I had that idea at the start of the thread, but have given it up because I couldn´t find a Sherman hull with that configuration. What´s your secret, or are you just going to kit bash?

Hi Paul,

Kitbashing is the only way! I've got the Tamiya M4A3(105) and several other M4A3s, so I need to graft in an M4 engine deck and rear plate to make the right combo of big hatches and radial engine. The turret will come from a Trumpeter M26. I think DML did an M4 (105) kit, but I've had enough wrestling with their other Sherman kits to know better!

(Still can't think of a good use for a turret-less M26 hull...)

Paul, I would use the Tamiya M4 105MM for the lower configuration. It has the radial engine deck but is the welded, big hatch hull.

Hi Jeff,
hope the weather brightens up for you, it was 24° and sunny here today in Münster Germany. Perfect for digging over the allotment and collecting roots for the Modelling a photo 2 build and have BBQ with cold beer. But now to the subject, if I go on with it I would have to get the following:
Italeri M4A1 for the engine deck and lower hull + running gear,
which would make a second one as the first is for the early
M50, my original choice for this build.
Tamiya M4 105 for the welded hull with 45° glacis.
Dragon or whoever for the M26 turret.
Another set of T62 M4 tracks.
I´m afraid that lot would get me into trouble with my beloved and I don´t want that as she has just paid for 2 flights for us back to Blighty in November to visit my parents So I´ll stick to the M50 and let Tom take the stage with the M4/M26 prototype.

105 here today in Sin City, dry but a bit humid. We are in our "monsoon" season where we receive most of the years 4" of rain. It rained steady last Wednesday all day and caused flash flooding.

I'm going to build the DML M4A3 "ETO" as a 6th Battalion tank on Okinawa. It will require at least one box of Bronco T54E1 tracks for spare armor, Milliput sandbags, and lots of flotsam and jetsom.

Hey Paul, I was kiddin' about the rain here in Louisville as we did get in our luncheon aboard the Belle of Louisville before any weather rolled in. Pretty good time!

I know all the kit bashing can get expensive but maybe if you ask in the buy & sell area you might get enough to carry on with your project? Wish I had something to offer but just don't have a lot of Sherman parts.

Well, gotta shower and get out of here in an hour and a half. I had a pretty goodtime in the last Sherman Campaign... I just hope this one is the same or better.

Hi all.

I signed up for this campaign a while ago, but didn't realize that there was already a active thread going.

I've wanted to try a Tasca Sherman kit for a while now, but hadn't made up my mind as yet, then they released their M32B1 recovery vehicle, so I ordered one from Pacific Coast Models. The kit arrived a few days ago, and to say that I'm impressed, is an under statement. It looks like a real challenge even for the basically OOB builder.

Jose, thanks for the info. I've resisted trying a few Tasca kits as their a little pricey compared to DML kits, but after seeing the level of detail that's in the M32B1 kit, I'm already looking forward to my 1st Tasca Sherman. And since my main modeling interest is USA WW11 thru Korea, I'm set for years to come.

Stupid question here;

On this thread you said NO variants except the M32 but on the offical campaign page you say Israeli modified tanks.

So the actual question; can I do a Israeli M51? If not I'm sure I can find something to do, maybe make use of those lovely new Panda tracks.

Hi Jeff, although i am up to my neck with campaigns i decided that, this is a good excuse to build Dragon's Firefly Mk 1c hybrid hull. For some reason i kept pushing that box at the back of the stash. There is also another reason. I see that all the ''usual suspects'' are enlisted, so good company is certain.

Steph, that is the exact same kit I built from the last Sherman Campaign! It basically falls together and a fun kit that needs really nothing.

Torsten, I'm not sure but your kit MIGHT have some holes in the bottom of the hull and on the rear armor as Tamiya have made an RC kit with it. Very nice kit, clean molds, decals are pretty clean as well.

And after a quick search, I don't think anyone makes a metal muzzle break for the M51.
