Hi Jerry - the tough part for me as always! I don't know enough about the specifics, but man, this looks so damn good! Also as always, you're nailing the sentiment of the scene - remarkable!

Cheers

@Kurt-thanks for the kind words buddy. I am improving a bit on the painting I think. I still am not patient enough I suppose. I think I am more eager to tell the story and won't slow down enough to put enough effort in the painting.
Nick- The intent is to hopefully tell the story, even when ,like yourself, you are not familiar with it.
Your dios succeed at this brilliantly as do Kurts'

Hey Jerry,

This diorama is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see it finished. I like the way the picture of the guys killed at the car came out.

Make the Sergeant Major happy with the paratroopers you are making for him and get back on track with this!:)

Cheers from a fellow paratrooper and modeling ADD sufferer,
James

Thanks gents, for the kind words of encouragement!! I haven't totally dropped this. To take a break from airborne stuff on the weekend I work a bit here.
Yesterday I got this new tree done. Romain schooled me well. I think this is my best yet. I still have to try his steel wool method though.

The dead Oberst will have his shoulder leaning against this trees' trunk.

LOL! The pressure from the Peanut Gallery is really on now! ... and you're obviously up to the task(s)! I want to see this finished as well but secretly, I don't ever want it to end!

I'm with Mike. I want to see this completed SOOOOOOO badly, but all the same, I'll be a lost dog when it's over.

Guess I'll have to place all my cards on the Sanatorium then?

Nice ground work sir, especially the trees.

Nah....
This has to be completed soon out of humanitarian considerations.. It'd be torture otherwise!

And somehow I am quite convinced that mr. Rutman will keep us hooked with more plastic whizzing magic!

Here is a case in point about how I get bogged down in details. I wanted to make some debris for the roadside ditches. So I thought ....ammo boxes. Always around on the supply roads in every battle so good!! Found some old Tamiya ones and then made the mistake of going on the interwebs. I found a pic of the real thing! So.....I had to put on PE hinges and latches and replace the molded on carrying ropes with thread and had to show the boxess busted up etc etc etc. Pretty soon the whole modeling day is gone and all I have is these three boxes to show for it.
Kinda challenging though so I suppose it's all good in the end??

I wouldn't sweat getting bogged down in stuff like this. It's what makes a diorama interesting to see and really pops out in the end. You'll be glad you put in this extra time, I'm sure of it.

By the way, it look's awesome, but you didn't need to hear that to know it

Now let's be fair here....
If you would just build and paint them and pop them into the dio, they'd haunt you for years. You eyes would get drawn to them e-ve-ry time you looked at the dio, knowing it isn't right... that you've been cutting corners.
In a dio like this it all has to match on every single level.
So... bog down....

end of lecture

Thank you my model building brethren for checking in. Yes Romain I think Ron-bo nailed it. I would be doing exactly that every time I looked at this thing. I now have an additional problem with this dinosaur though. It has now been in the works so long that I look at some of the first stuff I built for it and it doesn't "measure up" with me any longer. So....do I go back and re-do it all? Take another 2 years?
Or drive on to completion and use the newer skills on the next one?

Hmmmm??.
