Very good quality figure painting there.
How many figures are you planning to include?

Well, James, there are things in need to be focused on here.
Do you ever care of atmosphere in your builds? I mean, feelings, perceptions?
That's what I focus first.
When your eyes see something, your perception of it will be influenced by your mood, by the temperature, luminosity.
The matter here is'nt to depict an holiday diorama.
Diorama making is all about. When you deal with concepts as abandonment, dereliction, empty feelings, then your palette will turn white grey. Then the colors will appears used, washed.
There's no way to turn it on a postcard style, cause that's not my feeling with Merkur.
Desaturate the color range is a way among other to display some thought.
Cause I don't live in a world where the earth is brown, the grass is green and the water is blue.
The very only dogmas in diorama making I think are atmosphere and composition. No more.
Nothing that tells : "for a good diorama, be sure you do the same as in your coloring book, be sure that your grass is green."
BTW, thanks for your opinion about it, I just wanted to share mine. I hope i'll still get your thoughts.
Alexandre
Alexandre,
I care a lot about the atmosphere of my builds, and spend a great deal of time on the planning and layout of any diorama. I also spend the same amount of time thinking about realism, and try and get any scene to be as accurate as is feasible.
Being a geologist, soils and rocks are an area I understand and so are one aspect I like to get correct when I build, something I was trying to help you out with here. I was certailnly never suggesting it should look like some holiday snap or colouring book, I simply commented that perhaps the soil colour was a little light having had the pleasure of visiting the country.
Of course if that is the feeling you want to go for in your diorama, then I am in no position to dictate otherwise. You have a great modelling ability and obviously have a vision of what you are trying to acheive, more power to you.

woah, those are the glamour pictures! the dio looks pretty handsome this way. I wonder how the little green man fits with the rest colour wise, and I also wonder what you will put at the mittel of the scene, but *such* great work for the moment, keep on!

Alexandre,
I didn't come to Armorama in ages, and it's great to see such great new talent. I'm much impressed with your work. That's some good oldfashioned hard-core dioramabuilding.
I'm curious to see this develop further. Respect
Jan
PS : when I saw the very first picture, showing your workbench, I thought "aaaah... this will be good !"

Hi Alexandre
In fact there IS something I'd like to share with you. This may inspire your for the painting of your door and wall. I especially refer to the bottom part of the door and wall in the picture. I saw this in Estonia and took the picture as a reference for my diorama painting. I hope it can be of help.

My warmest congratulations Mr Alexandre D.
Your diorama is actually a master of such a motion. Has caused me a great achievement of realism achieved in the textures of the house.
But I think the left corner of the house, the stones must be so locked. So that the construction has become between the walls. However .... receive again my sincere congratulations on so appetizing diorama. Thank you. ........ Jorge.

The same thing you think of a nonsense or a far-fetched idea, but ...
is somewhat surprising a newspaper lying on the ground in a rural area, if a city would not be strange, but in the field?
before you throw another use has been given
I will exchange for anything you have and that "fit" in a rural area
On the other hand, congratulate him on the choice of figure
saludos

More! More!! We want more!!!
Dio's looking great Alex, you're doing a marvellous job.
One thing though that I feel I must comment on (and it's actually a bit off-topic) is the clarity and composition of your photos - they're simply excellent. Are you retouching them electronically? (Not meant as a criticism but as a compliment )

Hello gentlemen.
Well, this topic isn't updated for one month now.
Before explaining some of the reasons, I have to answer for all your great, kind, and usefull comments here.
>Matthew, thanks mate, yes, I'll keep him bald, cause I've got a cool pic that show a small platoon of FJ, all balds. cool looking isn' it?
>Martyn, always here, thanks for following mate.
>Guy, my friend, I'm pretty happy with this figure, I hope it will pass the 'time' exam.
>Shaun, thanks for the kind words. I'm still not sure about the rest of the KG.
>Jan, thanks for the 'goold old hard-core' ..and thanks for the usefull link.
>Zokissima, I'm flattered that it worths "several hours" of watching, and really happy to hav someonenew on board.
>Shane and Jorge, thanks for the comments, Jorge, I'm aware of this matter, and it will be hiden (I hope) by a gutter.
>Domi, thanks again, cause I'm a great fan of your work on the pub, and I have to say you're right n the newspaper.. However, Crete News was dedicated to the soldiers of the Creforce, so maybe it could be found in a rural area, brought by one of them?
>Rudi, thanks for dig out this thread mate...That's what I needed to keep on working on it... Thanks for the words about the pics, I try to do them as better as I can considering my poor camera...
No "digital" treatment as you mean, just "erasing" the border of the black cardboard when it is visible.
I've recently lost a bit of my modelling mojo, considering that I can't see an "happy end" for both of my current project (alps and Crete). I've ideas, that I can't deal with, cause I must finish the dioramas I've begun. The matter is that i'm a bit tired of both.
I would particulary thanks Guy and JBA, who managed to motivate me.
New pics are coming today.
Thanks for looking.
Alexandre.

Hello gents,
Thanks Guy, but there are lot of people who weather the wood better than me!
I bring you some new pics :
The left part is the FJ figure that is on the bench now...I've done a new belt with Andreasculpt and added DML arms. The base is by Verlinden. I've got many of this very figure, cause they're are great for conversion, with simple body and easy-to-modify pose.
The pole that you can see below the trousers are the early structure of the legs and feet sculpt.
The right part is the table that I've made this afternoon.
Still don't know if I'm gonna put it on the dio, so please let me know.
Cheers gentlemen,
have a great week.
Alexandre.
