Thanks Mauro and Karl for the reference photos. And thanks to Rob for the info.
I'll model the flaps in an open position on the T-90.

Currently struggling whit the strange netting that comes whit the kit, that is for making a "fence" effect on the air-intakes above the engine. Really annoying material that unfurls and there is only threads left when i've finished cutting. Going to try to dip the netting in a watered down wooden glue mix to stiffen it up. Hopefully the glue will not cover upp the netting holes.

Concerning the discussion on the accuracy of the Zvezda kit:

I missed a few comments on the thread that was about the accuracy of the T-90 kit toward the real-life tank. Some think that a height elevation or a small displacement of parts is bad. Some don't bother whit it.

People and their views are different and i'm one of the people that think that some of the flaws on the kit are no problem. They are there but i personally don't mind.
I'm a casual builder and as long as the kit looks good, have good detailing and have a overall true look like the original i am happy. I'm just happy there is a T-90 kit now on the market.

Some hobbyists is on a different level when it comes to detailing.

I do not cencur negative critics.
Picking out errors on the kit is welcomed.
But in a manner that is for me (us?), as casual hobbyist, worth of noticing.

I mean no offence and i hope you understand

Please excuse my bad english.

Cheers
/Christian

This is the plastic netting that i was talking about earlier in my post.

Here's a pic of how one of the nets looked just as i took them out of a plastic bag. Before i've touched it they have started to unfurl itself.
Net:

Now i start to understand why you get two pieces of every net....
I would have liked to have seen the nets as PE parts instead.

Well, of course, a PE grill would have been far better, but the price of the kit maybe would have been higher. Probably some extra set company have been making a T-90 set yet

Anyway I think I'll replace with a fine metal mesh which I found in a hardware store some time ago. I've used the same on my Tamiya t-55 which also have a similar awful plastic net

Btw:
Here are the 2 schemes Zvezda gives us:

T-90A "White 251" with guardian-logo. This scheme was a part of the WW2 victory parade in Moscow in 2011.(Please note: rubber tracks)

The photos were taken from here http://vitalykuzmin.net/

And the "White 52X", they belong to "7-й Краснодарской Краснознаменной орденов Кутузова и Красной Звезды военной базы, Гудаута, Абхазия, 2009-2010", Which means 7. Krasnodar Red-Banner base (carrying order of Kutuzov and Red Star) in Gudauta/Abchasia. 2009-2010.

Hello everyone

Small update...the WIP build is NOT dead!
The thing is that i've managed to drop my Kirov 1/350 model ship into the floor when i was cleaning the house, and i've been fixing the damage

Pics on the continued T-90 build will be up later today.

It seems like the T-90 kits have found their way to modellers across Europe. I wish all of you new T-90 owners a happy time building your kit.

I've bought it!

At a first glace seems to me one of the best kit which I've ever seen!
Only flaw is the two piece mould gun which can create some problems. the rest of the kit is really top of the notch!

Now I hope for new subjects with this level of quality! (t-72? BMP-1? T-80?...)

HI

Is the overall green scheme a show/demo scheme only? Or is it now being adopted into regular service?

T-90A with an overall green sheme is rather uncommon. The tank with the number 139 from the 5th tamanskaja brigade is the only one which comes into my mind

Great work Christian, please keep us posted.

UPDATE 11

So, now it's once again time to continue the T-90 build.

Currently i'm working whit the last "fiddly" bits before fixing the bottom chassie and top chassie together.

A look at the front fenders...went together whitout even a slightest problem.
Still need go get some putty on the fenders though since there is a small gap.

Side boxes are also in place.

It feels good to once again get at it whit the T-90.

The Kirov model ship i dropped and tried to fix, i ended up throwing it away and ordered a new one.

Thanks everyone for the kind and supporting warming words. I will continue whit the build

Next up is my journey to find a replacement for the plastic strings i got whit the kit....acting as a fencing cover for the engine compartment.

sorry to hear about the kirov ship, gravity is sometimes the modeler's worst enemy... followed by the all-consuming carpet.

i really like how you take pictures of the model with the instructions as a background, i find myself looking over the diagrams just as much as the model itself. i hope to see others combine the two in their build blogs.

following with great anticipation for the final piece. cheers, bd.

UPDATE 12

Zvezda vs MINIARM / Turret comparison:
This is a general comparison between the new turret that's in the new zvezda kit and the resin one from MINIARM.

First photo in every cluster is from MINIARM. (It's the one whit metal barell + resins)

Yes, comparison is a brilliant idea

Maybe Miniart turret is still just a little bit better than the Zvezda one...but it costs FAR more and is harder to assemble, so Zvezda have done a great job indeed

I agree with you Mauro, at least here in Austria I get a whole ZVEZDA T-90 for the price of Miniarm T-72 road-wheels

All the best,

Andreas
