Just signed on the dotted line to join up. At this stage either an Academy M3 'Honey' or a Vulcan Light Tank Mk VIB

or may be both.
cheers

I got these two kits on Monday at the LHS during the Boxing week sale, but I wasn't able to upload the photos until now due to the server being busy. Anyways, here are the photos. I will be building the interior that comes with the kit and modifying the figures to fit them inside (one way or another

), but that won't be for a while because I have already started my Panther for the Panther campaign.

BTW, one of the figures will be going to my Panther since the Pz 38(t) only had four crew.
Cheers,

Others will certainly know more, but that Artillery crew members have newer uniforms and hats than panzer crews from early in the war, when the 38(t) was used. A more typical uniform would be the black panzer uniform, and the early war black beret.

As Jesse pointed out, that artillery crew uniform (which is really just the regular army jacket) would not be correct for a panzer crew. Towards the end of war it is possible to see these with AFV members due to shortages, but is more likely with open top vehicles and tanks designed in the tank hunter role, such as the Jagdpanther.
Panzer 38(t) crews would be in the black panzer wrap around jacket. Poland and France would see the black beret worn. The black side cap was introduced March 27, 1940. A black M-43 cap, similar to the ones as depicted in the above figure set, were introduced in mid 1943.

Oh..thanks for giving me a heads up though. Are there any crew sets for early war crew sets you could recommend? I wasn't really thinking this through when I bought it I guess.
Thanks,

I can suggest a few:
There are a some other sets but they are posed standing outside the vehicle.
The Stug crew just have to remember to paint them black, and the one with the cap can go with your Panther build.
Really any panzer black uniform will do, just the headgear is the contention depending on time frame.
Poland - beret
France - beret and/or side cap
Russia - side cap but panzer 38(t) crews still retained their berets
If you need more figures with the beret, you can always get Hornet's headset of panzer berets.
Good link for the headgear:

I signed on the dotted line as well...the driving force being a trip to the LHS yesterday. They had the tristar Pzkpfw.38(t) E/F and the vulcan Vickers Mk VIb available. Being a man of logic I chose the more expensive, yet poorer quality kit of the Mk VIb... I find panzergrau quite boring, actually

Green light people! So I started with my Vulcan models kit.

I was quite happy with the kit contents. It looks a bit like a soft dud at first sight, but the details are crisp enough. The plastic reacts quickly to glue so you need not apply a lot and it will set quickly. The pic was taken with a somewhat aged blackberry, because I left my camera at the family (not that it makes a lot of difference)

and here is a photo showing all the goodies in the box.. for a small tank it sure has a lot of parts..
I prob won't build to much on it unitll I finish up my Universal Carrier, but I can do my research..

Okay, I have to ask, but would a flamethrower variant of a T-26 be acceptable? I thought I had a T-26, but its the OT-130 version instead. I was considering a conversion to an AT-1, so I wasn't paying attention to the turret years ago when I purchased it.

Because its the start of the year and I don't want to get too tied down, this is the kit I have chosen for the campaign.

Yes I know its an easy one but I don't know what else I may start during the year, It will be in a dio of some sort but I haven't work any out details yet.
Cheers.

Hi Guys,
Hope everyone had a happy new year. I got to work on my 38-T from my Trumpeter Panzertragerwagen kit

When I1st opened the box and looked through the directions I didnt think that there would be much detail but as I started building it I was quite surprised

I got this done before the big game Sunday nite

then last night got some work done on the main gun and turret. This little guy will be put in a dio for the Military Railroad Campaign

You`re a fast worker, Sal. Good progress so far. I`m not nearly as far.
Began the first few steps yesterday: cracked open the box and started sniffing glue.

Started with the tub. Detail is crisp enough on there. The main problem is two punchmarks on each pf the leaf spring units. Filled with squadron`s filler and Mr Surfacer 1200. Still needs good cleanup.

Next up was filling the punchmarks on the roadwheels. Added some new cast texture with the Mr Surfacer. Again, some rough edges that need to be smoothed out. The suspension units feature a few deep punchmarks that have to be filled. The mould seams are quite thick on them, so they`ll need a good bit of sanding paper and TLC

The turret and some of the hull parts have a few poorly defined rivets here and there. Masterclub rivets will have to fix that. The details is a bit thick as well. I`m thinking that maybe it should be replaced by plastic strips.

Compare to the real thing (picture by Jean Thomas Rembert, source Primeportal)
Looks like I`ll have my work cut out for me...

As you probably figured, I'll be building a Skif 1/72 OT-130 (aka KhT-130) flamethrower version of the T-26. I got a really good deal on the kit and I think I know why. The track is a one-piece vinyl affair with a solid strip instead of individual guide teeth. Right about now I'm wishing I had known better and got a UM kit instead.

Hi All
Because the Tamiya kit is an easy one I decided to also build this Stuart M3A1.

I built this some time ago but may also add it to the diorama, but I may need to re-paint it.

This is where I’m at with my Tamiya kit.

Cheers.

I finished the major hull construction tonight. As you can see there are a few fit issues, but Mr. Dissolved putty seams to be taking care of that. Still a little more filling to be done. Then move on to the details.
Over all this kit has some nice detail, but it is also a bit fiddly.

Hi Folks,
Just signed up, not sure which kits I will be doing, but they will be all in Braille scale. I look forward to being part of this campaign, something a little different from all the big cats and Shermans.
All the best,
Paul
