Building the Dragon 25pdr w/ Trailer

Step 5 towed

This stage guides you through assembly of the 25pdr in towed configuration, but to show this accurately would require a lot of scratch work. Firstly the travel lock (A35) should be shown between the two sides of the carriage and is instead shown in position for a gun in action, although this is easily overcome using the pictures provided here. The storage position and articulation of the support arms is correct, but you will need replicate the hooks on the ground plate that attach to chains, which also need to be replicated and attached to the handles described in stage one (parts A38 &A39). As mentioned in Step 5 in action, it will also look better if you replace the moulded hand spikes and bracket with scratch built items and the etched brackets. The firing lock will need to be removed and some scratch work could be done to improve the look of the gun’s breech. One other area that has not been considered is that a gun on the move would have its optics removed and safely stored, and representing this accurately will really test a modeller’s abilities. The first photo here indicates the travel lock in position, followed by a photo showing the correct angle of the gun when the travel lock is in place.
