Hi Chas,
I've been following your thread for quite some time now, but I had to comment when I saw your video, because that took a lot of work I'm sure. You've really got a knack for prototype modeling, and you make it look so easy!!
Anyway, keep those pictures and videos coming!!! Looking forward to the next installment

Mark, thanks for commenting. I really appreciate your encouragement! Prototype eh? Prototypes have a tendency to go horribly wrong...

G'day Youch!> I admire your skills mate! I wish I had some of the skills you have considering were almost the same age!. Ive subscribed to this I really admire what you've done with the Video's!. Only convern I have is crack on! Outstanding work Buddy and nice banner . Also having just watched your latest videos and your previous ones you sound nothing like donald duck when i watch it! Great accents What happened to your singing
Have you played with the pitch of your video i remember doing something last year at school using some movie maker thing where you could change the pitch and tempo of the speech. Also your voice may vary depending on how high you have your speakers. Ive noticed that when i have my laptop on loud and when it isn't as loud.
Great figure mate! looks intereastin! you could always carve either part of his bum or the pouch so it sits more snug on his bum/thigh
(P.s i look foward to chatting to you on IM)

Hi Chas,
it looks like you've got a fun little dio on the workbench there
Some suggestions ?
- you may want to throw in more rubble, more dirt. Parts of twisted metal and tubes always look good among rubble. Rust is a key word here. Broken glass
- I like the barnacles and texture you did at the waterline. Why not paint a bit more green (algae) and put mussles and barnacles on ? Same for the buoy.
- little stuff floating always makes water look more "real". Empty bottle, sigarette pack.
- that bird poo really adds reality to it. Good idea
I think I need to work only for a few more months in the house before all is finished. By Christmas, I want to get back to modeling. My modeling room is all prepared already, and my fingers start to feel a modeling itch. It's been 4 years now I look forward to reading your progress. I'll be back !

Looking good, Chas. I admire the fact that you are doing this to honor your grandfather. In today's society we rarely see parents and grandparents honored the way they should be.
I like your videos, however I would appreciate if you would give us a text summary as well, since I often don't have time to watch the whole video. You did the American accent perfectly! I laughed out loud when I heard that! At first I thought, "Great, another person making fun of us Americans," but you did it so well that I could only laugh!
I sent you a PM.

Hello Chas,
Your Sailor Figure video presentation is another hit IMHO. I find myself thinking that should the opportunity present itself to not be shy about attempting to modify a figure. Along with pointers you’ve given me on painting figures, though the journey has just begun, I’m starting to feel more at home in the area.
Thanks again for taking the time to put these video session together for us. By the way, loved your musical selection as a closer. Must get Annie to listen. She will be moved by it as I. Do you have a site were we may enjoy more of your musical talent?
Cheers,
Paddy / Paddo

Hi Chas,
Nice update, again
Someone gave a tip for the pouch, wich is a little stiff..
As he said, make it a little hollow inside, may do the trick..??
I can't help you with the camera problem..., maybe it would sound better if the camera (microphone) would be in front of you..???
But to me it doesn't matter, I get the idea of your tutorials with or without Donald Duck explaining
Keep it up.
Grtz,

G'day guys,
I would just like to give a little bit of an update on this project, and also a thanks to those who have commented.
Nothing much to show in terms of progress... I've assembled some more parts for the Wolseley and a bit more preparation for painting the figures. Hopefully some pictures this weekend.
Videos: I have been working with Ben van der Veer to fix the audio problem... so, he will be getting the model kit, thanks Ben! Thankyou to everyone who offered advice... I wish I could send you all a kit.
Jaymes, will find the time to get on IM soon. It's good to chat with you.
Martyn, Shane and Lewis - thanks for your feedback.
Jan, the famous tree making man! Wow, I haven't seen you active on the site for a long while! It is really great to get your comments on this diorama. I will take your suggestions on board. Best of luck with the house and it will be nice to see you back modelling soon.
Hey Samuel, thanks for your message and for your comment here. I will probably not take this video thing too seriously, as it's a very time consuming way of sharing my work. I'll probably make a few more vids when I have an interesting tutorial to share... or something. Otherwise, I'm going to continue sharing in the form of pictures/text for the time being... so don't worry!
G'day Paddo, I think you will find this figure I am sending you will be very useful in improving you figure painting. JBA has done a great job and it is very useful to have quality piece of work right there in front of you. My attempt to play "The Winner Takes It All" was not very good! It was a difficult piece and I am not accustomed to the style. I don't have any of my music online but I'd like to make a video perhaps one day... I'm glad though that you enjoyed the snippet.
Hi there Beyond, the pouch has got me stumped. I think I might try gently heat and bend it to conform to the hip of the sailor. I don't want to lose any detail though...
Charles, the man with the awesome name... and equally awesome dioramas. I also await your next work. Thanks for your comment mate!

Hi Chas,
I'm sure I won't be saying anything new, but I'll say it anyway. Your work is very impressive. I admire your talent and you are young (pardon the pun)! I'm sure it's only the proverbial tip of the iceberg that we're all seeing, talent-wise. I can't wait to see the final outcome of your diorama. Keep the updates coming!
Thanks very much!
-Joseph

G'day Joseph! Your comments, wow, really made my evening. Thanks bro.
Thanks milvehfan, I think with Ben's help I should have the audio problem fixed soon.
Shane, thankyou! Some more progress to share tonight actually...
Figures primed with Humbrol primer, which is very high quality. I highly recommend it.
I am very pleased with this so far, after spending 2.5 hours on it. I think it is the best face I have painted to date.
Anyway, here is something I learnt from JBA, the use of an old CD as a palette. I previously used an ice-cream container lid, and I noticed the paint would dry very quickly. I think it must have soaked into the plastic. Now, the paint lasts at least 5-10 minutes longer as this CD surface is not porous at all.

Hello Chas,
Thanks very much for the tips on the Humbrol Primer and JBA palette. Would you please give us your thinning ratio for the primer?
The face really looks outstanding to me and you did that in 2.5 hours. I will not estimate the time I have on Antoine’s face and hands. Poor chap just languishes under his jar waiting for his student to show up. Soon I tell him…………..

HI chas, fab work so far mate, one suggestion to your royal navy figure, is the head dress, it more like a R.A.F sidecap you are going for, i don't mean to put rain on your project as it is great, but a good navy style head dress can be found with a hornet head replacement kit, hope this helps, still its not a biggy
