I did just drop by to voice an opinion -that's allowed I think

I probably will sign up though closer to the embarkation date, I have a terrible habit of signing up to campaigns and then forgetting about them until a month from the finish

I shouldn't have a problem with Shermans though- I have plenty in the stash to chose from including another Academy M4A2/76

Why didn't I use the kit tracks? - I can't remember. I think because I had them made up from another build and photos showed them in use on Soviet Shermans







So, in your opinion I cannot express my opinion to say that one kit having less PE and decal variety is unfair criticism? There lies the problem.

I think if it was such a great kit you would have used the kits tracks. I just like the fact that the DML had nicer tracks and the PE and the decals offer more of a variety in what version to go with. And it just wasn't the "/review" that I was going by because there was more than just text going on there. The images tell the whole story as to which has more to offer.

So ... okay, I see where you're going with this. This could go on and on so just join up or ... You just didn't like MY opinion but yours is golden? Okay.

I never said you couldn't have an opinion just that the phrase severely lacking was a bit strong.

As well as not using the kit tracks I made the following changes
Lower Hull. Incorrect suspension replaced. Cast texture added to transmission cover. Road wheels distressed.
Upper Hull: Sunken welds replaced with sprues welds. Scratch built Metal sand shield attachment strips added. Headlights drilled out. Hull Machine gun replaced with brass barrel. Light and siren guards and Periscope brush guards thinned down. Front and rear cable clamp scratch built. Wire cable added. Drainage holes drilled out.
Turret; Kit gun barrel replaced with metal barrel and muzzle brake, Cast texture added. Machine gun carrying brackets thinned down. Locking lever added to Machine gun pintle.

Why? Because I'm a modeller.

I've actually built the Dragon M4A3 as well and probably put an equal amount of work into it.

We can discuss each other's opinions can't we? Is that not what Armorama is for?

Wow! There's some heat going on here...

I have two of those Academy Soviet M4A2s (bought to harvest parts, on sale rediculously cheap) but they are in storage at the mo. One will be undergoing plastic surgery eventually to become a BARV, complete with new front plate to back-date it to "small hatch", but most of the details get covered up by the new superstructure - I only chose to start from this kit because of the diesel hatch details on the underside of the hull...

My Wife just handed this kit to me to build for this Campaign.



I may do it just to please her for I am all about family and I support them supporting my hobby and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Even if one mixed-up rivet counter here doesn't like it.

One problem is that this kit is severely lacking as well but I believe there are no AM parts available for it so I may have to do without as where would I begin to scratch build tracks for it?

He he ... look Maw! No cement needed! Or paint! But I will need to weather it, ya think?

Au contraire, mon frere! There's an endless supply of potential AM parts, courtesy of our Danish brick-making friends! (We have a LEGO shop in one of the local malls, where you can buy bags of "loose" bricks from a sort of pick & mix affair.) But do the rules allow a "What If" with airplane wings and the lasers from an X-Wing?

Of course, you'll still need to make soft stowage from rolled-up tissue!

It certainly knocks seven shades of $%$£ out of the crude LEGO stuff we had in the late 60s...

Great the "Lego" Sherman!!!!!!
I have a kid of 5 years old and we love the Lego models, his preference are aircraft, tanks and of course, Star Wars models....!!!!

Lego has accurately captured the M4A3 76W, with this one. They do however depict the rare "no drive sprocket" power train produced in limited numbers. The inverted Cullin device is quite nice and also seldom seen.

I'm looking forward to this one for sure.

I'm a Total Noob here, but as long as "Scratch building (is) very much encouraged and any manufacturer is allowed", I would like to jump in head-first with a scratch-built 1:6 scale R/C Sherman Calliope.

I really wanted to get it started, as I have been collecting diagrams, plans and materials for several months, but I broke a few bones in a motorcycle accident and both of my nephews/volunteers/machinists just backed out. I can use the lead time to heal, do more research, collect materials and stage an area for more-professional build photos.

I don't think it quite falls in the normal scope of Kit Maker Network projects, but (to be honest) agreement to the campaign will help me stay focused on the project and give me a firm dead-line. I already posted my intent to a couple of other sites and told my co-workers, so now my "honor" is at stake.
