Around the grounds
The grounds around Bovington tank museum are well worth taking the time to have a good look around in. There are three Centurions out there and plus further searching found another four in various configurations, there is also a Mk1 Churchill tank. Some searching will reveal a Sherman in deep cover ready to ambush the unwary, plus a host of turrets along the entry road to the car park. Unfortunately there are also some vehicles in a staging area used for storage and at the rear of the workshops that are not accessible; I hope that this situation changes soon. In the grounds you will find a memorial to all those who have lost their lives while serving with the Household Cavalry and the Royal Armoured Corps in Operations since World War 2. There is also the mould master for the bronze Royal Tank Regiment Memorial which is sited in Whitehall, London. The monument depicts the five man crew of a Comet tank. Yes you may have guessed it I am a Bovington tank museum fan as it satisfies the interests of my whole family in different ways, and if this feature covering just some of the vehicles available to view at different times and get up close to doesn’t make you want to see it for yourself nothing will. Please remember that the vehicles on display do vary from time to time with over 100 more vehicles not currently on display due to there never being enough display space, It is a good excuse to keep going back.Comments
An excellent tour Darren, well done. You really captured the atmosphere of the place.
I'm a Bovy fan too and go two or three times a year if I can.

Thank you both. It is registered as a charity and a visit there will be the best £11 for an adult £7 for a child you could ever spend.

Hi Darren,
Excellent stuff. Good to see this one go live. I like the new layout, the vehicles look much more accessable.
Look forward to the walkarounds
