OK, the Tamiya 1/32 P-51D is finished!

Kit is out of the box with Sky's Decals markings, painted with Floquil and Tamiya paints. It certainly is a great kit though the engine is a bit bare without wiring. Also I find that the canopy is a bit of a pain, it's held down in back but not in front so if you turn the model over it just flops open. Still, highly recommended!
I'll post a couple more pics to the gallery once I can get there (it's having problems again.) Great campaign everyone, keep up the wonderful work!
Michael

Hi
My M3 armoured car is all primered up just ready for painting, not sure to go with an British olive drab type colour or a British stoney brown colour.
The typical Israeli sand grey didnt come in until much later and a lot of the paint supplies were left over from the British army or RAF.
Joel
What era m51 are you planning on doing, if iam not mistaken the dragon m51 is a late one with the exhaust mounted on top of the engine deck.
regards
Peter
Peter, Sorry that's it's taken me so long to reply, or for that matter even start to visit Armora on a regular basis again. Work through the holiday season has just been so time demanding and physically exhausting, I've had little time for much of anything else, let alone even find time to get into the build..
I'm planning on doing it pretty much as an OOB build, so it's going to be a latest model. Just started to work on the bogy assemblies, and I can say their really over whelming. Can't really see what DML went to the bother of making them flexible when the model is primarily designed as a display piece.

Wayne, Great progress looking forward to seeing some colour on your build.
Michel, your P51 is looking the part it will look fantastic when it is finished I am not brave enough to try a metal finish like that.
I'll 2nd that.
Michael,
Every once in a long while I'll do a aircraft model. For natural metal finishes I've been using Model Master Metalizers, both buffing and non buffing. After sealing with there sealer, the final effect is spot on.
Just saw your finished P-51. It came out great.

Happy new year guys!
I have managed to get the wheels put together for the Humvee, it is a bit of a complex process.

Beautiful Mustang, Michael!
Scott, look like a nice set of wheels. Could you share a close up of those wheels?
I have made some more progress on my Israeli Super Sherman. I have been working on the tracks. Each little track "teeth" has to be cut loose, cleaned up and glued in place.
The tracks are a pain to put together, but the result is extremely nice. I am already playing with the thought of showing it with the tracks of. Either damaged or undergoing maintenance.
More to follow.

Jesper, I will try and get some better pics up but the parts are very small and hard to get a good picture of, the humvee donor kit is on the way and should be here in a few days hopefully? you have made a great start on your super Sherman those tracks looks a bit tricky!

I am still waiting for the Humvee kit to arrive so I have cracked on with the resin parts and the PE.
The instrument panel, there is 4 PE parts to it!

Hello everyone,
This is my first campaign that I was actually able to start something as all the other ones I enlisted in, well, I was unable to build anything so hopefully, this time around, it'll be different!
Since I received my Tamiya M51 late for X-Mas, I eager to crack it open and join this campaign.
Here are a few pics of what I have done so far. I've put about 2 hours worth of work on it.
The "Box"
The unboxing
Starting the lower hull

Completed lower hull tub

Test fitting the upper and lower hulls together

So far, I am pleased with the quality of this kit. It's typical Tamiya as far as assembly goes. One little thing is that some of the road wheels suffered from shrinkage on the outer face where the two molds halves join, resulting in a concave (does that word exists?) surface. I had to use Mr. Surfacer 500 to correct this.
Hopefully, I'll be able to post my progress sooner rather than later!
Cheers,
Chris

Jesper it looks like you are right behind me with your Shermy. I will start the tracks today after work.
Did you splice in the required seven links? I deciphered the instructions with help from the forum, but haven't worked the tracks yet. I was wondering how tricky that will be.

Christian,Great start It is good to see another M51 from another manufacturer.
I have most of the Humvee assembled now and almost ready for paint.

I am going to use lifecolor UA 020 Israeli sand gray.

Nice Humvee, Scott. Looking forward to see more.
Wayne, I have no extra track in my kit, so there is nothing to splice in. My kit is the older version with individual links. However, these individual links where missing and I thought I could replace them with the DS tracks. Obviously not......
Do you have extra track for your kit that you could share?
Did you fill in the smoke launchers with putty?
Construction is finished. Overall a very nice kit.

I scratched the smoke launchers with aluminum tube capped with stryene. Mine is a newer Orange Box release with the DS tracks like yours. The instruction sheet indicated seven links need to be inserted into each to fit on this tank. I was informed this M50 was built on a M4A4 extended chassis. I received a third length of track for this purpose.
I'm working on the tracks today. Let me get exact measurments and I'll let you have the spares. There will be plenty.

Scott, Unfortunately, you may be right. In the late '70s - early '80s the IDF began using a different color.
I think this site explains it pretty well.
Looking good though!

No problem, should have known better to be honest! I am thinking of putting the humvee on a small base with this figure?
