Painting started thiw weekend w/ a little pre-shading, course the Merkava has numerous bolts, panels, and fixtures throughout the turret..pretty time consuming. I used a MM semi-gloss black left over from my Black Widow build

Now it's drying..quess I better start the b&c armor!

Any feedback welcome

I have an Academy Merkava IV that has the crew and lower hull done. It's time to finish that baby off, so this Campaign will be perfect for that

Pics soon

I'm going to try and get the following two completed. The T-70 has been untouched for about two years and the Sd.Kfz.251/D has been in this state for over three years.

That 251 looks good. At least it has stawage for the troop compartment and such. That is why i hate the Tamiya 251C. i ended up making my own seats for it. Not perfect, but hopefully better. I have some Eduard etch for it, but the eduard instructions are really crappy.
You need good references to install alot of pieces.

How is the Mini Art kit?

Ola Alan

Thanks for the compliments. I'm really pleased with how that vehicle turned out. Your built is pretty awesome as well. I always love to see vehicles with an interior. Even if a lot of it can't be seen.

Ok I went to my parents house to pick up the builts I had planned to finish in this campaign and came accross some problems which you have when you let a built sit through a few years. The matter of lost parts. This meant I had to rethink which models I wanted to take with me.
I decided to take the Lend lease dodge off the list as there are several parts that I painted separate but didn't include them with the vehicle. I know I still have them but for the life of me can't remember where I left them

The list is as follows:
Panhard 187. Needs weathering. And I lost the exhaust pipe which needs to be scratched.

Mercedes Benz Stuttgard 260 Luftschutzwagen. Need detailpainting and weathering

Bronco Hotchkiss H39. Exterior painting. Weathering. Friuls.

To replace the Lend lease dodge: Tamiya Steyr 1500 with Das Werk Ambulance body. Needs weathering and some little repairs.

And in one of the dusty corners of my hobby area I dug up another little vehicle. I never made pics of it. It is a Steyr 250 from wespe. A really mediocre kit of which I think I paid too much. Vehicle needs weathering. This is what it looks like.

If you are thinking of buying that kit from Wespe make sure you get it cheap or even better for nothing at all. In the end you get a vehicle looking like a steyr 250 but it is so overly simplified it is absolutely not worth what Wespe is pricing it for.

So yeah. Hopefully I can finish some of the vehicles above. Some of them have been standing still for over 5 years. So a finish is due for them.

I ripped apart a bunch of pieces to shoot the driver's area panzer interior buff. I'm not sure how correct it is, though i did see 1-2 pictures with a light driver's area.
I added the custom rear seats and shot some Future on the buff colored areas and the floor/troop seats.
A wash or two is next, then i will install the floor and dashboard. Then to break my stones on the rifle stowage/upper rear seat brackets and cushions.

Marc
The Mini Art Kit is not bad, the figures that came with it are really good. The only thing I don’t like and the main reason I stopped the build is the individual track links which are very small and are a pain to clean up and glue together.

Ola Guys

Well I am off as well. I decided to start with the easiest one of the lot. Wespe Models Steyr 250. When I went through my gallery I found out I never photographed it but immediately remembered why. The kit can be called Mediocre at best. I bought it once at an event for half price. When I came home and started building it I found out I paid way too much. The kit is probably from their Piece of Crap line. It is horribly simplified. Not really fine in detail and I have not even a clue what the thing on the back is supposed to be. Either it is a tarp to cover the boot or it is a really lousy representation of a folded up roof. Whatever it is.. This kit hardly justifies it's costprice of 58 euro new. It doesnt even justify the half price to be honest. But I hope I can save it a bit with painting, decals and weathering.

Here goes. First a set of pics to show how I found it at my parents home

And since I got it to my own home I did some pinwashes with black oilpaint. The Oil dot thingy and a few decals from the leftovers (no pics of this yet) And already the vehicle has a bit more zing to it. I like how the oilwash with turpentine gives the vehicle a bit of a sheen which you always see with painted metal.

Tonight I will add some more decals. Do a bit more weathering and make new pictures.

With friendly greetz

Jeff B. I have a question.Does the kit need to be started but not finished,or can it be a kit from your stash? I've got a few that I have had for awhile and would like to build.Jeff T.

Jeff, it's definitely not a rare affliction. Contagious is probably more like it. You will probably find the box for your M-46 at about the same time I find the barrel for this Leopard 2A6. Scary part is that the Hobbyboss barrel fit better in the Revell of Germany Leopard than it did in the Hobbyboss Leopard.

Hi,

I just noticed this campaign and thought it was a brilliant idea, I have several part done and nearly done models (nothing unusual there, most modellers are the same) and this would be the perfect excuse to get some finished.

All the best,

Paul

Yep, thought I had a rare affliction and was the only one who had a few unfinished models/projects.

I doubt I get them all completed like you're attempting.

I've gotten far enough along on my first model that I am pretty sure I will finish it.

So we'll start off with Dragon/Cyber Hobby's StuG III ausf. F. I planned on building this one as a GD StuG with all of its cool field modifications. I have only had the kits a couple of years. I had started it and worked on some subassemblies but never could finish it off.

The first thing I had to do was figure out what I had assembled and what I had not. I tend to jump around a bit when assebling the old StuG kits. So I finish the upper hull, running gear, etc.

I decided to go ahead and spray a base coat of paint. Since the roadwheels were already painted, I masked them using plastic wrap. The parts were put in my hi-tech box top paint tray and sent off to paint.

Now comes the tracks. I start on the bottom and wrap them around the running gear. I will use rubber bands or even thread to hold them in place while they dry. Done, I remove them for paint.

I usually run two part lengths of tracks. For the driver's side, I slip a length of thread through both runs to keep the sides identified. I shot a base coat of flat black. Once dry, I shot a light coat of Panzer Gray. I only do the black on Magic Track. I use good old Testors Tube Glue to fix the track runs to the running gear.

Well it's far from done but 'm going to take a break from it to work on a couple of other campaigns. I'm thinking of going with a generic unidentified vehicle and just have some fun with the stowage and field modifications.

Questions, comments, etc?

Jeff B.--------------------------how about a little Phoenix rising from the ashes? That would be fitting since we are rejuvenating some of our lost models.

Larry the Cable Guy ala Uncle Sam but instead of pointing and saying "I WANT YOU",He points and says "GIT R DONE"
Any way,I'm in with this,I know it's a stretch, but as you can see,I did take the parts out of the bags and mark the sprues.I did this around Christmas time and then put it away and forgot about it.
It will be OOB except for the Friuls.Jeff T.

Ola Guys

Really nice projects so far.

@ Alex
That stug is coming along nicely. Looking forward to the rest of the progress.

@ Jeff. Modern is not my cup of tea but that is some serious neat preshading. Hope you will not hide all that great work under the basecoat.

@ John
Great choices there mate. That T70 is a fun little kit. The tracks are indeed tricky but with a bit of patience you can make it into a stunning model. The AFV Club 251 with the Pak 40 is also a very nice kit.

@ Marc
Great progress on that old 251. Often it can help a lot of you do some good painting on an old kit to make it shine. Looking forward to how you will bring it to life.

@ Cyrille.
Nice kit. Will give you a lot of weathering possibilities.

@ Paul
Well that is a start isn't it. It is what the campaign is all about Looking forward to the built and the painting.

@ Jeff T.
In the campaign at the earliest of starts. Looking forward what you make of it. The Sheridan is actually one of the few post ww2 vehicles I like.

Ok time for a bit of update from my side.
Spend a considerable amount of time making the grey look less boring. Countless of oil dot filtering passed. On Small areas. More pinwashes were applied. I scratchbuilt a windscreenwiper. Gave the seats a few more washes with black. Applied decals and did a bit of chipping. Next up is flinging pigments at this vehicle. Here are the pics

Now I look at the pics I realise I'm not done with the oildot thingy. As the back needs a little bit of blue to match up with the front. Also the backlights are now painted silver. When they are dry they will receive a coat of transparent red. And after that the pigment flinging will begin.

Very curious to your feedback guys. anything I missed please point it out.

Robert... Yes,I have a lot of work to do.This is my first modern build, and also my first set of Friuls. We'll see what happens.
Depending on how dirty you are going to make your build, the only thing I can see is to maybe define the area where the windscreen wiper swings back and forth a little better.Just a thought.Jeff T.

Ola Jeff.
Friuls are near. I use them wherever I can. I usually assemble them while watching soccer matches. Once you got the rhythm you can almost do a full run in 45 minutes. Yeah the vehicle will get a dirt treatment. And you are right about the windscreenwiper radius. I haven't done much to that yet. I'm going to treat that with some Matt lawyer with some khaki mixed in. But first I'm going to do something about the horrible tap on the back. got annoyed by it enough to replace it. Already started scratching the structure on the back that will be covered by a new tarp. More on that later

Hmmm now I read my text again I see I have to keep a close eye to what appears on my screen as the autocorrect function of my smartphone makes me sound like a confused idiot. Friuls are neat. Matt lawyer is of course Matt lacquer and the tap on the back should be the tarp
