Bill,
Great choice! A couple of warnings, if I may. Look out for mold ejector trees (I found a couple of doozies right inside the intake and behind or under the seats. Your may have some elsewhere). And wash the parts thoroughly with soap and warm water, scrub a bit where you can. The mold release agent is strong on this one and I had a heck of a time getting paint to stick before I figured that out.
Looking forward to it!
Michael

Gentlemen,
Looks we have a good start to the campaign. I'm surprised by the numbers of Shermans being built, and of course the Merkavas. Plus it looks like the F-16 is also a huge favorite.
Since that is the case, I normally love to do something a little different. I'll go with an AH-64, the big question is the particular version. I have a Hasegawa D model in stock, and also have an inbound Hobby Boss D model. I realize the Hase kit would be much better, but also more work. I have a feeling the HBO D model will be simpler, but a quicker build - so we'll see !
In the meantime, keep the builds going .........Bruce...

Hay gang I still have not got anything to build for this campaign, unfortunately other things have taken priority lately as my sisters wedding and new motorcycle parts are more important than new kits. I am giving thought to doing a Merkava 4 but not sure if I am going to go with the hobby boss or academy kits? anyone have any opinion which is the better kit?
Thanks Scott

Hi Scott,I like Hobbyboss kits but they made a major fubar with the wheels on the Merkava. When I get my kit it will be the Academy dont like doing major surgery just to get the basic kit right.

Folks,
Ok then. My Hobby Boss AH-64D in 1/72 scale arrived, and I've had a little time to check it out. Perhaps the Hasegawa kit may be a little more detailed, but I am going with the HB kit. This will be my first HB build anyway, so that could be interesting, since they have quite an expanding line.
Fortunately, I have the Isradecal Publication on the Petan and Saraf, so I'm hoping to at least make this a decent model. If anyone has any experiance with HB models, drop a line.
I'll take a few shots of the box contents, and publish them here when I get a chance. Hopefully, everyone else's builds are coming along ! Take it easy, Gang....Bruce.....

dont ask me why i did all that work on the engine Im closing the lid u,p painted the batteries that has a cover over it.they say you dont have to be mad to be a modeller but it helps.

Out of curiosity, is there a prohibition against showing my model in a group build on a different site?
Large Scale Planes is doing a Mustang Madness build and my planned Tamiya 1/32 P-51D for this campaign would fit right in there.
My loyalty is certainly here, but if it wouldn't be violating any rules I'd like to let them see the build too.
Thanks!
Michael

Gentlemen,
If I did this correctly, you should see a photo of the Hobby Boss 1/72 AH-64D below. I will be doing my best to convert this to an Israeli "Saraf". There are a few changes that have to be made, such as the instrument panel changes, as well as substantial changes to the stub wings. Obviously, the Saraf's normally fly with external fuel tanks (From most of my photos, anyway) so I'll have to find a few hasegawa fuel tanks from the 1/72 H60's, that may be difficult, but we'll see.
Overall, the kit does not look too bad, and the fit seems to be very good so far. I'll keep you folks advised if your interested.

Hi
Heres my build , its the Azimut m3 scout armoured car as used in the 1948 war.
Made in local workshops using a sandwich of armour of timber between two layers of steel plate added to the m3 scout car, coplete with a turret. Armed with two mg34 machine guns.
The kit

Hull and turret put together

Revel m3 chassis and front end ready for resin body

Body placed on m3

Heres some of the model basically complete just a bit of filling and some details to be added.

Sorry photos not the best quality.

If the tires are in fact vinyl, DO NOT USE ENAMELS.
Enamel will NEVER DRY on vinyl.
After thoroughly scrubbing the tire with a good household cleaner made for windows/kitchen degreasing, use a paper towel moistened with a tiny tiny bit of laquer thinner and rub the tire down.
Stay with acrylics, and airbrush them lightly.
Another option, if you want, spray a light coat of acryilc flat onto the vinyl tire, after performing all the above steps, then instead of painting them, dust the tires with pigments/chalk pastels.

thank's for the kind words guys!

When I get going on a project, I don't like to quit! lol! This was my first attempt at a camo paint scheme on an aircraft, believe it or not. I love building model aircraft. This kit was purchased from a friend and member on here.... Heliman... is his screen name. He bought the kit, and was going to do this campaign, but do to other commitments with other campaigns going on at the same time, well I bought the kit from him and said I'll do this campaign!
