Hi Guys,

Some updates: weapons and kit added.

These are the first 2 Indian Troops I've tried, so comments appreciated. The Spearhead bodies would lend themselves to additional conversions quite easily and I do have 2 more Indian heads!!!

They look good, Alan.
I am not an "Indian-expert", but the tone of skins seems a bit red. I always thought that those chaps were more on the black side?

Btw, why is the one with the bayonet wearing his corporalchevrons on the bottom of his sleeves?

Hi Ron,

There is a great range of skin tone in India, depending upon which tribe/clan or ethnic group. It ranges from almost fair skin to very dark brown. The redishness I though was appropriate for the desert, even dark skin burns.

The chevrons on the soldier are Long Service and Good Conduct Stripes that depict an Old Soldier with a few years service in. I'm not 100% sure when they were introduced but I seem to recall having seen them in a few pics from WW1 onwards.

Cheers

Al

The light improved slightly so I snapped this one: Also noticed a small seem on the back of the legs so have fixed that plus I just spotted I missed the greatcoat buttons!!!!!

with buttons and changing light!!!

Hi guys,

I confess I did the wounded soldier slightly before the start line too Well at the same time as the Indian Soldiers!!

This is the Spearhead Minitures Wounded soldier. I built him stratight OOB and finished him as a wounded Grenadier Guard. Base coat was Tamiya XF 52 for the reasons started above. For the Uniform I used Vallejo English Uniform 70921 and for the webbing Tamiya XF 75 Buff. I used life colours facial paints for the face and Tamiya Dark Green XF61 for the Helmmet and XF58 Olive Green for the camo scarf. A little XF 7 for Blood on the wound. and XF 1 Black for his ammo boots.

I used Mig filters to darken the buff webbing and burnt umber from my gunk pot to add contrast to specific areas of the uniform. A little MIG dust on his boots and uniform to finish him off.

The base is a generic one from the Velinden Para's at Arnhem set I I use for quick photo background of my figures, so you see a lot of folks on this street corner!!!.

So in pennance I'll do this chap plus a couple of paras for the campaign

Don't you just love figures?

That's alright, Alan.

Could you please add an SBS with the next figures, so the rest of us know what you did, why and how?

Nice figure and base by the way! Looks convincing.

Hi,
I have just enlisted to the campaign but I have a question: can I participate with a half-painted figure or to be more specific with a figure painted only in the basic colour?

Hello Michal,
You can enter with as many figures as you like, but you have to do 2 complete figures from the start, or 4 half figures.....
It depend a bit what you mean by "basic paint"...
Can you show us?

Morning Guys,

Well here we are day 1 of the new campaign (I hope!!). Time to crack on with some troops. Any of you who have been following the Operation Market gaden Campaign will have spotted that I have been building a lot of Paras lately. These chaps are for use across a couple of planned dios and when done will bring me one step closer.

Paint wise for the Paratroopers |'ll be using Tamiya XF 52 for the primer for the legs and Vallejo 70920 English Uniform for the Final Trouser Colour.

For the smocks I'll be using XF 49 for the primer with XF Red Brown, XF 58 Olive Green and XF 60 dark yellow for the camo.

For webbing I'll be using XF 57 Buff with XF 1 matt black for the boots and either XF 58 Olive Green or XF 61 Dark Green as the base for the helmets.

For the faces I'll be using the Life Colour Set of Facial Paints and I'll also be using some Mig Filters to help blend thing in.

OK so on to the troops, I'll be using these 4 figure kits.

I started work on these guys this morning some have some of the initial primer done

Firstly a Para trooper lying firing a sten gun.

I reviewed this guy here:

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4646

Next the 2inch Mortar team

Reviewed here:

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4667

to those 3 I'll be adding these two

Battle Weary Para

and a Airborne Officer at ease. This chap is depicted smoking a pipe, but I will alter him to be holding a radio mike and switch out the kit head for on in a beret with headphones as that suits my purpose better..

The first 4 figures are unusual in so much as they have none or only partial webbing, making them more in the defenders rather than attackers and again this suits my final purpose.

the 5th figure is also a bit unusual in that the officer is shown wearing Body Armour.

All the figures should be fairly simple builds and one of the nice things about resin figures is that you can get pretty much on with the painting process with out too much delay.

Right that's my intro for the first batch so time to crack on and get a bit more done.

All thoughts and comments welcome, I am hoping to pick up a lot of tips and ideas from the Campaign.

Have fun guys and Happy New Year to you all.

If you mean those 2 Indians and the wounded infantryman, sorry, but no.
You did those befor the startingdate.

But knowing you, you will have en entire company ready by the enddate...

Happy New Year, Everyone.
I have officially signed up for this Campaign.
I'm not sure exactly what figures or era I'll be doing for it.

Knowing me, and my short attention span...... these subjects may change as often as the weather.

Howdy Y'all ,

I didn't get one model completed last year but I'm in.
I'll probably do some Dragon Gen 2 German figures or Eduard 1/48 Japanese air crewmen.

This mornings update.

Finished adding the arms and gave the heads a second coats of 1st shadow.

Hope to get the heads finished today. Also started on this chap:

He is one of the Ultracast tankers, just has a base coat as above but a very neat figure.

I reviewed him here:

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4645

He should fit in well with these chaps, also Ultracast figures which I'm planning on using with my Loyd Carrier TS&C when I get to it.

Cheers

Hey all, heres my first update!

Been painting these with oils and I like the results. One question though.....How do you get oils to dry faster???? I really need to find a way....and Im sure one of you have one!lol

Ok time for pictures-
This first figure needs his head repainted and trousers too. His shirt needs a few more highlights/shadows.

back image- gear needs painted and straps and belt.

This guy needs complete painting.....

The guy on the left is completely done(not part of campaign), but I just wanted people to see it. Guy on right still needs details done and his MG. I painted his arms today so they arent dry yet.

Back image-

......alright thats it for now! Hope to see others progress starting up.

Johnathon
