Hi guys,
Just understand the title:
Just another 105 More Months!
Seriously, Jerry, it is getting a very attractive composition, which will offer the viewer many minutes of wondering and astonishing about the little details in every corner of the dio. The misery of the defeated soldier is very well represented due to all the items around him.
Chapeau!

I hope you're not talking about the original 2 horse riders! I thought they came out great.

Thanks Dan I just saw it today as well. I think they used a pic that I saw in one of the Panzerwrecks editions as inspiration.
It shows French civilians collecting bodies from a Marder that was knocked out in their town. They had a cart and horse. Very similar scene but of course this new figgie is a grunt and does look early war.
Maybe kind of an awkward pose for using in a lot of different scenes though?

Tree burst!! Nasty splinters flying through the air can cause a lot of damage and suffering. If you look at some pics of Normandy you can see just the stumps of trees in a orchard or treeline after the artillery is finished.
I still have to manipulate some things like the wounded guys' leg not touching the road and add a few more layers but I am getting close to finishing the groundwork!!
This will cause some out there to wipe their foreheads in relief I'm sure!

What a nice scene you make!
Thanks for sharing.
And the wounded guy's leg? Just a broken branch and done!
Looking forward to see more.

Great work, Jerry.
I wondered what happened to the two W-SS guys.
The whole scene looks like it will be terrific.
Cheers,
Sean

THEY'RE BACK! I'm pumped, I loved those 2 guys are it's awesome to see them make an appearance in this epic. Looks awesome and really coming together. IMO, those 2 are right on par with the figures you've made recently.

@Sean-thanks ol buddy- I had these guys in mind from the start. It's just taken so long to get to this point!
@Conor-thanks bubba-I was always gonna use these two. The two I am thinking about binning are two that haven't been seen yet. They never got past the basic posing etc. I think I need to tie those two in more with the scene on the near side of the road? At least one of them anyway.

Hi Jerry, great work as always, really nice pics too! I think your equal level of attention to the whole scene, items big and small, is really paying off! Nice

Sweet!!!
This is some great work, man!
I have that wounded couple too and I just love them. The way they are done... speak to the imagination.
As for the ground work, I am sure you have thought of it all, but the road looks awfully clean and even. A large dead area...

Great to see those two WSS guys finally fitted into this scene. The airbrush damage to the foliage is a particularly nice touch. You can really see this all coming together now.

You're a true artist! All those details really makes the difference. It's a nice touch with the Waffen SS and Wehrmacht in the same conwoy. In reallity it really was a big mash up of all kind of German forces, trying to escape the pocket. Could there be room for a Tanker and a Luftwaffe soldier, maybe as walking wounded, or would this just over crowd the scene. Just an idea, no critic.

Wow!! Thanks guys for all of the comments. Nice morning after the outstanding game last night. Exciting for sure.
Kurt and Nick-thanks for sticking with this endless thing here. I appreciate it guys.
@Ron- Be patient grasshopper the road will be full soon enough!
@Karl- I read personal accounts about the cauldron and they all tell of the area in this dio(St Lambert/Trun) being packed with elements of every kind of unit in the Wehrmacht. Very little unit cohesion was left and it finally became just"every man for himself" as the men sought leadership from any person that displayed it. WSS teamed up with Heer or Luftwaffe and it didn't matter because survival was all they were looking for.
@Jacob-thanks for the kind words bubba!! There is more to come as I get time. I still have the other para to finish.

Hey Jerry,
It's been a while since I have looked at this project and am impressed by the progress you have made and how well you are capturing the moment. The poses are spot on and it is good to see those Waffen SS guys as I seem to remember seeing them quite a while ago. They are a good addition to the scene.
I really like the foliage and how natural it is looking.
Although you have been working on this for quite a while, the results you are achieving are well worth the time it is taking. Keep up the great work.
Cheers,
James

Thanks for checking in and for the excellent words of encouragement. Very nice of you!!
I tried something I always wanted to try yesterday and today I made some canvas and cloth items out of epoxy sculpt. I wanted to rework the field piece a bit and so in starting on that decided to work up the patience and courage in order to try the new method that many guys have used to replace the old school method of using tissue soaked in diluted white glue. In fact I used the old method for the gunsite cover and the muzzle cover on this gun!
So here goes.
I will spray some dust on everything when I am further along. I want to go back and re-weather the gun and limber.
