Folks, I'm posting for Mason since he's heartbroken. Our cat decided to play with his F1 while we were at a school Christmas concert tonight. We came home to find it in pieces all over the floor. It is salvageable though. He has proudly left it out for all visitors to see as he works through the tracks and final stages. This is a new level for the cat, since she has never taken interest in any of the models before. The bad part was that all he had time to do was find the busted off pieces before getting his bath and heading straight to bed...he wanted so badly to stay up and fix it, but it''s a school night...

This happened to me once Mason a few years back when I was in middle school. Though it wasn't with a cat. It was a dog. And it was not salvageable. And it was my first armor model (a tamiya m41 bulldog to be exact). Things will be okay!

Mason:

Fantastic job on your Pz IV! I'll miss your cat though...

Once I was carrying a finished model back to my basement after a model show when I missed the bottom step. Let's just say that nothing takes an '88 out faster than 250 pounds of middle-age model builder!

Don't get discouraged - I'm sure it will go back together. Keep up the excellent work and have a Merry Christmas.

Nicely done young man. That's a build to display with pride.

Mason I can understand how gutted you are about your model, but you can turn this into a positive by looking at it as a learning curve. The Friul tracks can be used on another build as can the figures and the interior. The turret if not to badly damaged could be used as a defence post that the Germans used so much towards the end of the war. Lastly remember it is not the cats fault and yes I know that's not what you are thinking just at the moment.

with Dad's guidance, my F1 is almost back together. I need to hide some of the obvious breaks. Dad suggested bedding rolls, net and even a flag. He will get pictures up tomorrow he said.

Good on you, Mason!

That's a display of fortitude for us all and puts you in the "teacher's" roll of setting a good example for everyone else.

Hang in there and keep at it. Your next build will be better than this one even before the cat got to it.

Hope you're already looking forward to and thinking about that next build too and planning what you're going to do with it.

Thanks for the example, too, of how to overcome disaster!

Happy New Year and Happy Modeling!

Maybe the kitty just wanted to see you build an arv.

Thank you everyone. My Dad got sick on Christmas Eve and wasn't up to much yesterday as he got worse. He did take this picture. I still need to glue the Crew man's headset on, drill a new hole and install the cable anchor and the back. The bed rolls are drying from the weathering paint, so they will hide the upper hull separation that I just cant fix perfectly. The turret basket and main gun basket were in too many pieces. dad suggested putting another crewman on the open hatch.

I think I have most of the breaks covered, except one. The pictures that Dad took don't show it. Here are the pictures.

Darned nice come back, Mason!

That was one heck'ov'a complicated build to start with - near full interior, with interior and exterior figures, and link-to-link track to boot! Not too many model builders with 10-times your experience would have even attempted it, but you did it twice!

So, my hat's off to you, sir! Thanks for sharing your build, and I'll be looking forward to seeing what you're gonna do next.

Happy New Year and Happy Modeling!

PS: Hope your dad's feeling better, too!

Thank you. I guess I just don't know any better than to just fix it.

Dad did get me my next model, a Dragon El Alamein Sherman

Wow. This is an awesome build, and an even MORE awesome recovery. The Fruils must have been tough too. I am a junior modeller to and Im speechless.
Good luck with the rest of the build. Im eagerly awaiting the completion of this build.

Thank you Adrian. The Fruil tracks took forever to finish. I should have bugged my Dad to get them at the start and started them then. I am getting better, but credit goes to my Dad and the forums here for direction. If it weren't for the encouragement I got here and from Dad, I would have quit several times during this build.
