actions I needed to on that model. It still took me many hours to do it, though. Which will take longer on the full model as there will be more steps involved. Plus on the full model there are still the RAFT and speakers to do, like I mentioned before.
