Always a treat to see some new progress on this one, Jer.

The epoxy putty tarps look very nice. It's hard to get that heavy draped- fabric look with the tissue-glue technique, but the putty tarps sag nicely on each side of the trails.

and just as it's always nice to see something new here, I'm always looking forward to the next up-date!

Happy modeling!

Jerry,

The tarps made of putty turned out well. I like how you made sure to show the way the ropes dig into the cloth when tied securely. And then the old method for the muzzle cover was the right way to go with that. You are really getting to utilized all kinds of modeling skills and techniques on this diorama.

Great work.
Cheers,
James

Hi Jerry,

Still following along in the background, excellent progress, thing are looking 1st class. Love what you've done so far, the artillery piece is a nice addition.

Look forward to more, wounded/dead figures are excellent.

As I said in the last post I did some more weathering on the gun. Things like a dark brown wash and some shading etc. I tried to define the breech cover a lot more as it sort of blended in the old way. Put a bit of dried mud on the wheels and trail spades but not too much as I wanted it to look like it had been there awhile. Now some dust and foliage.

A little overboard with the close up. I do see that I lost a hand hold during the course of events. Gotta make a new one.

It's been reasonably mild this year and some challenging kits have kept me warm and fuzzy when it has been chilly. It's amazing how much a good cussing can raise your body temperature

Hi Jerry - I've got to say, your epoxy sculpt tarps etc look the part. Is that a one or two part material? I've got a two part clay in the parts/junk box Ive never tried to use before - I might now - just need to find something to wrap, cover or store!

Take care

Hi Jerry,

Coming along really well. I haven't done any modelling since the end of November, I was sick as a dog all through December and January but on the mend now. Home decoration and a Spring Clean at the moment so I'll probably make a start on something by the end of February/start of March all being well.

Cheers

@Al- Sorry to read about your extended illness but I'm glad to know you're on the go again. But isn't it a bit early to be on the spring cleaning? It's still cold as all get out here.
@Edmund-thanks friend for the kind comment.

Yeah... nice!!!
Love the gun and the extra work!
Maybe a tip, but I found that the "cloth" on cheap, thin umbrellas resembles canvas quite well. It folds in just the right way and has a surfacetexture that I actually like.

Here's what I mean; http://armorama.com/forums/181195#1520993

What I meant by my previous road comments is that the road is very flat. I would expect some grooves into a dirt road, where wheels grind it away over time. Plus some stones, pebbles etc. Not just gear and debris. http://armorama.com/forums/181195#1520993

Ron
Thanks for the tip. I am always looking for new stuff to try. Bit late for this one though.
As for the road I was going for roads like I saw in Europe in the summer on the training areas. These were unpaved and were packed very very hard by traffic. No grooves or ruts not even shallow ones. I did put a few divots in the road now to try to replicate strafing hits. They will show up better when I add a wash.

Here are a few happy snaps on the gun and limber. Still not done but getting there?

I have a ton of work to do on the team and crew yet but I am seeing a glimmer of light at the tunnels' end?

Nice variety in the colors of the leaves, Jer. I know that took some time to do, painting each leaf a slightly different color! Adds a lot, though.

As always, looking forward to the next update.

Happy modeling, my friend!

To the Mikes and Romain
Thanks for the words of encouragement men! I think I am finally getting the hang of those paper leaf products. Took a lot of practice and following the advice of Romain and Comte Claude etc to try to get them to look half way decent. Still not completely satisfied but at least there is some improvement. The Belgrade vignette in this forum really shows a brilliant job with the ivy vine. Just perfect! I know how hard that was.

Hi Jerry - I've been switching back and forth between this and Kurt's current project - it's great to see examples of different seasons done so damn well! Leaf by leaf and snowflake by snowflake - great to watch!

Nick and Dimi
Thanks for checking in and for the nice comments. Warms me up a bit on this coldest day of the year so far!!!!
And of course woke up today with no natural gas coming into the house. So no heat or hot water or stove!!!
Sort of like being back in my hole in Iraq before desert storm.

I am in winter but it feels like spring in 1:1 land. It's been in the mid 50s F here for about two weeks now! ... My old bones don't mind it at all, so no complaints from me!

Keep up the great work!
