Small steps: worked on applying the bare metal on the sprocket teeth, and the idler and road wheel rims. I tried to get a 'worn' look. Also worked on the tools, fire extinguisher, tow cables, and tracks. The only photo-worthy parts at this point are:

Hi all- Going to post pics before painting. I took a page out of wingnut's playbook and added some weld seams. I think they turned out pretty good:

Front

Hull

Turret

Hope to be painting by this weekend. Thanks wingnut!

Hi Darren,

I'll have to bail on this one - I did a bit to the turret and only recently started on the wheels/tracks, so there's just too many miles to go. (That dreaded "Real Life" has absorbed my hobby time!) Another entry for the next "Get'r Done", methinks...

It's gonna come down to the wire for me.
The tracks have been weathered and installed:

The tools and other doo-dads are painted and ready for install. I doubt I can get to much weathering before the cutoff date, so it may be a new looking vehicle which has not spent much time at the front.

Keith I have no issue with that as it is good to see something different once in a while.

Thanks Darren.

@Lucas--it looks good, but time is running out!

A little more headway--the tools, tow cables, etc, pre-oil wash:

Close up of the tools and fire extinguisher:

I'm calling this one Done. It's about 94% complete. This coming week is gonna be mega-busy, followed by a vacation trip to...Ohio (yes, Ohio), then a business trip to Japan. But I'll see if I can get a few things done over the next few days.

In the meantime here it is:

I'm going to have to bow out at the last minute, sorry. I still need to finish detailing the turret and paint the thing so I don't think I'll be done on time. Too much other stuff going on right now.

@Darren @ Sal--thanks for the compliments. I felt like putting the new-ish Iwata through its paces on the camo and see what it could do free-hand. Amazing little machine. And it was sheer enjoyment to do too.

@Erhan--Remarkable work on short time on a minuscule kit!

@Ryan--that's too bad, but we've all had life and things get in the way of our hobbies. There's always tomorrow, and there'll be more campaigns. Hang in there!

It's been an enjoyable campaign. I've learned a lot, done some new things, and had a blast.

Thanks to all,

Keith

Love your King Tiger Erhan! I'm putting in some serious hours this weekend to try and get my King Tiger Porsche turret done on time. I've got the major sub-assemblies done and have put on the base coat of weathered black and a pre shade of flat earth as well. Next is the off-white applied in cloud technique to hopefully look like the "Snow Tiger" in Verlinden's Building Military Vehicles Vol.III. Always loved the look of it and trying to replicate it in Braille scale is a little daunting.

I have another late de facto entry. I had started Trumpeter's 1/72 Porsche Turret King Tiger in snow camo, in the beginning of this month, then halted. Now, I can put photos before painting.

Good luck Boys!

@Burak- I like the Trumpy kit with the Porsche turret as it has zimmerit on it already. I'm doing mine in whitewash as well so looking forward to seeing yours done. I'm taking a short break as the road wheels set before adding the tracks which I have washed and added the silvering where the road wheels make contact. Hoping to have the lower hull done tonight then glue upper/lower together for final paint and weathering.

@Rob- Looking really nice in primer! Hope you make the deadline with it as it looks great so far. I don't see how you guys can build it up and then paint it as nice as you do. Mine would look horrible! I paint sub-assemblies, then build a little-paint and build a little....takes a lot longer but keeps me in the comfort zone! Best wishes to all, I have really enjoyed this campaign!

I see a two week extension may be needed here.
