Nice job so far Chris !
But this is the easy one, how about something more " splinterd or Finnish " the next time ?
Are you happy with the "colour modulation" aspect of your model?
I know that photographs can be misleading, but to me the darker shades of green on the lower turret seem a little to dominant, like dividing the area into two halves. I have to admit that, personally I am not a great fan of heavy washes and shades or all these new kind of "modulation technics" being promoted at the time being. It may work better for WW2 than for modern vehicles, but then again it‘s all in the eye of the viewer.
This no criticism of any kind since you always do a great job, I am just curious if the photos may reflect an impression not seen on the real model.
Anyway you still have me impressed of the fantastic work you put into this model of a , let call it "not up to date ", kit !

Cheers
Christopher

Thanks Christopher
I'm not sure about this one being the easy one I think plan green is hard to make interesting. The Finnish Splinter pattern is going to be tough.

The CM turned out, let say OK your right about the darker tone of the sides. The pictures are spot on, what you see is what it looks like.
I think this model is a right balance of all the current popular paint styles.

I was just looking at these since you directed me to your album.

THis came out highly realistic. I'm really loving your finishing techniques, especially the dusting around the side skirts.

Truly fantastic Chris, everything about this model is just awesome. Definitely ranks as one of the best Leopard models out there.

I really cannot wait to see your next work!

Did you cut out that anti-slip? Looks to clean to be painted on.

I'm going to take that as a compliment Paul, thanks. It is painted on with rustoleum. I've never seen it cut out. Do you have any examples of that method?
Yeah I think it has the aperance of a clean look because of the color contrast.

Lot of work there Chris.....sure you want to paint it!

What product is the non-skid?

Ryan

**edit** Just re-read the posts, and saw you used Rustoleum for the NS.
Great product, I used it on the TUSK build.

Yes, the hours of masking were worth it as soon as I pulled the tape.....but ugh until that moment I wondered what was I doing!

It's compliment either way. If my memory is correct I have seen a M113 TUA build where the anti slip on the bins and loader hatch was cut out very thin sandpaper. Testors make very thin sandpaper with a plastic backing which could be used for this.

Who makes the diamond screen that you used? The whole tank looks fantastic.

The screen is from Eduard's original Leopard etch set.

Paul,

if you measure the relation of width and length of the diamond screen you find out it is 1:2.
I have calculated (errechnet) according to pictures where measures were given that best adequate etched part scale 1:35 is from Aber S08 .

This mesh is also found as bottom of the turret basket.

Hi Chris,

The job on your finnish Leo is gorgeous !

I am interested in building one too, from the HB kit just as yours.

Any idea if all of'em Finland leos got the same layout (boxes...) as yours ? Have these changes been extended to all the finn leo fleet or only to a few tanks ?

I look forward to your next up. Congrats, it is awesome so far !

Regards,

Richard

Hi Richard

This Leo is post 2006 the pre -2006 where much like a German 2A4,no boxes added. So the HB kit is fine. All current Fin Leos have the add-ons.
The boxes were not to hard to model if you want to give it a try there is a site with good ref pictures. Best thing to do is goggle Finnish Leopard (I forget the site address)
This model and the 2A4NO will be in a up coming issue of Military Modelcraft int.
