Matthew, great little model you have there with great tracks. They look realistic. Do they actually work?
Gary, very nice half track. The tracks might need a little more sag, but on the other hand I think the where steel tracks covered in rubber, so they might not sag that much.
Good job - it is a nice entry into the campaign.

Thank you very much for the comments Jesper. Those tracks are annoying to say the least. I'm looking forward to building the new Dragon halftrack eventually.

Hi all,
My entry will be the revell 250/3 Grief, which is a rebox from the original dragon kit.
It has been a real pain in the *** to build.
Photos will follow.

Hi Martin, I'll be anxiously awaiting those photos as I just picked this model up at a local show and will eventually have to tackle it. What specifically has been the problem so far? Fit?

Hi gary,
The main problem was the fit, the upper hull, lower hull and rear did fit at all (in my case) And I had to use a massive ammound of putty to fix it, but eventually it came out fine.
The tracks are nice though. But I wasn't able to fit them when I finished the kit, so I had to replace them with the tracks of a tamiya halftrack (and the other way around )
*Edit Here are some photos

Greetings All,
I have started my project for this campaign. I decided to go along with Tamiya's item No: 35144, which is the Sdkfz 7 with the Flak 37 mounted on top. I was planning to build this for "Achtung Jabo", but priorities changed somewhat when this campaign moved on
Anyway, here's the boxart for those who wonder what sort of vehicle I am talking about. Yes I know, there are at least two other participants building the same kit.
At a first glance, the kit looks tidy and proper. When you get down to building it however, it starts showing its age. The date stamp on the sprue reads "1972 Japan". Well, I think I should treat this kit with respect, it is 11 years older than me! Still, I would very much prefer that Dragon would look into producing some Sdkfz 7 series, after that throng of Sdkfz 250s and 251s.
Enough words said, this is as much as I could progress last night:
Yes, I know it doesn't look like anything, but this is what is on the table after 2 hours of dedication. I will keep on building tonight when I have some free time.
Respects to all

a couple of pics of WIP on my entry, final product should be the command vehicle of Jochen Piper during one of the battles for Kharkov, as mentioned in a previous posting.
sorry about the quality, my digi cam is naff.
So far it is built from the box, working on th interior at moment, radios are all built and awaiting painting, once this is done, I'll atempt to wire them up and add them once the interior has been painted and weathered.
One final question......Am I right in thinking that the interior of the vehicle would be panzer grey just like the exterior?? can't imagine it woulg be buff or white.

Martin, I'll second that, it did come out fine. It looks great. Unfortunately, I don't use putty and things when I build I sort of just build whatever is there and hope to take my time and fit it as well as I can... If the fit is way off, I'm in over my head...
Thanks for the photos...

Almost finished with mine. Tamiya's 251/9. Will probably add some additional gear to the inside to clutter it up a bit. Much like I need to do with my Wespe I flattened the front tires a bit to give the appearance of weight. The small scale chain came from the railroad section at the local hoby shop. Pastels and thinner used to make the mud which was blown on using an airbrush. Oil paints used for the streaking..(Might tone that down a bit after looking at it) Anyway, heres where its at currently. Thanks for looking, "Q"

Looks good, Matthew! I really like the effect with the mud - somebody has been driving a little wild on the Russian steppe.
A really nice result, Martin. Your work with the filler paid of as it looks good to me. A really nice entry

Jesper, Gary, Thanks for the kudos guys. It nice to be retired and have all the time in the world to work on these things. I could think of a lot worse things to do than sitting in my room, watching old movies, and working on plastic. Thanks again. "Q"

really nice halftrack. Love the camo scheme. The paint finish looks really thought out. Nice suttle shading and weathering.

2. weathering (oil washes, dry brushing, mig powders)

Pls comment, and thanks for looking!

Greetings all,
Finding some free time for modelling during the weekend, I was able to make more progress on my flak-halftrack...
The roof on the cabin is temporary, as I started to work on the inside. I painted the interior with Gunze's Dark Yellow from its Panzer Colors Set 2.
I decided to make at least one door open. So I had to cover up all the sink marks that were visible inside. Seeing it required an awful amount of sanding and putty work, I decided to take a short-cut and use my "artistic license". I covered the areas with sinkmaks with old plastic playing card, from an unused deck of cards. I took rough measurements and covered nearly everywhere, the sink marks were so many They don't show too much so I guess it wasn't a bad idea after all.
The closeup of the truck cabin shows yet more sink marks behind the dashboard. I was thinking that they would not be visible once the doors were in place... but I was wrong. So they received some plastic card covering too!
This is the flak 37 my beast is supposed to haul. After I took the picture I completed the assembly and painted it with dark yellow as well. The level of detail is not too bad, however again there are sink marks all over this one also. This time I had to commence to battle with my putty and sand paper. It was exhausting.
Today is a day off work, so once the paint settles a bit, I will hopefully start painting the interior before closing the top of the cab.
Hope everyone is enjoying their build as much as I do...

Here is a progress shot of my SdKfz 251 with PAK 37mm. Construction is progressing good. Only the tracks take very long time to cut from sprues, clean up and glue together. However, the result is very good.

With much regret I must withdraw from this campaign. My work has overtaken my time at the bench.
Good job to those that have finished and best wishes for those still working on your entries.
Danial, thanks for the campaign.
