I would love to join this campaign! I have a MiG-15 next in line, but I could always wait until January to start it. This is my first campaign though, so how do I sign up for it?

That really cleared some things up for me, thanks! One more question for you, Steve. How difficult is it to start a campaign? I had an idea for one but I don't know if I would be able to get it off the ground considering my (extreme) lack of experience on the forums.

We have a thread for that as well. :-)
It's called "For Campaign Leaders".

A Mig-15 would be great, very iconic

I think that makes two jets so far for this campaign.

I guess I'm the other A/C guy. MPC/Airfix 1/72 F2H-2 Banshee.

Is there a list of enlistees and their planned projects?

I think you are the only other person who has mentioned an aircraft kit as their intended build for the campaign.

As far as a list goes, I don't recall ever seeing one in this thread. It would be nice to know what everyone else is building. I know I saw a Walker Bulldog somewhere in there, M24's (but not sure if anyone actually mentioned they would be building one), and a Sherman flamethrower. As for myself, I am going to be building the Hobby Boss 1/48 M4A3E8

Hey all!

Sorry, I was absent during the week, military duties. That will be ongoing for the next 3 weeks so bear with me...

Robby, welcome to the campaign and I see your questions are all answered thanks to Gary. Looking forward to that MiG and if you have any questions just post 'em here!

Mark and Jeremy, I was planning to do a list of participants and projects. That was pretty good in the Matchbox Nostalgia Campaign. I will get to work on that in September, after all my military is past for this year.

Anyone doing British Armor for this Campaign? Centurion Mk. III for example?

Cheers, and keep the enlistments and stories coming!

If they make a good one in 1/48, I'll build it alongside my 1/48 M4A3E8

Well, to my knowledge there is no Centurion in 1/48 scale, not even in resin... You could do a Cromwell though?

About 35 years ago there was a 1:48th Cent from Aurora, but even if you could find one I doubt it would count as "good"...

Here's the September installment of the History of the Korean War:

September 1950
1st week of September – During the first week of September, the North Korean attacks on the Pusan Perimeter continue with the aim of taking Pusan and thereby cutting off UN troops from their supplies. The most significant attack occurs on the Naktong river line in the southwest of the perimeter where the NKPA 6th, 7th and 9th Divisions are beaten back by the 2nd and 25th US Infantry Divisions after a week of heavy fighting.
15 Septembter 1950 – An amphibious landing at Inchon on the west coast of Korea, close to Seoul, catches the NKPA by surprise.
16 September 1950 – An NKPA armored counter attack is beaten back by naval air forces and Marine M26 Pershings. This opens the road to Inchon and threatens Seoul. The NKPA is forced to withdraw its troops from the Pusan Perimeter to reinforce Seoul.
The Breakout from the Pusan Perimeter begins.
16 September 1950 – The 2nd Infantry Division is the first UN unit to cross the Naktong river.
22 September 1950 – Marines enter Seoul and bitter fighting begins for the meanwhile fortified city.
25 September 1950 – Seoul is declared liberated even though fighting continues.
By the end of September 1950 no more organized NKPA units remain in South Korea.

Stefan: A Cromwell in Korea? That's actually intriguing... not sure what I would do for markings though..

Your history installment just brought to my attention that I keep forgetting to look at the 1/48 Pershing. Would be nice to build one of those along with my M4A3E8 in tiger face livery.

Tom: Thanks for the info, and you're right, I think I'll pass.

No worries, I think we all know what you meant. It's not like there were that many variants in the Korean War

Decided to start a new read during my vacation: The Forgotten War, America in Korea 1950-1951 by Clay Blair. Fascinating reading, great narrative and highly recommended!

October's installment of Korean War History is one of the results of that read:

2 October 1950: MacArthur issues formal orders for the invasion of North Korea.
ROK forces on the east coast have already crossed the 38th parallel earlier in pursuit of the NKPA.
The Chinese Politburo authorizes Chinese intervention "to resist America and aid Korea."

7 October 1950: UN Security Council passes a resolution allowing "all appropriate steps to be taken to ensure conditions of stability throughout Korea", in fact allowing the Invasion of North Korea.

9 October 1950: I Corps crosses the 38th parallel north of Seoul into North Korea.

10.October 1950: ROK forces secure the harbor city of Wonsan on the east coast of North Korea. US Navy begins mine clearing operations in the harbor to prepare landing X Corps on the east Coast.

15 October 1950: MacArthur meets President Truman on Wake Island. The first Chinese communist forces Cross the Yalu river into North Korea.

19 October 1950: UN forces capture the North Korean capital Pyongyang.

25 October 1950: Chinese forces launch the First Phase Offensive. In the battle of Onjong, which lasts until October 29th, Chinese forces decimate the ROK II Corps and effectively stop the UN advance northward.

Gentlemen!

I have finally made the participants list as requested by some in this thread. Those engaged in the 1/48 scale campaign will find it familiar...

It shows that there are several people who wentioned interest in one of the threads and who haven't signed up yet. So, don't forget to sign up here!

So, here's the list:

Cheers and here's to a renewed effort in signing up!

I have a slight change of plans

I will be building a M39 for this Campaign, using the Legend conversion for the AFV Club M18, I will build the M16 for the "Target Shot Back", although this will be a Korean War example.

Nice list, I don't know why but it seems to give peace of mind to see campaign lists like that.

The barrel and most of the PE came in for my Sherman, I'm just waiting for the last bit of PE to come in sometime within the next month or so. May end up ordering the Tank Workshop or other brand's upper hull to replace the softly detailed HobbyBoss example.

Hi All,
Cyber-Hobby is coming out with a M4A3 Sherman Flamethrower with figures in the next 1/35 Orange series. It will be out in time for the campaign.
