I think both poses have their respective advantages. The groping look has a more emotional appeal, it reminds me of that WWI photo of the line of blinded guys. Then again the pose with the hand clutching the head gives it more of an "ouch" look. I think they're even with each other no matter which you go with.

What makes it even harder to decide is the fact that both poses would work in the dio. The dio shows the effects of multiple attacks by Jabos and arty. So an older wound(groping guy) works as well as the newer wound(hand to head guy). I think I will go with the groping guy though.
I went to the Valley Forge figure show yesterday and stocked up on Hornet heads from Red Lancers so I should be good for the year!

This is the very first thing I painted using my new Optivisor. Never used one before so I suppose I am now officially an old man!
I have some new paints from Vallejo and AK as well and they are nice!! I thought the ammo pouches came out the best I've done so far.

Not much to show as I have had a lot of real life duties recently!!

Hi Jerry -

Good to see a post!

Optivisor or not, you really nailed the skin tones - nice (especially for acrylics) How are you able to get the acrylic paint to go on so smoothly? I'm getting better with colors and even some blending, but still have more surface texture on the dried painted surface than I'd like, or that looks realistic.

I too use the optivisor, specifically for figures, and it helps me a lot!

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks Nick!!
I now use the very good advice someone gave me here. After the primer dries I sand the figure with a fiberglass pen and get it nice and smooth! I then use thinned down paint in layers.
I also started to use Lifecolor paint and the thinner by the same company. This seems to help. Also, stirring the paint a lot works as well.
Time to get this ball rolling again on here.

Hi Jerry,

Nice work on the two figures. The torn trouser leg is excellent. Keep up the good work.

Al and Karl,
Thanks for checking in buddies!
Here is a few more snaps showing the small progress over the last two days. I love this optivisor and it makes things easier for sure. I don't know if I improved because of it but it is way easier on me eyes!!

Maybe too heavy on the buff color in the bandage?? Tone down a bit? I tried to show a torn off shoulder board and ripped shoulder seam but it didn't translate too well.
Have a look.

Hi Jerry, The figures look fantastic! ... notable detail on the pouches!

Welcome to ... head-gear world!

Careful with long durations of Optivisor use ... take breaks.

Outstanding detail, Jerry.
As well as the pouches, the scrapes on the helmet and the camouflaged pack are excellent.
Glad to see this one moving again.

I like horsey kits. Good to see your work, very detailed.
I have the ICM kits, some Dragon Corsac kits w/horsey's..
This helps me, thx.

PS- I like the wounded soldiers hair

Looking real good Jerry, awesome in fact...

I'm with you on the optivisor, in fact, I'm waiting for Eviilbay to deliver these bad boys...

Only 17.90 Canadian after the exchange, delivery within 45 days....which sucks but better than a kick in the head with a frozen Muckluk.

Looks like a pretty top flight visor!! I can't believe it is so inexpensive as well. Where can you get one?

Thanks for the linky. I will have to investigate!!
I made this guy a while ago for another Falaise vignette.

"Showin' a little "tude"

After thinking of all the other sub-plots going on in this never-ending dio build I don't think I can make him fit.
I will have to be content with dreaming up yet another scenerio for this guy.

YES! It's the figure who fell into the abyss of nevermore. Glad to see him coming back, great job on him all around. All these sub-plots are great and just keep adding layers to this scene. It's like it's own sad little world.

Nope, sorry Conor, that guy will be in another scene and didn't make the cut. His agent wasn't happy.

Got to work on the rest of the figs as I need to have two more done before I can affix the limber to the base.
Pieced together so far is this jumper. Just basic body, head and limbs so far.

You can see how much the askew helmet increases the drama

Here is a climber/scrambler. Again, just in mock-up stage so far.

I am actually pumped as I finally got a bit of mojo back yesterday and today.

Another boring update as I add more detail to the last two guys

Helmet up,hair up and tops of sleeves up hopefully portray some weightlessness along with the tunic bottom

Scrambler guy also gets the start of a tunic and further continues his transformation from an American para to a Wehrmacht gunner.

Enjoy.

Hi Jerry - as always, your modesty - ugh! If I could ever figure out how to make resin and plastic look "dynamic" like you do! No, not bored.

The little relocation of the guys helmet - nice touch! I might like the last photo even more - that guy's pose looks real! Like you just took a photo of a guy in motion! I'll bet the Great Romain would be pleased with that pose!

Have a great weekend! (And keep building!)

Nick
