Entered a group build on another site and thought that I would include this arty piece in a dio.
Gathered major parts

Major componants assembled and the covers for the breech and gunsite are under way with putty

Very cool, and different from the usual stuff. There's still a half section at Ft. Sill, but they use a 75 and not a 105. Can't wait to see more of this one.

Thanks 18b,
Major components are done for the gun so this is next. I don't have much in the way of refs for this thing so I must piece together images from 5 different partial shots and make an educated guess. Started with wheels from the LfH18 and the limber for the goulashkannone.

Unless you're working from specific references, wouldn't the limber and gun have wooden spoked wheels? From what I've seen low-speed vehicles (horse-drawn) had wooden spoked wheels.

The norm was wooden spoked wheels but I have pics of metal on both gun and limber and also a mix of the both.

Got some mucho better intel on the limber. I decided to make the late version which was lighter and smaller. The picture of it is in the background. Gotthe basic shapes done.

I should probably explain why this is in the dio forum. This limber will be in a full arty horse drawn set. The scene is the "great escape" through the Falaise gap in the summer of 44. I had started out making the early 105 with pressed steel wheels but I found these pics of the later light weight version and I thought it would fit better for Normandy.
Need a bit more help with intel though. Any of our French friends have summer pics of the small roads around Trun or Falaise that were used in this affair? I have a general concept in mind but still need to fine tune it. Then I will make my story board.

Get some new refs on the limber so changes were made. Slanted the tops of the seat backs, added pioneer tools, suspension details, changed the back footrest. Still working on a complete new wheels as the Gulashkanone wheel was pretty wrong fo rthis.

Here is the new wheel with the gulashkanone wheel as a ref. Also added the rest of the tools and the rifle racks are almost done as well.

Started on the horses. Put the heads down on the 2 wheel horses and remade the first harness as it sat too high. Here are both sides but the work is only started.

Decided to go with the later version of the 105mm and wanted the last style wheel for it. So here is the later cannon almost ready for paint and with the new scratchbuilt wheel fresh out of the mold box. Still needs the rest of the hub.

Amazing job on the horse tack. You've managed to scratch detail I wouldn't even be able to see!
