I'm a comparably fast builder, so I'm sure I'll find something to fit in this one.

Since the British didn’t think in terms of “light” and “medium”, it’s a little hard trying to determine if certain British tanks would qualify for this campaign.

As Tom and I discussed, British Cruiser tanks no later than the A13 Mk. IV will be allowed.

According to Wikipedia, the Crusader MK. II is classes as a Cruiser MK VIA, which would be to close to a medium tank.

The Valentine tank is also getting a little close to being a medium tank, I guess I would allow The Valentine MK-I through MK-VII, (those with a 2pd gun).

Thanks for the info John, very helpful:
So, this is going to be my choice

Got some PE for it as well and I'm very tempted by some resin goodies from Accurate Armour...but the usual low-tide in the wallet department will probably prevent me from indulging.

M50 Ontos - does the Ontos count ?

The M50 Ontos is an anti Tank vehicle, so it's not allowed.

I'm interested and have signed up.
Just to play the devil's advocate, to determine what defines a light tank, one might have to keep comparisons to within each individual nation. Certainly cannot be based on gun size. For example, the Chaffee has a 75mm gun, but so does the Sherman. The British 2pdr was brought up as a cut off point, but remember the Matilda was equipped with the same gun, and it definitely wasn't a light tank.
As for Bronco's Cv33, yes that for sure constitutes as a tankette.

regards,
Jack

Just signed up.
Maybe a BT 7, T19, T37, M5A1 Stuart, a member of the 7TP Family, Panzer 1 or 2, Vickers Light - lots of choice. Oh which one to make and who knows what santa will bring. Probably make a R35 in the Levant with the new Azimut figures. Just got the figures yesterday and they look quite inspiring. Now for the research followed by

Just a suggestion for anyone who has not picked a tank to do, look on the Martola website for some interesting polish/french/ex-french tanks and tankettes from Mirage and RPM.

I just joined and will be currently in the Panther Campaign as well.

The 2 Japanese tanks I have are the Type 1 75MM self-propelled gun and the Type 97 to choose from, at least from what I can see.

I'm sure either are okay?

I think what defines a light tank is whether the nation that made it considered it a light tank. You can't really go by weight, gun caliber, size, or armor thickness. To other nations, the Type 97 (the type molded by Tamiya) would be considered a light tank but to the Japanese it was considered a Medium tank. There was a Type 97 tankette which is molded by Fine Molds.

Oh wow then, well ... okay. Those are the only two light tanks (double checked) I have so I guess I'll bail.

It was worth a try.

Jeff,

I’m sorry your two kits didn’t qualify. The Type 1 75mm is a self propelled gun, so that kills it right there.

I have been using wikipedia as reference and it confirms what Gary was saying about the type 97. Japan classified it as a medium tank.

There’s still plenty of time, so if you happen to pick up a light tank, feel free to join in.

Oh hey, there's no problem or worries. I'll keep looking for something in the meantime. I've always wanted to build an FT-17 or equivalent so I'll start there.

Thanks for the reply!
