Hello Guy ,
Well, i'm just back from near the Normandy and can confirm the extraordinary reproduction you created.
The grain in the wood is one thing i noted specially and , as Jean Bernard said already, is beautifully imitated by you.
You also did a great job joining the two houses. They are not yet joined, but i do not see any major problem here, a sign that you did work at correct angles.
I am not even talking about all the detais in there.
I have one idea for one of the next houses. Very often some fancy house name is written on faience (ceramics) over the front door.
Something like this or even bigger. I just found one such pic this early morning on the Net but there must be more.
This would be a nice feature to reproduce.
I took not to much pictures as i do not plan any Normandy house in the next future. I have a few, but have not yet installed the software for the new pocket camera. After i have checked my photos , i will see if i have a better pic for you.
Cheers
Claude

Guy Guy Guy!!! I cannot believe I have just found this thread my friend!
Too often I seem to overlook the threads that have many pages of responses as maybe I haven't enough time to view things from start to finish... This time I will stop by every time mate. I haven't anything clever to say that hasn't already been said here, but every phto is packed with insiration! I am having enough trouble finishing kits, and then there's sculpting figures, and now buildings!?! Where will I find the time? Or the $ to pay for the guinness to pay you to build them for me
Great stuff
Brad

Bradley, no problem my friend. There's so much to see here on Armorama, I know how it feels to discover interesting threads months after their start !!!
I have changed some things and I have some detail shots of the house.
The yellow of the first floor was overpainted with an aged white/grey.
Woodwork was made older by giving it a silvery look, typical for these very old houses in Normandy region.
The ornamental decoration is done now :
The lower window was painted white and washed :
The concrete stairs are not finished but this is how it looks now :
An overall view of the project :
I've still a lot to do, I hope you stay hooked up friends.

Here's proof I am not leaving now Guy
The last photo set looks tremendous mate. You have given it a perfect finish, and the aged timber is exacting.
Not sure what you have in mind but I would treat the side of the concrete steps to make them appear more stained with weather and lime scale and accumulated dirt etc. as opposed to the tops of the stairs which would be worn and lighter. I basically mean to make the sides appear slightly darker perhaps? Any water that doesn't run down the fronts of the steps would stain the sides maybe...
Great stuff

Bradley, you've taken the words right out of my mouth, friend. This is exactly what I have in mind to finish the stairs. I hope to make photos of the next steps soon.
Thanks for your comment, it's good to have people around me who confirm the ideas that I have in mind, now I can be sure about them.

The windows are finished, the curtains are glued in place, simple, nothing special.
I still have to pick up the pigments to make it look more realistic.

Excellent Guy!
The curtains add a really nice tone to the house.
I've maybe missed something, but, won't you do a roof for this stunning piece?
Still as good to watch your progress!
Good luck.
We're all waiting for the next step!

Holy Mary, Holy Sh....!
Upsss, sorry, but i thought that. Nice idea Guy !
But shouldn't there be a sort of backwall. Mostly those figures stands in a niche , not in the opening.
But it is not important, just an idea.
Well done
Claude

Thank's Claude, it is a niche indeed, so there's a backwall in it. It must be the flash of the camera ?

Hi Guy. I haven“t seen this thread for a while ... I think it was February I posted last, after the cork gate was shown first. There have been a few developments since!!
The gate and houses look excellent .. you really captured the textures and look of the buildings, and all the little extra details really lift it over the top. Keep going .. this is real eye candy!!

Guy,
I'm really glad to see you picked up on this. You're a pro, buddy. This is old school diorama scratchbuilding of rare quality. Keep going !
PS : where do you get that thin cork ?
Jan (Mortsel, Belgium)
PS : hoe is het verder verlopen met je vriend na zijn ongeval in het voorjaar ?

Damn, Guy. You make my fingers itch to start modeling again. I suspect that may be quite soon
Or at least : when life at the airport gets a bit more quiet after failed x-mas terrorist attempt, snow, guy crawling over airport fence, more snow... something to keep me busy every single day for a whole month already !
