do you know the call sign of 114

114 is the Callsign... The name of that tank is RIMFAKSE, Natts horse who dragged the chariot with the moon over the sky, also from Norse mythology.

I don't remember the vehicle registration number from the top of my head, but a phonecall should sort that out.

And don't worry about the bustle rack, it is correct. Only the upgraded Leopards got the new rack and they arrived well after you started your build.

Hi Erik, your posting sounds very interesting to me.
You spoke about an upgraded Leopard 2 with a new bustle rack. You may remember me being one of the real Leo-fans, so I immediately googled, but was unable to find any photo of such vehicle.
Do you have photos? If yes, please please just put one into this forum.
That would really be great!
Hi Chris, as told (already very often), your Leo is a great build! What about his Finnish brother?

Cheers / Stephan

Don't know why but the A4 looks much better to me than the newer A5 or A6.
Anyway superb job on this tank. The wheels are very nice!
Green always brings the best in a tank.

Hi Stephen

The Finnish Leo is on hold while I do some painting.

I did a little more checking in on the Telemark Leos, the heavy skirts are available for use in a combat situation right?

I'm interested in seeing pictures of the new racks as well.

Sure... Sorry for the bad quality. I was in a hurry and my camera had the wrong settings. Don't ask me what the upgrades are. I don't know...

Covers on the bustle racks. I might add those. The reverse camera would have been a nice addition but Its to late for that.

Hi Erik, thanks for sharing the photos. It seems there is another distinction, not only the rear camera: the left hand side ot the turret bustle rack seems to be deleted. Compare the older photos with the later ones. The older Leos have the three part bustle which Chris built.
The left part is obviously not fitted to your late Leo.
Do you have more pics of the left hand turret rear?

Best regards
Stephan

Sorry but no. I mostly work with simulators now so it is not every day I see the real deal anymore.

Hi Erik, the license plate seems to be an embossed sheet-metal.
Do you know if such license plates are available as etch part?
Think this is the only way to depict these plates.
Best regards

I make mine from a piece of a beer can and use numbers shaved off from a piece of sprue. Works ok for me.

Hey I wanted to let everyone know you can now get the Perfect Scale kits I'm using for these builds in North America now. They are available at www.TrackJam.com. Have a look, the prices are better then direct from PSM.

Hi Chris,

Your airbrushing technique is quite unique and interesting to me: Several different tones of green with clean boundary, not gradation. It looks great. I would like to apply the skill to my leo2s in the mean time.

I will look forward to seeing your next posting.

Cheers,
Seung-il

Hi Nam

Its called color modulation. When you go the weathering stages the contrast make the details pop.
There is a good video on youtube check that out if you would like to learn how to do it. There is a good article on this site explaining how to do it also. Its easy to do.

I'm working on the hull weathering and its coming alone. I've been using oils in layers.

Wow !!

That's great work with the oils Chris, it is really coming along nicely.

I'm also going to try more color modulation on my next T-72.

Explain the colors and techniques you used with the oils please

Cheers

Paul I mixed a little pigment from mig in with the paint and did large areas then I darkened the paint and did the inside edges in the dark tones. You want to try layering pigments, humbrols and oils to get varying textures and tones. Gray oil is important to get the Euro dust look right.

I hope this helps. Good luck with the CM.

Paul you want to use the full range of oils from Wand N to get the varying colors. Also I use Migs Russian Earth pigment to get a dark tone.
