wow chas.. this is really good....also, something for next time, docks cast shadows on the water which makes it a dark greenish blue and transparent, not opaque light blue.

G'day and thanks for all the comments while I have been away.

Jim, I'll be working on some more rubble debris especially bottles and papers. Cheers mate.

Calvin and James, thanks for commenting. Feature you say... but these techniques have been done before, and better done by others.

JB, I'm thrilled to know you like the buoy.

Scott and Rob, I think you are both exactly right about the rubble. I must leave room and centre the attention on the car.

Rob, I'll give some more thought to the positioning of the lamp post. Maybe not move it but definitely add cracks and grass. Cheers.

Paul, Karol, Martyn, Andy and Erik thanks for your comments. Thankyou everyone for your sympathy for my family concerning the passing of my grandad.

Cheers for your comment Jan.

Progress... if you call it that. Nothing much done except adding another figure to the grey army. This bloke will be pushing the car into the water.

Something has stalled me (apart from school work). While cleaning my airbrush, unscrewing the nozzle, the threading broke away on he nozzle tip part, which is now stuck in the nozzle screw of the airbrush. In the process of disassembling and trying to remove the thread, I basically mangled the nozzle screw. There is nothing I can do but enter the market for a new airbrush (it will have to be a cheapy).

I'm really sorry about this overly long topic. I am a very slow modeller at the moment. I'm planning to get this project all wrapped up by the end of the year.

You don't need to appologize, there is no one waiting with a whip to speed you up
Here in Belgium we have a saying: Haast en spoed, zijn zelden goed
Wich means: Hurry and speed, are rarely good indeed (or something like that ), something like: Rome wasn't build in a day

It's becoming real nice, and for me, I like long threads, like this people can learn something... Much more than the topics where they show the contents of the box, and next, the finished work....What can one learn from those topics I wonder

Keep those updates coming Chas, I like them a lot

Grtz, from a fan ,

Chas,
First off, sorry to hear about your grandfather. WRT your dio, I think it is turning into one of the best dios I've seen in the 25+ years I've been at the insanity we all call a hobby; the fact you are les than half my age, makes me want to pack it in and find a new hobby. Now on to constructive comments, I think that the dock and new figure look outstanding, but as mentioned befor a bit neat. I think rather than debris per se, you might want ot add signs of life (i.e. discarded hand trucks, etc), this was afterall a working dock. As Scott said, though you may want to consider these after the placement of the automobile. Just my two cents American.

Beyong and Shaun, thanks! Just some basic modifications to stock standard DML poses. I used parts from both their Commonwealth and 8th Army kit. Cheers for your support.

Matthew, I'm flattered, but it's definitely not the best diorama. I find inspiration in the work of Martin Schuster, Vladimir Demchenko, JBA... and so many forum members here that share their work. Guy and Alexandre are two that have been flabbergasting me of late. Thankyou for your critique.

Martyn, I will let you know. Thanks!

I had to check the photo several times to determine it was a photo with a real person or your figure photo-shopped into it!!
Good job on the figure Chas........

Chas,
A great job all around...I've really enjoyed watching this come together!!
I know about airbrush problems... that is what derailed my dio for the halftrack campaign!

And when I saw the picture of that soldier you're converting I thought "why is Chas modelling a guy doing the "Robot???"
Then I saw the actual photo...you absolutely nailed the pose!!! Keep going man, it looks GOOD.

Bill.

I can recommend a Harder & Steenbeck airbrush (Grafo, Evolution or Infinity).

MIG has also released 2 new airbrush for 58 euros. Don't know they're quality, but maybe they're pretty good.

Chas,maybe I can help you.
Send me a photo of the broken part and the diameter of the nozzle to see if I can do something.I have 3 airbrushes in use and one similar precision with probably damaged inner body teflon passes and air doesn't let the paint flow.
If the nozzle tip or any other part are useful for you I will be glad to send them to you.

Charles, thanks my friend. It's cool to get your approval.

Thanks for your advice Erik. I got my airbrush from Ebay, from this guy: Airbrush

Haha, thank mate. You are right, it does look a bit robotic. I'm going to re-sculpt the hand so it doesn't look too rigid, like he's holding a beer.

Lars, thanks for your recommendation, but I'm on a budget. 60 euro is a lot of money... my limit is about $50 Aussie dollars.

Zisis, thanks for your very kind offer. I will send you some pictures of my damaged parts. If you could help it would save me a heap of cash. Thanks bro.
