I haven't checked the antenna against any reference photos yet, I don't add antennas until most of the painting is done as I tend to snap them off!
Don't worry about the seam on the wheels either. I ran a scalpel blade around the seam and then sanded it down, didn't take that long !

Quoted TextThat mesh doesn't look too bad at all Christian. Interesting observations about the antenna aswell.
Thanks Karl! I really struggled whit the mesh for quite some time.
Concerning the antenna, to me at least, the one supplied in the kit looks to short. I might be wrong??
Well, it depends. It could be long or short...

Hi again Mauro!
There seems to be alot of different antennas. It would be interesting to know why there are such a difference in lenght of the antenna? Different radio equipment on different year versions of the tank?
Anyhow, i'll opt for the longer version and whit a small russian flag ontop of it, if i can manage.

Well in my humble opinion probably shorter antennas are used during trinings, longer ones during transfers
A long aerial could be more fragile when tank has a more stressfull mission
It's just my guess anyway

Whit the tank build going like blitzkrieg speed at the moment, i took the time to choose the paints for the T-90 tank as i waited for the lower hull and wheel arms to dry.
The paints will be:
*Tamiya Olive Green XF58 + Tamiya Khaki Drab XF51 - ca 70:30 mix (Green areas)
*Tamiya Deck Tan XF55 (Beige areas)
*Tamiya Nato Black XF69 + XF20 Medium Grey - ca 95:5 mix (black areas)
Some reference pictures....

Christian,
my understanding of the antenna length is that it 's made up of 4 4 meter sections so could show up as as either 1,2,3, or 4 meters long.

Does anyone know when this kit will be available here in the states? Thus far it looks like a gem for the price (I must have spent close to $200 on everything used in my conversion in 2008).

Sean - i didn't quite understand what you wrote. Is it made up of 1 meter sections up to 4 meter?
( If 4 meter section..then start would be 4,8,12 m etc)??
Cheers/

Hello ET. According to Dragon USA onlinestore, the Zvezda T-90 is estimated to be released in January 2012...which should be any day now.
The kit is truly a great one, concidering the price and what you get for your money. Almost an entire T-90 kit for roughlt the same price as a single Miniarm 2004 T-90 turret.

A quick question to you guys...
I'm just curious. Is it possible for the T-90A to have one of those cool armoured shields whit a vision block in it, on the turret hatch next by the machinegun?
I've seen a few russian tanks sporting that kind of set-up but i'm not sure if it was for T-90. Maybe T-72??

UPDATE 15
The lower hull and the wheels are now stone dry and ready for the painting booth.
I'll be sure to do a few test runs on the wheels, to get the color blend the way i want it, before i spray the hull.
Expect pics containing paint in the next update.

do you mean that one?
I'm not sure about but according to my reference, T-90 seems to use the open hatch as an anti fragment shield

I believe this shield is no more than a weather shield for the TC. The bottom is kind of soft rubberized fabric.
Looking at the way it is attached to the T-72 cupola I won't bet this is possible to find one on a T-90 and other T-XX with the same remote controlled NSVT.

It is a protective shield from small arms and fragmentation. The lower section is indeed fabric because the commander's lower torso is protected by the open hatch.
These aren't fitted to the T-90. Just the T-72, T-72B and T-72B(m)1989

I think the lower section is made in fabric to allow the use of mg and yes, i haven't seen any T-90 fitted with it
cheers

A hasty update concerning the paint.
I've been spendning ALOT of time in my painting area, trying different color blends on the wheels and i found a mix that i'm absolutly thrilled about.
All in all so far...the wheels have been painted and the lower hull along side them. I have also added black and slightly brown wash to the wheels and now a seal whit future is all that remains.
Pics of the progress will be up this weekend.
And by the way, all of my WIP photos are finally online again.

Sorry for the lack of progress. I've gotten sick whit a massive cold, probably from that big ventilation fan i have when i airbrush. Never sit in a draft!
Are you planning a OOB build or too mod your T-90?

I will probably go for stock on this one, maybe new tracks and barrel, but no plans yet... It does not pretty great for Zvezda
