I believe that the Trumpeter T-90 and Tunguska kit where just an April fools joke.
Cool JGSDF Type 87 btw!

Christian- I just wanted to check in and say what a great job you are doing on this. I've been avoiding looking at this until I got my own kit sitting on the desk- wanted it all to be a bit of a surprise!! I'm working on a review of the kit for armorama now. Anyway, keep up the good work !

Thank you Karl!
I'm looking forward to reading your review.
You have one heck of a good time ahead of you building the T-90 kit. Everything just fits and goes together like a dream.

UPDATE 7
I've started putting the hatch-machine gun together. Crisp as usuall and no roblems getting it together. I also drilled a hole at the barrel.
The same goes for the co-axil maschinegun in the turret. I drilled a hole there as well...very fiddly but after some time sweating over the pin vice it was fixed.
And now to the first problem of the build.
The end of the barrel looks like this....
And the entry point in the turret mantlet looks like this...
First off is that the barrel is to big ( or more likely the mantlet hole is to small and have an angle "thing" that does not fit the incline on the barrel.
Secondly, the furthest-in guide hole does not have the same shape as the guide block on the end of the barrel.
I've gone over the build instructions a couple of times to see what i've done wrong but it's a error on Zvezdas part.
No big deal however, just annoying! i'll just widen the mantlet hole and cut away the "angle thing" and shorten the barrel.
Now to something i almost forgot...there's an interior !
Although not as comprehensive.

UPDATE / - General info.
Here are some diagrams for those of you (including myself) that desire a better understanding of some of the systems that are in T-90 tanks.

HI
Which is more than you get in 99% of kits. Place a figure or two in place and you won't see a lot of it anyway.
Really looking fwd to picking one or two up.

That's enough that I can stick a figure into the open hatches and that's all I ever ask of an interior.

I don't believe Trumpeter announced a Tunguska for this year
Maybe you mean this JGSDF Type 87 SPH?
Hisham
No Hisham i meant the Tunguska but thanks for the information! Great news to see that a modern AAA-tank (and a modern japanese one) is going to be released in near future.

It inspired me to buy the kit and what a delight it is
Now all I need to do is actually finish one or two WIP so I can have a go at it

It is actually painful to look at how beautiful that turret is, since I need to build the earlier cast turret version and will need to transplant a Miniarm turret in its place.

Christian- thanks for posting that info about the sighting and fire control systems. I have some closer-up images of those systems that you might find interesting-

Commander's Observation System on a T-90A:
Interior shots of a T-90A:
I must say I didn't think Zvezda would do any interior parts yet the ones they have included are exquisite pieces that really do add a nice touch to the open hatches.

Thanks alot Karl, for the interior photos!
Great idea by Zvezda to add a bit on interior equipment.
Thank you Boris.
And yes, let's hope there will be a Tunguska kit in a near future.

UPDATE 8
Turret = completed !
If this was in the 1980's Soviet union, i think i would have qualified for the Hero of Socialist Labour Medal for fixing that gun barrel in place to the turret.
So everyone, the turret is now completed! For the sharpeyed ones out there you may notice that the hatch machine-gun is not in position. It's indeed finished but i'll paint it seperate from the turret which makes it much easier.
Some photos:
Now i will start whit the main chassi. I suspect this is where the real work will begin.
Untill next time gents !

GREAT Build !!!! I can't wait to buy this kit !!! Can you please post a copy of the painting insturtions with the color guide? What paints & colors do they recommend? Keep us up to date with this build !!! Simply beautiful !!! I wish Zvezda would takle the T-80 and Tunguska in this manner, all would be well in the modern armor world. Thanks Joe
